I know from first hand experience that not all halls are built to the same standards. I remember when I attended a KH in a developing country. Although the work was ok, it clearly was very rough. And I remember in the bath room seeing open wires hanging out from a power point. Which I just thought was out right dangerous. But hey it didn't worry the locals so why should it worry me. I'm guessing it's something like this that has caused the problem in Congo.

Education makes you leave God
by FusionTheism inquote from the watchtower, simplified edition, september 2015, "how can we show that we love jehovah?".
higher education often makes them lose their love for god..

Well if that is true. Then what about the Mormon church. They are bigger and richer than the JWS, although I do concede they have a more outrageous belief system. They fund universities and encourage higher learning, and although they have much the same issues as witnesses e.g internet, they are still performing better than the witnesses. If this was true then the Mormon church would be loosing more members than the JWS. -

Unscripturally Free To Be Married - the Contradications
by Ohiamfree inso far i have worked out 2 challenges to this ridiculous, stupid cruel imposed rule that results in disfellowshipping.
(1) if someone is still scriptually married after a divorce, and moved back in with their ex, they would be disfellowshipped.
so then on what grounds did you ever mean someone was still married?

Actually I heard of something a few years back that resonates with other posts her. A women had divorced her husband before becoming a witness. Anyway meets a man in the jws and decides to marry. Then on meeting with the elders she is informed that she isn't free to remarry because there is no proof that her x has committed the sin. I think the 2 witness rule was also applied to this as well. She said (well at least from the gossip I heard) this is ridiculous because my x is living with a women, and you can't tell me that aren't having sex. Anyway cut a long story short she ended up having to write her x husband a letter asking him if he had sex or not, before she got the all clear. I would love to know what went through the wordly x husbands mind when he read the letter. -

After 2 years my parents make contact. The end result is that I promise them to cryogenically preserve ONLY their heads
by paulmolark init has been 2 and a half years since my departure from the religion.
i was told by my parents from the start that i would never speak to them until i returned to jehovah dog.
a few months later they told people they hoped i died before the end came, then all of this culminating in them telling my inactive / fading sister that they don't consider me a child anymore and they have given me up to satan.

That's why fading is always the best option. It sort of lessens/ eliminates all these sorts of dramas. I was thinking about this yesterday when I was taking my long term JW grandmother out for the day. The sweet old thing she is nearly 90 and we had an enjoyable day. Took her back to her jw daughter, and they thanked me and had a cup of tea with them. No drama no religion. Why? Because I got involved on this Web site while still active. I knew the loop holes and how to play the game and proceeded accordingly. -

wt and charity
by zeb ini know of no charitable work by wt.
.
hm of the r&f live in poor situations who could be helped, raised out of their situation using the vast resources of the wt.. the wt could run job search programs to help unemployed get work.. it could run its own medical insurance in countries where such is prohibitively expensive.. " but if anyone has the worlds goods and sees a brother in need yet closes his hand against him how does gods love abide in him?

Just amazes me how they will spend hundreds of millions of dollars and billions of man hours in an unpleasant highly stressful situation knocking on peoples doors and yet couldnt spend a couple minutes knocking on a fellow congregation members door to see if he needs a hand with something. -

Just how is JW org doing?
by Half banana ini started posting on the ex community about five years ago since two of my children have remained under the jw spell.
back then i had little tangible hope of seeing the downfall of the org.
i now see evidence of big cracks forming in their hermetic carapace..

Mainstreaming is the only way they will survive. They have to get more positive information out there on the Internet. It's certainly doing them no favours when 99.9% of the information from a Google search is damning. -

WT is shorting literature orders by congregation with a problem contributing enough for literature $3500 just for mags
by oppostate inat our meeting last night there was a talk about having run out of magazines for the last three months.
it's expected this will continue to happen.
the "branch" has not sent the requested number of magazines.

I was just thinking if most of the publishers were direct crediting their money to WBTS, of course the congregation account is going to look bad because the money isn't been channeled though the congs account but directly from the publishers bank account. For the society to be able to make this statement they must be monitoring the bank transactions and and the areas these transactions are been made. -

If WTBTS ever went into liquidation what would be the situation with the Kingdom Halls
by joe134cd ini'm asking this question purely from an accountant perspective.
now that wt owns the kingdom halls would this mean that if they went into liquidation that a creditor could also get his hands on the halls as well.
from a paper perspective would it of been more advantageous for the khs to be stand alone entities in which wtbts had no interest in - as under the old system and assuming we live in a perfect world e.g menlo park / texas.
