  I need HELP and ADVICE. PLEASE HELP ME PLEASE READ

  6 months ago i was d'fd and i am right now confused as to what i want to do cuse i can put my letter in for reinstatement now but i just dont know if that would be the best desicion for me.

  one side of me says go back to the jw org and do all that i can in the org so that i can make it to the paradise.

  but then one side says just do what u want to do til u die.

  No one here can tell you what the right decision for you is, but I left the Watchtower three years ago and I never regretted it.

  None of us know "the truth" about the afterlife, or God, or anything else outside our physical universe; we're all just imperfect humans trying to make our best guess. If you're worried that the JWs might be right, why not worry that the Catholics might be right, or the Muslims, or the Buddhists? Or maybe atheists (like me) are right, and if you devote your life to religion you'd just be wasting the only life you'll ever have. And if there is a God, would he/she/it really punish the vast majority of humankind for living as best as they know how, but picking the wrong religion?

  It takes time to find the path that's right for you. The important thing is not to let the Witnesses--or anyone else--pressure you into something that doesn't feel right. It can be scary to not have all the answers, but that's life. Anyone who tries to tell you otherwise is either deluded, or trying to sell you something.

  i realize the publication is biased toward the jw doctrines, but is it accurate on the noncontroversial topics.

  i spent good $ on it when it came out, and i wondered if anyone had opinions.

  If you want a Bible encyclopedia that reflects current conservative Christian scholarship, you're probably better off with Anchor Bible Dictionary or something along those lines.

  Elderly British lady gets in trouble with police over JWs sign

  a woman has been told by police that she must remove a sign on her garden gate that reads "our dogs are fed on jehovah's witnesses" because it is "distressing, offensive and inappropriate".

  jean grove, a pensioner, has displayed the sign for 32 years.

  her late husband, gordon, put it up after members of the church banged on their door on christmas day 1974..

  Question about monthly hours, timesheets, etc.

  can anyone think offhand if there has been a thread about keeping hours, the timesheet, etc?

  a friend has some questions, and since i was never a jw myself i am a little hazy on the actual procedure.

  i figured this has probably been discussed many times before, so if anyone has a link to a previous thread, i would appreciate it.. does anyone have a scan of a timesheet?

  Speaking of time reports: we had a bunch of people over for dinner and fireworks-watching yesterday; and an ex-JW friend's never-JW boyfriend found an Organized book on our bookshelf (one of the very few Witness books I've retained) and browsed through it.

  As he put the book away, he said: "Well, I've learned that the way to show godly devotion is to fill out accurate paperwork."

  There were several of us ex-JWs there and we all broke out laughing. It pretty much describes the JWs in a nutshell.

  Governing Body member Gerrit Lösch spoke at my District Convention

  gerrit losch (it's pronounced kinda like "lirsh") did two things at our dc (portland, or june 30-july 2).

  he released the new book about the minor prophets, and he gave the closing talk, the one with the resolution in it.

  first of all, losch was not promoted to the governing body because of his speaking ability.

  One was about sports, he was being all secretive and speaking in a confidential manner: "Jehovah's servants must be careful to avoid sports that exist to promote violence. I REPEAT! Jehovah's servants must be careful to avoid sports that exist to promote violence. Can you think of any sports in the US that exist to promote violence? I won't name any, I'll allow you to draw your own conclusions." Perhaps the fact that we were sitting in an arena that is primarily used for ice hockey had something to do with it.

  Most likely, he had football in mind. (The American form, that is; not what the rest of the world calls football.) According to the Bethelites in the congregation I attended when I lived in NY, Losch was strongly opposed to American football, but he couldn't explicitly forbid it because the rest of the GB didn't agree with him.

  Ouch! It's 90 in Seattle, and this is the first time I'm regretting not having air conditioning. It's supposed to go down into the 70's on Wednesday, though.
