IYXY an ancient abbreviation of “Jesus Christ”
how much would a well-off witness be expected to donate?
my wife has just withdrawn a few hundred pounds from her account and refuses to tell me why so i suspect she plans to donate it as she hasn't donated for a while because she knows i don't want our money going to the organisation.
is it likely that she is feeling under pressure to make a large donation?.
@frazzled someone who loves his wife would not say things like 'You and your family are depending on my money' and critisise her because of her education. Besides that most of the JW's make a decent living and have more than enough money to care for themselves. The window washing stories are not the reality. Most of them just have other regular jobs. And there is no prohibition on higher education. People can decide themselves what they will do. What is emphasised is that we can make only one thing the most important in our lives and that persuing a career will cost a lot of time an effort. Time is something you have only once, so we are advised to use it wisely.
Making the Kingdom of God and proclaiming the Good News a priority and most important thing in life is wise in our eyes and foolish in the eyes of the world.
We dont care about what others think. We do things the way we think its best.

@frazzled you dont sound like a loving husband at all
when i was preschool, i had several dolls.
meetings were so hard at that age.
in fact, they were agony my entire life.
@blondie because children aged 1-3 do not comprehend (look at the phrase about being intelligent enough in your own quote) the public talk and watchtower study and tear up publications. older children dont and are usually aware of what is happening, make their first answers at the watchtower study etc etc
I have a boy of 2 years old. I gave him a tablet to keep him busy with digital coloring book, some games, some movies and the wt kids animations and songs. it keeps him busy and quiet.

truthseeker's fine thread got me thinking.
there are plenty of forum members from europe, australia, and latin america here.
did the book study in publishers' homes end a few years ago at the time, or near the time, that it did in america?
i meant the bookstudy is held at the same night as the service meeting in the kingdom hall. i am dutch so english is not my language

the bookstudy is now integrated in the service meeting,.. worldwide
it took the better part of 15 years but i believe we have finally arrived at that point where there is now a critical mass of former witnesses.. thousands of exjws come together on forums like this one and discuss findings, ideas and research.
there have been documentaries and even a movie made about life in the jehovah's witnesses.. ex jw websites, online forums, and discussion boards that set the wheels in motion in the early to late 90s have matured into powerful tools of social change within the organization.. the lies and false doctines taught by the watchtower bible & tract society are plainly accessible with just a cursory google search.. active elders leak boe letters, often weeks before they hit the notice board in a kingdom hall.. social media has allowed exjws to connect with those still in as well as those who have left.. the society have no game plan because information is power and they have lost the information war.
all they can do is cry wolf and warn the rank and file not to listen to apostates.. i don't know what future the society will face in the next ten years, but changing world events, social trends, and reactionary change from headquarters based on their own faulty biblical chronology has got them cornered like a raging animal.. it doesn't look good..
@DD talk to you all in 10 years from now.. incase this forum is still up. Anyway JW's will still be there at that time.
