for an honest hearted person here is very little that upsets them like a double standard one rule for me and another for you.
for any current jw who may read this ask yourself , why would the society commend these folks for their actions and yet df you for doing the very same thing.
i have stated on many occasions that the writing dept often times writes excellent articles and this on in my opiion is no exception.
Good post JT, The double standards are clear for all to see.Congratulating some on challenging their own church's teaching but woe betide any witness who expresses doubts about the 'Truth' (tm). The same can be true when they encourage others to seriously examine their own religion for fault finding but balk at anyone whi is negative about the WT's teaching. Hypocrisy of the worst order and more blatantly so for it's premeditation .
why is it that even though your not disfellowshipped or dissasociated and you start questioning the things you thought where truth about the org.
your so-called family members avoid you like the plague?.i find it quite comical to see how different they treat you, leaving the "truth" and keeping your mouth shut they can handle, but once you start questioning the so-called faithful and discreet slave, all hell breaks loose !!!
i,ve been accused of being anti-witness,apostate (which i dont mind) and been told that i,ve spat in the face of jah all because i have openly expressed my opinions about the org.
Good point, Especially when they put on a superior look as they walk past you or through you. Most try and avoid you by diving down the next aisle or racing past you with their trolley... How really silly can one get.....[8>]
ever since i departed the jw`s, i have pooh - pooh`d the idea of satan, devils, demons, witches and warlocks and laughed at jw paranoia re smurfs and demonised objects etc etc.. just recently, i have had some thoughts as to why jw`s are so obsessive about this subject, suppose that:.
what if the jw religion were itself of satanic origin?
Joelbear, The argument of JW's used to be that the demons would leave you alone when you became a JW,so it would be difficult for them to criticise you if after leaving the JW's the demons stopped harassing you. However,a few did seem to show signs of mental illness and I wonder if the WT routine had anything to do with this ie: the continual guilt trip.

Englishman, The points that you raise are valid, and don't forget those cheeky subliminal images which appear in certain publications .The idea of a counterfeit copy of Christianity as satanic inspired has been in Christianity for centuries (wheat and the weeds). However, old nick dropped a real clanger in choosing JW's,couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery without changing the drinks back and forth in a flip flop fashion But you are right with the demonic stories they are petrified about them and as for the glazed expression, that has always been de rigeur.
all irregular and inactive publishers will be pleased with the heartwarming news that april will see a special campaign by the elders to encourage you.
yes, don't faint, it must be true because the april kingdom ministry says so.
in fact, so strong is the forecasted encouragement, that it states on paragraph 25 of the insert article:.
chag and i were having a chuckle recently about how god was starting to resemble charlton heston, (or maybe it was the other way around), so i thought: which famous personages do the past presidents of the wtbts resemble most?.
charles t russell...........charles darwin.. judge rutherford............w.c.fields.. n.h.knorr...................phil silvers.
Englishman, Yep,you're spot on with the Rutherford doppleganger, especially that photo when he has his hat tipped up and he's drinking some moonshine with other bethelites.
you may always have believed that the preaching work was directed by jesus, who in his parting words to his disciples said: .
"all authority has been given me in heaven and on the earth.
go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things i have commanded you.
Excellent way to save money too.Think of the saving in food and wine and hiring public halls. All that money can now be lovingly donated to the worldwide work (tm)
then the kings of the earth and the great men and the generals and the rich and the strong, and everyone, slave and free, hid in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, calling to the mountains and rocks, "fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the lamb; for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand before it?".
some of the kings of the earth and their supporters are aware of what the bible book of revelation says concerning the time of the end and their destruction for not having acknowledge jehovah's rulership and sovereignty, also they have failed to acknowledge jesus as king of kings and lord of lords in subject to the great king jehovah god.. the scriptures have put satan's system on notice but few take notice.
MDS, Some good comments there on the corrupt, self serving nature of the higher up WTS officials, and bogus 'equalizing' of resources with the less fortunate.
Yes Iarc, Your figures are good.Rutherford's rule had little impact on growth as it brought about the Bible Student schism followed by the exodus after 1925.He,however,got them noticed by adopting the social exclusion policies with which we are so familiar. This allowed Knorr,as a hard nosed businessman,to provide the tools to allow the JW's to expand. As it started to grow, the need to maintain this growth became the overriding priority in society policy. The GB did not exist until the seventies. Before that there was Russell,Rutherford and Knorr and their word was law. Ray Franz's account of the arguments/tussles over this issue are worth reading.
1898 "god .. evidently has been a respecter of races, and has specially blessed and favored certain branches of the aryan race in europe and america.. the white race has been more abundantly blessed with the light of the gospel than others .. the elect church will probably be composed chiefly of the highly favored white race.." {evol 30-1}.
1900 "there are probably as many as a hundred colored brethren on the watch tower lists, some of them very clear in the truth, and very earnest in its service, financially and other-wise .. [but they are not allowed to participate in the "pioneer work" as] although we have received letters from several of these, who had intended engaging in the volunteer work, expressing surprise that in the call for volunteers in the march 1, 1900 issue we restricted the inquiry to white protestant churches.
.. the reason is that so far as we are able to judge, colored people have less education than whites - many of them quite insufficient to permit them to profit by such reading as we have to give forth.
Hi Somebody, Good post, what was that quote from the 1990 WT that for the last 120 years the WT has been publishing ''delightful words of truth''.I'm glad that you've been studying your old Watchtowers like the Society suggested for further spiritual enlightenment. Soon they'll be demanding that you appear so that you can spread your Russell inspired wisdom with the brothers.
