Liam,
Do you have a date when we should expect to see some fireworks?
it’s now official - the governing body members are called for legal deposition in a major court case against jehovah’s witnesses!
https://www.reddit.com/r/exjw/comments/1ke6cgh/its_now_official_the_governing_body_members_are/.
recent court documents show that members of the jehovah’s witnesses governing body — including former member tony morris — have been officially subpoenaed to give sworn testimony regarding cases of sexual abuse in new york and how the organization dealt with (or essentially hid) them.
Liam,
Do you have a date when we should expect to see some fireworks?
has any body noticed that the bible reading schedule has been reduced to one chapter per week.
does any one know if this is a policy change or something temporary?
at this rate the complete cycle will take 22 years plus..
Judging from the very poor participation rate in question and answer parts, I can only conclude that very few members of the congregation (Elders and Servants included) don't prepare for the meetings unless they have a part. Thus it makes no differences to the publishers if the GB assigns 5 chapters to read per week ... or just one.
Few will doing it anyway.
i was completely out by 1991 and 1989 would have been the last time i had to attend regularly.
that over the top franz writing style was still there in the 1980's although i've heard he wasn't actually doing much writing by then.
but his style was definitely picked up and imitated for many years beyond its wacky, outlandish peak of the the 50's - 70's.
I don't know why anyone argues with aqwsed12345, when its clear they are using an AI text generator.

From 1975 to 1980, when the Governing Body became a more functional reality, it seems that the passions of individual members (as expressed in Watchtower study articles) became more diluted. However I think that from about the 2000s most of the topics covered on the Sunday meetings were in fact, reprints ... barely updated to include newer statistics.
But after the Simplified Edition was rolled into the normal Watchtower study magazine in 2019, it was clear that beside being written for 14 years olds, we had now entered into a form of JWLITE, were any real or deeper explanation of doctrine had slipped away.
And today it is quite common to find 25-30% of your study article, to be 'experiences' or long (but highly juvenile) illustrations.
i like to take a peek at the kids over on reddit every week or so.. this thread caught my eye:" curious….
do any ex jw or pimo, still believe the world is ending.
i see people who have never been witnesses think that the world will end soon and they say things like “jesus is coming soon”….
My fully PIMI family and extended circle of congregation friends, totally latch onto any bad new (no matter how small) as verification of the fact that we are living in the last days. "How more worse can it get?" is a question regularly asked of me.
But in some ways, there is a ring of hollowness to their views. In that, instead of being driven to more zealousness, most still plan holidays, save for nice things and go out dinning as they have always done. Unlike being on a sinking ship and seeing the boat quickly lowering in the water, would normally induce more activity, for them its just situation normal. Thus while few of my active friends would admit it, I suspect that the Governing Body's constantly crying "wolf" have had its effect, at least on a subconsciousness level.
For myself, as a unashamed PIMO, I don't see anything to support the idea in the news that we are living in the 'end times' based upon my good grasp of history and the Bible.
Yes we have wars today and every war is a tragedy, however none in the 20th and 21st century have been as devastating (on a non-combatant percentage basis) as whats happened in the past. For example the '100 Year' war between England and France in the 1300s ... or the '30 Year' war of the 1600s, that permanently erased whole cities. Then there were the great plagues, where tens of millions regularly died in Europe and Asia. Lets not also forget the religious massacres, the great famines or the Mini Ice age between the years of 1300 and 1850s. All of which provided a good harvest for the grim reaper. All proving, why there were many good reasons that life expectancy in the late middle ages was 45, if you were very lucky.
When will I be judged by God though, I don't know. But from the mercy Christ showed to people while on earth, I don't live in fear of that day ... as I honestly do my best to practice the life Jesus expects ... and trust in his forgiveness.
oh yeah, this is going to end well.
hold on to your seats, folks, we’re on the front row of history for, as the chinese might say, “interesting times”.

Americans make me laugh. They think that their billionaires actually care about their country and the US constitution, as if they are true patriots.
But what happens when a journalist writes or films an article that frames them in a slightly bad light? What happens to the free press, as outlined in the First Amendment? Well ... just look at how your President acts.
usa politicians in charge of the economy for the past 50 years were too stupid to understand how the economy works.
this just proves my theory, that an education on the top tier universities just sucks and means nothing in the real world, unless its in the stem education.
for 50 years usa had zero tariffs on other countries.
I know that Slimbyfat beat me too it but ...
So the smartest businessman in America (who has already been bankrupt 4 times) is now tariffing penguins. Putin must be laughing his ass off, at you guys.
analysis of the property ownership model of jehovah’s witnesses.
jehovah’s witnesses have developed a structured and financially efficient model for acquiring, building, and managing properties worldwide.
their approach maximizes resources contributed by members while ensuring that ownership and financial control remain centralized within the organization.
I think that there is another very important financial thing to conciser.
Now that the Governing Body effectively owns every Kingdom Hall globally (admittedly through its branches), they now have the ability to leverage these extra properties into their portfolio. To either reduce monthly debt repayments through a load restructure or obtain more credit.
Either way, its doubtful we'll ever know.
i was going to write a new topic but now i just can't be bothered ... and i'll tell you why.. on my facebook feed a few days ago, i saw an interview of a couple of onlyfans girls, who said that they were active christians that attended church weekly.
and while i was going to spend some time writing about the virtues of our faith's strict moral standards ... i now understand that i'd only be flamed as a watchtower apologist.. that being said, out of the approximately 4 million onlyfan girls out there ... it obvious, that none are jehovah's witnesses..
peacefulpete
Liam actually said that there were Witness girls who were active OnlyFans 'creators". I was only setting that matter straight, not justifying their presence in the church.
Secondly Liam said that if I was a poor, attractive, young Witness girl ... that I too would take up the OnlyFans path. Which I objected.
Finally, while this will my last post on this topic, I'd like to ask everyone out there ...
Why are so few of you not expressing you personal dislike of the OnlyFans scene? Can you now justify, anything? Is nothing bad, anymore?

Liam if you would like to debate scripture and history, I'm up for it, as I'm well versed in both,
Firstly, doing OnlyFans is in no way comparable to first century prostitution.
Without any form of social security or government support, abandoned wives and their children (which was apparently common in Israel) had no options to support themselves, unless they had other family to return to. And unlike the movies, most people lived day to day, just above the poverty line. So inviting your sister and her kids back into your family long term, would have been a big ask. Recall too, first century had a virtually non-existent technical and middle class, which highly stratified the distribution of wealth. Which meant, most had little in reserve.
On the other hand, women today have a lot more choices and support than back then. Living in a crisis center must not be good at all, but even that is more than what was available back in Biblical times.
Thus its obvious these girls make OnlyFans; a lifestyle choice.
Scripturally Liam, of course we can judge people. We CAN judge them when they CONTINUE in a sinful course. The Bible is plain in this point. However if a person repents and stops disrespecting God's mercy, then of course, we must view them as Jesus did. Otherwise the whole concept of sin, just doesn't work.
The example you used in John chapter 8 actually supports my argument, not yours. In that the woman in question clearly displayed a contrite and repentant attitude a Jesus's feet. She was also a adulteress not a prostitute who was in the 'business'. Which is a far cry from the shameless OnlyFans girls who publicly promote their 'alternate lifestyle' ... unlike street prostitutes who work in the shadows of society.
People can make wrong choices in life and end up in a bad place ... but like the prodigal son in Luke 15, a person must be willing stop what they doing, to receive forgiveness and a new start.
