i have just read a post about february 2025 (i suppose) announcements in italy saying that from now on at assemblies they need a pass, given by elders, to put on cars.. is that possible/true?.

Assemblies in my youth were roll up in your car. Park your car were you liked right next to the ground/stadium in a field -- then set up a comfy camp with your deckchairs/tarp etc
Then after midmorning the smell of the bacon baps used give us the incentive to hang in till the generous lunch break -
It's all changed now - i don't miss assembles and i am so glad I will never have to attend another one ever.
speaking to an old elder friend recently about his decision to home school his high school aged kids.. he claims that here in australia, about 30% of the students that log into online classrooms are jw's.
the others are disabled kids - who cant physically attend class and the rest are long distance students.. another generation of under-educated jw kids on the way..
I don't represent everyone and it does work for some - but every single JW homeschooled kid I came across growing up in the UK was seriously odd - the parents were even odder.
i've just remembered that i attended a hall where one of the brothers consistently quoted daily mail articles to back up his answers during the meetings.
i found it hard to keep a straight face when the inevitable daily mail article was quoted to 'prove' a bible passage at each meeting.. no one really seemed to mind and i remember one time i spoke to an elder and said this has to stop as he is passing off tabloid tattle as hard fact.. elder wasn't interested.
i guess as long as the answers backed up the party line no one cared..
Yes! We had a similar elder who seemed to weave Peter Hitchens pronouncements into his every answer too..
This was almost matched by his violent distaste for 'The Gallow-hair Brothers' (from Oasis) as he pronounced them at almost every meeting..
i tend to keep my personal beliefs separate from my posts.. i know that is often different from others as their posts as often one and the same with their opinions.
i think that is good.
you get to learn a lot about people that way.

I sometimes wonder if they did a U turn about Christmas how would they word it, in their unique style of making the publishers look like it was their fault own for NOT celebrating it in the recent past..

That horrible elder mindset above was so common everywhere I attended too.
Gone are the days (in the 1980's) when one seriously balding, older looking brother was appointed as an elder - I heard later that when the c.o. learnt after his appointment he was only 23, he was seriously shocked - but the appointment stood..
Now 23 would be old for an older man!!
