WTS: "Leave churches that change doctrines!"

The Watchtower Society openly acknowledges that constant doctrinal changes are causing many to abandon their religion.

Oh irony, you're always there for me!

    [w75 6/1 Millions Have Left the Churches - Should You? p. 324]

    WHY DO THEY LEAVE?

The reasons that people give for abandoning the churches are many and varied. Some in West Germany do it in order to be relieved of paying the church tax. More often, however, the reason involves changes in Roman Catholic teaching in recent years. These have confused many persons who thought that they had the true apostolic religion. As one Catholic priest in the United States put it: “If the things the Church has said in the last ten years are true, then everything it said for the last 2,000 years is false.”

The solution proposed by the Watchtower Society to anyone finding themselves in the type of religious organization described above continues in the same article:

...be sure to weigh carefully what God himself says in the Bible at 2 Corinthians 6:14-17: “Do not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers. For what fellowship do righteousness and lawlessness have? Or what sharing does light have with darkness? . . . ‘Therefore get out from among them, and separate yourselves,’ says Jehovah, ‘and quit touching the unclean thing.’”

There was a similar article in the 1980s I think called "Changes that Disturb People".

Whatever they say, the reasons why some people may choose to leave the Catholic Church are very different from the reasons people leave the WT, and so is the manner.

Leaving the WT means being exposed to being judged, losing your good name and being excluded by your friends and family. You may also be forced to leave for just being “brazen” and taking your own decisions even in personal matters.

Leaving the Catholic Church you know the door will always be open for you to come back and that you will be able to be your own person if you decide to do so.

How about this bold statement criticizing other religions about 'change' that appears in the June 1, 2000 Watchtower page 3:

'The urge to change Christian teachings to suit the spirit of the age has a long history, as we shall see. How do God and Jesus Christ feel about such changes? Can the churches that sponsor teachings that are not rooted in Christ rightly call themselves Christian?'

I should be shocked, and yet I'm not. Great to see it's actually in print. Hypocrisy indeed.

    Gotta love it!

    Thanks for that irondork!

Of course, this doesn't apply to the JWs as they don't have 'churches', they have 'Kingdom Halls' Kingdumb Hells.

To be fair the thread title doesnt accurately reflect whats written and quoted in the article. The article states that one of the many and varied reasons people leave churches is because of doctrinal changes. They quote a catholic priest as opposed to actually stating it themselves. Still the intent of the article is hypocrtical.
