I must clarify my post. I don't believe that this is necessarily a "flip flop" after all. After much mediation on this week's Watchtower study, I think the organization is simply identifying each sexual act within marriage as a conscience decision that will differ from couple to couple.

I don't believe this rescinded any previous "direction", and I still feel that the org will always secretly view "oral", "anal" and the like as "perverse", but now do not want to get involved, undoubtedly for legal reasons.

I apologise for any misinformation I may have spread regarding this footnote, even though it is still a "clarified belief". I now understand it to be a "conscience decision" rather than a permissive attitude towards any sexual activity now.

If you can stomach reading this brother's experience via this link, please let me know your views. For one thing, I'm absolutely dumbfounded that this website JWtalk even exists considering all the warnings the Governing Body have given the org on not creating their own websites. Furthermore, the experience given is absolutely horrible. In my life experience these past 7 decades, I have observed this same nasty and controlling atmosphere from elders: "let's make an issue out of nothing". It's almost as if when elders aren't so "busy", they need to magnify the smallest of an issue to make it seem like they're actually doing their "shepherding" duties. When elders make you feel bad about something that never goes against a bible principle, questioning your sanity, ask yourself:

"Am I the one who needs to work on humility, or is it not in fact the elders who need to do so?"

I hope the OP on JWtalk migrates over here, sees this post and rids himself of all the improper feelings of guilt, freeing himself from the shackles of the Organization.

i swear, you can't make this shit up!

for years and years growing up in this cult, i had to constantly hear from my parents, from the stage, in the literature, about "keeping your eye simple", not being "materialistic", not "having a showy display of one's wealth.

" of course, this never seemed to apply to the wealthy business owning elduhzzzz who ran and lorded it out over the congregations, but i digress.

Oh this is just a general example of the great many hypocritical things the GB do. Remember Herd's Rolex and Lett's pinky rings? And let's not forget the million dollar suits that they wear on Broadcasts!

Additionally, as I always say about new GB members, new changes occur when additions are made. Mr Jedele's introduction to the GB strangely coincided with the "don't ask, don't tell" adjustment towards "marital intimacies".

Someone new on the GB still wanted a BJ from their wife!

This is one of the most ridiculous articles I have read recently. The wording is charged with speculation. The idea that Jesus didn't provide specific direction as to where to go, and years later elders in first century congregations decided how to direct the Christians to safety is such an ingenious ploy by Watchtower. Why?

Because Watchtower knows that when they give "direction" that never makes sense, they will gradually move the goalpost or change approach so as to make their decisions more believable. More importantly, Watchtower is still holding to the key scriptural interpretation they use "the light gets brighter". I call utter BS on this article. How dare they even suggest that Jesus' sayings aren't enough!

When JW's say they are 'In the truth'...

where did this phrase 'in the truth' come from?.

is it from the time they were promoting 'the truth shall make you free' book back in 1943?

One thing Jehovah’s Witnesses have been correct on is the idea that the first century Christians referred to their religion as The Way. Their current bible glossary makes mention of this.

An expression used figuratively in the Scriptures to refer to a mode of action or conduct that is either approved or disapproved by Jehovah. Those who became followers of Jesus Christ were spoken of as belonging to “The Way,” that is, they kept a way of life centered on faith in Jesus Christ, following his example.—Ac 19:9.

However, JWs don't use this. And why jws didn't adopt this phrase baffles me. You would think they would attempt to say that they are in "The Way", the way they go on about doing their best to mimic first century Christianity. But I suppose that would associate them too much with Jesus Christ. Not that saying The Truth changes that, since Jesus is called "The Way, The Truth and the Life"
