So much happening in WT this year, it's a shame the board is shutting down
by truthseeker ini understand and agree with the reasons simon is shutting down jwd.
it's a terrible shame - without this board i wouldn't have learnt a fraction of what i know now.. and in 2008 where the wt has come out with private/public editions of the wt, ended book studies in private homes, talk of removing circuit overseers, where are we going to get the information now?.
it would be interesting (from a historical perspective) to chart all the jw forums that have come into existence since 1993. .

Finding help in hard times - Network with local houses of worship
by truthseeker ini thought the article below from bankrate.com interesting and useful.
anyone can fall on hard times.
however, i though the info on networking with local houses of worship interesting, because the watchtower, who considers itself a charity, has no program of helping people except giving them spiritual food, the awake!

District Convention: only 1 in 5 witnesses is English speaking
by truthseeker ina "highlight" of the newly revised "good news for all nations" booklet was the fact that it was announced only 1 persons in 5 who are witnesses are english speaking.. in other words, 20% of 6 million dubs speak english - hence the need for the new booklet to deal with all the hundreds of other languages spoken.. what does this mean for future years?
at the turn of last century, most bible students as they were called spoke english.. with rapid growth in third world countries, and decline in europe, it seems that english speaking witnesses will soon be an endangered spieces.. for example, in britain, there has been absolutely no growth whatsoever.
more are leaving than joining, and baptisms are down by over half since the early 90s.

Agents for social change - you know who you are
by truthseeker inwhen the child abuse issue first reared its head, at least one person provided bill bowen with information about the number of alleged child molestors that the society had on file.. below is a quote taken from the bbc service when panorma aired.... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/panorama/2119903.stm.
bill bowen, who has spent his lifetime as a jehovah's witness and nearly twenty years as an elder, says the organisation covers up abuse by keeping this database secret.
his sources indicate there are 23,720 abusers on the list - who are protected by the system.

What changes have resulted from the Society's reorganizing in 2000?
by truthseeker innearly 3 years ago, the gb members resigned from their positions as directors of the organization, to concentrate more fully on the good news and allow them to keep pace with growth.
the article below, which many of you have read before, is interesting as many of the things mentioned in it seem to be happening now, particularly the lawsuits.. http://www.watchman.org/jw/jwreorg.htm.
jehovah's witnesses reorganize the watchtower society.
