Will Don Cameron have to write a new book?

In light of the 'new light' recently about the FDS not being inspected until later (and not in 1919) does this mean Don Cameron will have to rewrite his 'Captives of a Concept'? As most of his book is debunking this 'inspection of 1919'.

    Any thoughts?

Haha... was thinking the very same thing earlier this week!

They are still linked to 1919 are they not ? I know they are saying the "cleansing" process is an ongoing thing, but it is all supposed to have started from being chosen in 1919 is it not ?

Yes, that's my reading of it. I have yet to see the smallprint, but so far 1919 seems to be taking on greater significance, not less. Previously the FDS started in 33 CE and the organization was chosen by Christ in 1919. Now both of those events are combined in 1919 with an ongoing cleansing process thereafter.

I guess they were refining things when people in Malawi were being murdered.

    A.: No.

... he just has to provide "clip 'n glue" sheets with the updated information.

It's a proven technique practiced many times when the revised Revelation Climax book came out.

The book doesn’t need to be revised as far as the identity of the "faithful and discreet slave" Is concerned. Chapters 6 and 11 help to show in actual practice, the various terms that have been used for "God’s organization" (including "the faithful and discreet slave") refer to "the men who are hidden behind those terms" – the men of the Governing Body. Or as Ray Franz expressed it 30 years ago: ‘\"They and they alone are ‘the organization.’"

Or as the men of the Governing Body have apparently finally figured out: "They, and they alone, are "the faithful and discreet slave."

As far as upgrading the book, we’ll have to wait and see just how the Governing Body tries to bail themselves out of their "old light" into their "new light."

One thing seems certain: As "Captives of a Concept" points out, they are not going to use a DIMMER switch the ‘gradual’ and ‘progressive’ way they interpret Proverbs 4:18. They are going to use a simple ON/OFF switch that turns their "old light" OFF and their "new light" ON.

I’m looking forward to seeing how they do it.

Thankyou for posting on this Don! (Sorry I'd missed it). It's great to read a reply from the man himself.. I decided to start reading the book again for the second time in light of the 'new light' ... LOL

For me I think this 'concept' and understanding what it was all about was pivotal in my mentally and emotionally breaking away and it's this I've been trying to use to help my family see what is wrong with the whole set up.

It will certainly be interesting to see how this develops now.

Don Cameron's book needs to be viewed as a bunker buster bomb that was a tremendous success in pushing the GB off the dime.

I have observed that any movement from an entrenched position comes from outside critics who hit a bullseye with trenchant targeting of weak spots in the JW mythos.

When the picture you've carefully hung over the mantle is crooked and the parlor is filled with true believers it only takes one truth teller to point

to the wonky imprecision to get an "adjustment" going full throttle.

We can theorize that the amount of time it takes to create tergiversation in the Watchtower leadership is about 3 to 4 years.

    Congratulations, Don!

Mr. Cameron's book is the most logical review of the selection fallacy I have read, very unemotional and driven by facts and data.....
