Was the New World Bible Translation Committee pressed for time?

    ....when they did not include a translation of the Hebrew Scriptures in your special Kingdom Interlinear Bible?

    Perhaps it is easier to manipulate the New Testament to fit with their twisted JW teachings?

    No I don't think they were pressed for time, 1947 to 1960 seems a reasonable period to translate the whole Bible. The KIT did not come out until 1969. I think Interlinears of the NT are much more common than Interlinears of the Hewbrew scriptures. Plus just as the NWT was intended to replace the ASV as the JW Bible for general use, the KIT was intended to replace Benjamin Wilson's Emphatic Diaglott of the New Testament. But it may be taken as a tacit admission by the Wachtower Society, despite insistence to the contrary, that the NT is doctrinally more important and therefore scrutinised in greater detail.

    But they seem to use the OT more though, except Maty 24:45-47 and a few about the last days and disfellowshipping.

    @julia

    Because the OT is many times bigger than the NT. More text more opportunity to find stuff to twist and shape.

    I just realized I haven't held a New World Translation in my hands for about thirty five years.

    That just improved my day.

    I've got a heap of them in the bookcase between me and my husband. I'll get rid of them one day...slowly been JW-ising the house. I'm keeping the calendar though: a free calendar is a free calendar!

    Julia,

    Burn the calendar!!!

    It's demon infested.

    The demons always find their way into an apostate's home and are particularly fond of living in and around shit from Jehovah's organisation so they can make sure no one takes in the good spiritual food it provides through the faithful and discreet slave AKA Octopope.

    Certainly , they do twist the NT to suit themselves , but you can use the interlinear to show that , as when they add the word "other " to passages about Christ creating ALL things not all "other " things . At least you can show them that the added words are not in the original . So in a way I am surprised that they do include an interlinear because it can be used against them . How long before they realise this ?
