I think this is another case of freaks among the wackos. No mainstream jw would ever go that far. Even my mom who burned everything for demons let us have bicycles.

Weird Beliefs from JWs
by Yizuman inwho has heard some really far out, off the wall, el whacko beliefs from jws over the years??.
here's an example....yesterday a couple of jehopeless witlesses told me that riding my bicycle was the doings of the devil because, since a bicycle can't stand up by itself, it's impossible to ride one without the devil holding you up.
does anybody know what bible verse they use to support this?

Piph- the smurf scare in the 80's is exactly why I chose my name. I think most to all ex-jw's remember the smurf thing. My mom was also extra paranoid about E.T. She said it was because of E.T. being "resurrected" a la Jesus. She smashed my brother's walking ET doll declaring demons and I guess he's haunting the landfill now.

I've heard the screaming ouija board story before! Told by an Elder's wife. Wonder if it was about your sister or if all ouija boards scream when burned in JW folklore.
My mom's best burning was when she decided to burn all the painings my father had given my brother and I. He was a very prolific and talented artist. It was general knowledge at my hall that my father was demonized as he was a big scary looking biker sort and many of his paintings were of a surrealist style. He even did the occasional flaming skeleton on bike to sell at rallys which JW mom was most fearful of. Anyway when she pitched the paintings into the barrel stove she couldn't fit one all the way in the stove, it flamed up, almost burned the house down, and singed her arms in the process. She declared this proof 'o demons as they had tried to take her with them! My dad gave us more art when he found out & told my mother under no circumstances would she burn these ones or he'd go to the social worker.

The JW's think she has connections because she was a kinda wiccan before joining. I say kinda because it was really her own concotion of various indigenous and pagan beliefs with a little Irish Catholic on top.

My mother was and is famous for this. She is often sought out by other JW's who suspect their stuff is demonized which she almost always confirms to be so.

Feminism=Equality. If someone speaks of you in a deragatory manner for wanting to be their equal I don't think their opinion is worth much in the first place and I wouldn't waste my time with them. I think some people take feminism too far when it stops being about equality and becomes a hate filled superiority complex. I call those sorts femi-nazis. There's alot of he-man woman haters out there too.

Rhode Island a Rogue State - Screws Indian Tribe
by Amazing inthe state of rhode island crosses sovereign indian territory to close down a smoke shop.
i am especially ashamed of rhode island given it history with roger williams, its founder, a strong advocate of indian rights against the wishes if the british crown.
this is a good time for president bush to send in the federal army and strip rhode island of its statehood, arrest the police storm troopers and the state governor for violation of indian rights and sovereign territory.

This is un-flipping believable! As far as I know only the BIA (bureau of indian affairs) or Feds can pursue matters like this on a reservation not the state. Even so they wouldn't pursue this matter at all on sovereign land. I don't know too much about this particular tribe's sovereignty status, but from what I read on your link it appears they have a really good case against the state. Tax free tobacco has been a well established staple of many bands for years. Contrary to popular belief many peoples still are fighting an uphill battle against the goverment and status quo in the "land of the free".

One of my closest friends is an extremely pretty petite blonde. As a result of being constantly pursued, stalked, and abused by men only interested in her physical beauty instead of her intellect she has become a feminist of the man hating persuasion. I don't think she actually hates them, just feels she can't trust them at all. She has her BA in fine arts so she really does have "brains and smarts". She gets alot of flack from other women too especially "feminists" who treat her like an idiot based on her looks. I personally would just like to see men and women on an equal footing which I guess makes me a feminist to some people too.

That is not possibly but definitely one ill concieved logo.
I actually went on a motorcoach tour to bethel when I was 16. It was truly awful. All the way from Appleton Wi & back in a bus chock full o' brotherly love. The singing drove my brother & I insane! When we got there all I could think was we traveled all this way-----for this????
