Reddit thread on convention video urging cutting off contact with Faders

i just read this.

don’t know if anybody here has seen the video.. the intended result of this is to obviously scare ‘faders’ out of the shadows.

now, they are being threatened with loss of association with their loved ones and friends.

If this is the video with the 2 guys, I can honestly say I'm floored by it.

1. It's infantile.

2. It's completely the opposite of how Jesus behaved. Even HE heard out Satan in the garden, spoke to him, etc.

3. The fact that the JW guy comes off like an unreasonable toddler is not lost on me, while the supposed "Apostate!" is level-headed and logical.

4. The real head turner: When the JW states that if his soon-to-be-ex-friend doesn't "turn himself in to his Elders, than I will!" Then turns and storms off like a toddler. This is the same shit the Nazi's trained into the children while they were growing up in the Hitler Youth. They were trained to turn in not only friends, but also any family who dared to speak negatively about the Fuhrer or the Party to the Gestapo.

It's wild how truly "culty" this segment was. It will absolutely wake some people up. Their minds will simply explode viewing the stupidity of it all. There's been talk of PIMO's high up planting these types of ideas into video segments, and I can almost believe it! If so, I congratulate them and say, "Bravo!"

the only part that managed to stir anything within me was a single video on day one titled “what does jesus see in you?”—a piece with sentimental appeal, but still surface-level at best.. .

not even as active as the jws (whom i have not seen for around a year now), nevertheless i get an occasional leaflet or other publication in my letterbox that seems to be seventh day adventist in origin.. the booklet i received the other day was entitled "national sunday law".

i also had received this book years ago when i had some dealings with the sdas.. from reddit: "national sunday law involves a conspiracy theory which alleges that the united states government is on the verge of enacting a national blue law that would make sunday a day of rest and worship.

the theory depends on the idea that the pope is the antichrist and the mark of the beast is worshipped on sunday.

That Creation film was about the most original thing he put out. Oh! And the Leviathan being a steam locomotive, and it's tongue was the front coupling. Wow! That having to declare at Baptism that Ellen G. White is a Prophet, is strangely familiar! It's like the JW baptism vows of being baptized "in the name of the Father, the Son, and God's spirit-directed Organization on Earth".

I'd like to note this about SDA's of today: There have been several splits among the SDA's. Some believe in the Trinity, some don't. Some allow women pastors now, some don't. I also believe there are some regions that no longer consider Ellen G. White a "prophet", but merely a bit inspired.

From the SDA's, there's also been many splinter groups. Most notably, down thru the years.....The Branch Davidian's. (Davish Koresh)

I once viewed like a 2 hour lecture from a college professor or something on Youtube, and he laid out using visual aides and specified how they all branched out from the Millerite Movement and The Great Disappointment. It was absolutely fascinating!

That "other guy that put out a monthly magazine" is probably Harold Camping. He was more famous for radio network. He had a good many followers. He was like another Frederick Franz, spouting off end-times nonsense ad nauseam for decades until HIS End, in 2013.

I'm in Pennsylvania. I'm not surprised by this. We've got a LOT of SDA in the area, along with their schools and hospitals. Hey, at least they have them! (JW's have NOTHING!)

Anyway, as I was finally convinced JW's were a cult about 25 years ago, a much younger me started to look around at similar faiths. Of course, I looked into SDA's, whom had similar belief structure. It would have been so easy to slip right in, adapt to their beliefs, diet, Saturday Sabbath, etc.

Why didn't I? Well, once I started looking harder, I saw that it was same cult shit, different flavour. Basically JW cult cousins. Branched right off from the the Millerite "Great Disappointment", with another fruit-loop "prophet" - Ellen G. White.

You also had an Elder Body, shunning, rules out the ass, etc. It was all too familiar and cultish. I "Noped" it right out of there before I even attended (1) meeting. How? All from internet research and speaking to a few members.

Anyway, years ago by. Around 2010 or so I was the York Fair. JW's had a tent and table I believe. They do this every year now. No one comes up to them. One year, the Fair put them next to the pigmy goat petting/feeding zoo outside. I laughed my ass off at the irony of that. Anyway, further down inside a pavilion with some other religious groups, I came upon an SDA table with literature. I picked some up and browsed thru some of it. OMG!!! I was so weird, cause was SOOOOO much like JW literature. Gloom and Doom, petting pandas in Paradise ala Live Forever Book....... that I was really taken aback. What, do these cults all share the same Art Department? Makes you wonder. It was a trip seeing that stuff.

So how is a loving God going to judge people who belong to either group? How can you say 1 group is right, and the other is wrong, when they are damn near identical? It's insane to think that. A loving God would have exercise leniency and mercy. GRACE. You know, what JW's know nothing about?

WatchTower are scumbags for doing this, just like Scientology. Think this won't get out and around in JW circles? That WT is suiting a Whistleblower who's done nothing but expose their CSA problem?

I hope Mark or others can get some real large media attention drawn to this. Like Spotlight did up in Boston when dealing with the Catholic Church. It could really help Mark, and totally backfire on the Org.

