Did you ever needlessly quit ajob as a witness ?

my wife has a friend ( male ) with a six month old baby who just decided to be unemployed and had a fairly good paying job.

without giving up too much information it seems quite weird.

the reason i ask is because i have been in meetings and assemblies and some of the advice they like to give doesn't seem very intelligence about being a productive member of society.

I've never quit a job because I was a JW, but I had taken some gawd awful jobs because I was one. There was one time, and it was a serious matter involving jobs and my husband.

Back in between the years of 2000 and 2001, my husband worked very long shift hours, and it involved him missing quite a few of their meetings. Our family was having some serious financial issues involving many different things, and it was because of his income we were able to make ends meet. They tried many different tactics to guilt him into quitting his job, which would have left us without any income. He didn't fall for it, at the time I didn't know that he no longer believed the crap that was coming from the Watchtower.

Christian or Atheists?

in my brief time on this site, i've come to realize that most people who have been shunned or stray away from the jehovah witnesses normally end up having no faith at all.

my curiosity has led me to the conclusion that the gb has created more atheists than believers...... .

I don't feel that the GB has caused people who leave to lose faith in God or spiritual things. The thing I have noticed about this is that once a person gets a chance to think for themselves and fully figure out what is right for them, they end up going down different paths. The most import part is that finally, a person is able to think for themselves, and ask questions. Once those are answered, they will then decide what to do. As far as most becoming Atheist I do not believe this.

Advice on Disassociating

hello my exjw/pimo/pomo friends,.

i am working on penning my da letter and wondered if i should use it as a tool to maybe wake up individuals as the boe will have to read it.. anyone have any advice on what i should say versus what i should leave out?

i am not going to fade as my family can either be loyal to blood or loyal to a man made religion.

Back in June 2001, I had decided that I didn't want to be associated with the JWs or the Watchtower (my mother became a JW back in the early 1970s when I was 4. At the time I had written a DA letter, but I didn't send it in, because I was attempting to fade out of the religion. The main thing I brought up was how the Watchtower has shown itself as a false prophet. My mother became a JW because they had lied to her and actually told her that in the fall of 1975 it would be the end of this system of things, and she would be reunited with her baby girl who had died a couple of years before that.

It was my brother in law who pushed the issues, and it came down to either being DF (was checking out a church) or DA myself. Looking back there were things I wished I had done differently, but it's too late now. I don't regret sending in my letter, because it did, for the most part put an end to the mind games that my dysfunctional JW relatives were playing on me.

The ExJW Critical Thinker on Youtube does have some very helpful information regarding this decision, and it was something I really wished I had known when I made this decision. Here is a link to a few of those videos.

The Organizations obsession with image.

as we all know, the highest priority or concern in the religion isn’t about adhering to god’s word or obeying jehovah and jesus, but rather the image of the organization and all its members.

just yesterday there was a talk where the brother stated how important it is to keep our homes clean, yards free of junk piling up and cars clean, because it could possibly detract from the message.

besides those things he mentioned, they want all males to never grow a beard or goatee.

I remember the first time the whole appearance struck me as odd, was back when I was in high school, and before I was baptized. There was a young single brother in my congregation, and his sister came to visit him (for about a month). His sister was a regular pioneer at the time. I remember my mom having a fit because she was staying with him at his home, and how it did not look right that two single people be living together. Everyone knew who she was, including their neighbors, and no one thought anything about that.

I'm not sure if there were any others in the congregation who had a fit about it, but I do know that a short time after that, the young brother disassociated himself, and immediately after that joined up with the military.

Incognito said something that reminded me of something. I know at the moment you are probably not thinking about it, but it would be a very wise idea to discuss with your doctor, and put down on paper your wishes in case of a medical emergency regarding blood. Hopefully, everything goes smoothly regarding your birth, but just in case there are any complications that might happen. Even past that, make sure your wishes will be honored in case of an accident that would require emergency medical attention. If you leave this in the hands of your future husband, most likely he will prevent the doctors from giving you a blood transfusion.

What is some good information I can anonymously give my neighbor (foreign language)?

eight years ago the jws were making return visits with my spanish speaking neighbor (she speaks very little english).

they were calling on her during a period in her life that things were not so good.

i already know that jws love to take opportunities like this to try to suck someone into their cult.

Eight years ago the JWs were making return visits with my Spanish speaking neighbor (she speaks very little English). They were calling on her during a period in her life that things were not so good. I already know that JWs love to take opportunities like this to try to suck someone into their cult. Back then I had left some information in her door (she does not own a computer, nor does she use one), that warned her what she was getting involved with. It worked because shortly after that the JWs stopped coming to her home.

And now they are back at it again, but this time I want to warn her about the pedophile problem that is getting exposed to the world. Her young adult daughter is living back home with her, along with her 2-year-old granddaughter. The reason for her daughter's break up with her current ex is because he was caught by grandma (my neighbor) when he was getting ready to violate her granddaughter. I want to print up some information on how the Watchtower is getting exposed as a religion that is punishing the victims while protecting the predators. I want to leave this for her so she will know what goes on, in that cult. No one knows that I use to be a JW in my area and I want to keep it that way.

What are some good sites information that I can print off, and in Spanish, dealing with this topic?

How do they decide when to get rid of certain information in their publications?

i was recently watching a video on youtube and on the john cedars channel, he was talking about how the watchtower has discontinued quite a few of their books from back when i was still active.

so it got me to thinking about how do they decide that certain teaching doesn't fit them anymore.

so i was wondering does anyone have any ideas on how they come to that decision because if any of their members bring up something, that person can be disfellowshipped?.

To a JW, a worldly person is someone who is not a member of the Jehovah's Witness. It does not matter who they are or what they are doing in life.

What is his reason for wanting to go back? Most of the time it is pressure from JW relatives and the threat of losing those loved ones.

Please do plenty of research on this religion, your child's mental well being will depend on it.

Introduction

i have been in crisis regarding the international problem of the way child abuse has been handled in the wt organization.

i have been dealing with serious health issues that made it necessary for me to go on permanent disability since 2015. since then my health has gotten worse making it nearly impossible to attend meetings.

in this period i have received no spiritual or other help of any kind.

I was in a similar situation 18 years ago, but it was involving my son. He spent a week in the hospital, and the had to spend the next month recuperating at home. He was not allowed to be around anyone other than the immediate family, to give his immune system a chance to recover without the dangers of catching something. Not once did anyone call or stop by to see how we were doing, not even to bring us spiritual food. The only thing they said to me was that I had better make it to the upcoming district convention.

To make a long story short, I decided to finally get in and research everything I could find regarding the Watchtower and was quite shocked about what I had learned. Also, I found someone (she was not a JW) that I could ask quite a few of those nagging questions and got answers. By the time I was finished, it was like a ten-ton boulder had been lifted off of my shoulders.

Something I want to mention to you, you said you are dealing with depression. There are quite a few JWs who while they were involved with the organization they were also dealing with mental health issues. Around a year after getting away, they found that those issues had cleared up, and they were the care of their own doctors.

Do You See JWs Going From House to House Anymore?

i used to see them in my neighborhood or while driving.

there is a hispanic congregation nearby.

i used to see witnesses out all the time, some even doing the slow pioneer shuffle.

My husband just saw them at our neighbor's door only yesterday. I've already warned her a while back about them.
