Can one find God without studying the Bible?
by Dis-Member ini don't recall jesus ever once telling people that they should even read the bible to find god.. he said nothing about 'taking in knowledge' either.. .
he didn't encourage people to read the bible because 90% of people in his day couldn't read!
the bible was not read by most people, it was -heard- when someone else read it aloud.

Cofty: I am not afraid to admit that I am as lost and confused as the next person. Perhaps even more so. This flip flopping deeply disturbs me and hurts me.
Don't know if I am coming or going. I start to believe people here are sincere and consistent then all of a sudden everything turns on it's head. Double whammy.
Going out to get a blood drink.

I don't judge anyone Cofty.. but after several thousand posts in an apostate forum when a person suddenly says: 'I said sorry to Jehovah' and bails back into the vomit that they have brutally savaged and shat on for who knows how long: - forgive me for having zero respect. Not a judgment but a simple observation.
My observations are also not for you to judge. Please apply your own medicine to yourself.
PS: the weak 'apart from you' stab just lets you down further.

Cofty.. not sure about you but I take this stuff kind of seriously. I'm not here to laugh and giggle but believe it or not to try to find and make some sense of all this madness.
I am begginig to see now that this is not the place for that.
Do not put your trust in mortal man. Maybe the time to quit is here now for me too but for altogether different reasons.
WEAK ASS FRUADSTERS ABOUND. FUA.

Asking Jehovah and the congregation forgiveness for what exactly? Did you commit grevious sins by engaging in honest open discussion?
Pathetic is a word that tumbles off my tongue.
I'm coming to realise that not only are the people in the org not real.. but those that have left it are just as fickle, weak and possibly fake as well.
Either in or out, none are real. Both classes will drop you in a heartbeat. So full of dung.

Marriage In The New World
by Cold Steel inokay, here's the issue.
some people, even some jws, believe that in the new world they will be reunited with their spouses.
jesus, however, said that in the resurrection there would be no marriage or giving in marriage.

Did not mean to offend Bobcat... I'm still searching so turning over every stone and pebble. No harm intended.

So the next question is.. if we are having such a hard time finding and knowing God and Jesus.. should they not both reach out and make a special and personal effort to find and know us individually? It is so easily within their power to touch our hearts and convert us each forever?
Why does God not help us?

If your faith is then just based upon what another person has read to you is that not 'putting faith and trust in men', something the Bible itself tells us never to do.
Even today, if you want to study the Bible you will spend more time reading exegetics and commentaries than the Bible itself. Churches exist for the purpose of standardising belief, so they don't just exhort you to read the Bible, they also tell you what it means. This again is other men's thoughts and not God's. If everyone read it independently, churches would become debating societies.Let me ask this. Do you think it's possible to 'know' God and Jesus without having an extensive theological library and being able to quote from it with ease? Is it all about reading and study? Endless dead intellectualism?
Is God only really only for the educated? Is the only way to know God and Jesus through reading a book that is so massively open to being misinterpreted and twisted out of shape as we here all know too well.
How do blind people find God and Jesus, or deaf people, or people with severe mental problems, or people that are just not very smart.
Can one find and 'know' God and Jesus through pure spiritual or emotional, personal experience alone?

If only that was the case Bobcat. Coming to know the true God and Christ seems to have been made into a merely intellectual activity for the smart and well read. For those with a memory for quotes and word manipulation.
Let me ask this. Do you think it's possible to 'know' God and Jesus without having an extensive theological library and being able to quote from it with ease? Is it all about reading and study? More endless dead intellectualism.

Are there no other ways do you think?