Instead of bunkering down, Mark needs to ramp up and start hitting up every media contact he has at Atlantic, the Philadelphia Inquirer, The Guardian, NY Times, NY Post, Washington Post, Sydney Morning Herald, you name it. Really put the spotlight on how low WatchTower is.

This shit is so unreal to me. Hell, I went weak in the knees when I first heard Martin Haugh's account of how WT HQ directed them to toss out not just old light literature, but also how they directed his Elder's to buy a large shredder and start destroying evidence dealing with cases that JC's had handled thru the years. (Sarah Brooks case, etc, etc in those PA congregations) This is some wicked, evil, shit! As if you needed even MORE evidence of this being a man-made CULT with ZERO Holy Spirit involved, I give you - All of THIS shit! SMFH. How do these clowns sleep at night? Oh that's right, I forgot. Behind an entire slimy legal dept on a lakeshore compound bought and paid for by the donations of others.

Apparently, it was a confidential Elduhzzz only meeting between local Congregation Elders and their lawyers on a Zoom call. Someone (some Elder or MS probably) who is really "out" was able to share the link and password with Mark and he was able to listen in and record, etc. He then made a summary Youtube video exposing what they were up to. After the suit was filed, he removed the YouTube video.

WatchTower can't win this one. Firstly, because Mark is an established journalist at this point working with publications and social media around the globe. He has 1st Amendment and journalistic protection and WatchTower knows it. That isn't the point to WatchTower. They want to ruin him by draining all his money fighting the suit. Win, while losing, by attrition.

Here's what's really jaw-dropping; they are suiting him for "loss of income." As-in, because of what he exposed in his Youtube segment, they are claiming he cost them money. Just like any other "Corporation." They are also demanding he hand over all ex-JW contacts that he's spoken to going back several years. You know, so they can proceed to disfellowship any still-in moles or one sympathetic to the CSA cause. Round up the leaks and plug them.

WatchTower can go fugg themselves. They will NEVER get that from Mark. A journalist 100% can not be forced to name their sources. Also, I suspect he may also have Whistleblower protection. WT is barking the wrong tree on this one, and I wonder what else they're attempting to hide. Possibly all the evidence of them demanding that interrogation notes of CSA victims from the Judicial Committee Meetings be shredded, as they did in the Sarah Brooks case? (as reported all over by ex-JW Elder Martin Haugh) I didn't read which 11 Pennsylvania Congregations it is, but I suspect they're mostly in the south-central PA region, which is absolutely overflowing at the brim with child sexual abuse cases. What's been reported since 2016 is merely the tip of the iceberg.

Hey WT HQ: You still letting that anointed pedophile (former Elder) who molested his children remain in good standing in the Mount Joy Congregation? He still able to give Assembly parts and no one is the wiser? Guess Legal Dept is too busy silencing the abused and whisteblowers to go after that sick twisted freak, huh?

So let me get this straight; you have a religion that's been caught with it's pants down all over the world covering up child sexual abuse, protecting pedophiles, victim-shaming the abused, and shuffling around known predators to other Congregations, but instead of tackling THOSE issues, you instead as an Organization, file suit against a known whistleblower like Mark O'Donnell who has done nothing but good and who's wife is a victim of abuse herself?

Man, you can't make this shit up! I'd been saying it for a long time now, but ever since the JW's have been caught with their pants down and members taking notice and discovering the "Truth about the Truth", that eventually they'll become just like the other cults with litigation to attempt to silence the abused and whistleblowers, ala Scientology-style. Welp, here we are!

Now, specifically this is 11 Congregations (so far). But we all know that 11 Congregations didn't do this on their own. Haha! Nope. Remember, the tools at the local level can't even decide on their own which TV to purchase for the Kingdom Hall, or whom to have service their HVAC system. Probably can't even order their own preference of toilet paper without the direct say-so and permission from the CO and LDC. So does anyone really buy that 11 Congregations got together to file a civil suit again Mark on charges he illegally wire-tapped? Uh, Noooooo. Not buying that.

WT HQ and Legal Dept: You are a bunch of slimy, low-life, weaselly mutherfuggers! You all would make the Pharisees blush with your tactics. The fact that you force NDA's on abuse victims before settling their lawsuits, who are brave enough to sue you for your covering up and protecting of pedophile Elders speaks volumes, as does your lying right to the courts.

Did the Fred Franz style of writing cease after he died?

i was completely out by 1991 and 1989 would have been the last time i had to attend regularly.

that over the top franz writing style was still there in the 1980's although i've heard he wasn't actually doing much writing by then.

but his style was definitely picked up and imitated for many years beyond its wacky, outlandish peak of the the 50's - 70's.

Writers of 1970's: Fred Franz was the most influential, but by the 70's others had stepped in to help him. Ray Franz, Ed Dunlap (Commentary of James) and many others. So of course the style and prose of the literature was different depending on the piece and if they had written it more themselves or as a committee of group or authors overseen by the Writing Committee. I'd the 50's - 60's really reeked of Fred Franz's ranting types and anti-types prophetic nonsense.
