  Nightmares

  first of all, i have severe arachnophobia.

  rationally, i know most spiders are harmless, but something takes over my brain and my body when i see one........i totally freak out, i can't help it.

  they are little pieces of death, wrapped in scarey...... .

  I'm that way with Wasps and bees...really bad! I got stundg one time in my 60 odd years and I think it was a yellow jacket. It bit me on the inside of my leg andstayed there! I had to literally tug to get it out of my leg. I swear that thing had teeth! Hurt like the devil and my leg swelled up.

  Ever since I have been terrified of them. I wonder if possibly I am allergic to them? Maybe that's why the fear.

  And if you think a spider in the car is bad try a daddy long legs on you steering wheel staring at you between your hands gripping the wheel!

  On a major highway!

  I couldn't get off fast enough. Thank god it wasn't rush hour! I was sweating!!!!!

  I flew all four doors open (after I pulled over)and ran around the car like a crazy person...

  Car inspection woes

  i'm sure texas isn't much different from any other state.. we want clean air.

  so, the auto manufacturers came up with a glorified box of charcoal that "filters" out the pollutants (simultaneously making the energy output less efficient requiring yet more fuel) called a catalytic converter.. most cars' converter lasts about 10 years.. .

  i'm driving a honda accord from 1998. the coverter has given up the ghost and i don't pass the nox tests.. so.... i can't renew my registration and have to spend about $1700 to replace that stupid box of charcoal.. .

  Terry, I looked up the 1998 Honda and it says it should cost between $433. to $1,189. Depending on what kind of parts they use. Original or Generic.

  IN Missouri mine doesn't need a emmision check either, It's a 1995, but, my car sounded like a truck going down the road. I thought it was the muffler..got a firestone quote of almost $1,000. They said it ws a rusted connection that could be patched with a piece of flex pipe. They could just "Patch" it for around $300. (This was offered after my "Good God" explanation..lol
  I told him I would think about it..he said it would do the job just patching it..

  WELL..I took it to my daughter's limo company and had their mechanic look at it..he said the entire pipe was rusted and needed to be replaced., patching wouldn't fix it..It goes from one end of the car to the other. He got one for $230. where Firestone said they cost almost $700.

  He installed it for free..pays to have friends.. Course I tipped him big..He saved me a bundle.

  I found this great site to let you know what a repair SHOULD cost and let you know if you are getting ripped off!

  Conservation of Momentum

  The idea of the Earth's orbit or rotation being disturbed is a common catastrophe theme, exploited in movies such as The Day the Earth Caught Fire, not to mention the theories of Velikovsky. In The Day the Earth Caught Fire, nuclear explosions send Earth spiraling toward the Sun, and only a last-ditch counter-explosion saves the world. The movie features one of the best scripts of any science-fiction film, but the story line is impossible. Unless mass were expelled from the Earth, or some force were applied from outside the Earth, it would be impossible to change the Earth's orbit or rotation. To see this, sit in a swivel chair equipped with casters. Now, without touching the floor or anything outside the chair, try to get the chair rotating. Try to move it across the floor. Its just about impossible (that you can do it at all is due to a small amount of friction between the chair and the floor.) The principle here is called conservation of momentum. While in the chair, you are an isolated system. You had zero rotational momentum to begin with, and zero linear momentum, and regardless of what you do, zero they stay. What little motion you impart to the chair results from there being some friction in the casters and swivel, so that you do interact very slightly with the floor. An astronaut floating free in space without a safety line or propulsion would be utterly helpless to reach safety even a few feet away. He would have no way to acquire momentum. Nothing acting solely from on or within the Earth could change its orbit or seriously alter its rotation.

  PACIFIC on Tsunami alert after biggest quake ever recorded hits Japan

  japan was hit by a 30 metre wave after an 8.9 superquake.

  10 metres is not 13 feet, as stated on another post, a metre is over three feet.. hawaii, phillipines and west coast of us on alert.. is anybody in the affected areas?.

  IN watching the video's of the tsunami I am reminded of the movie Dannis Quaid made 'The day after Tomorrow". It showed a flood in NY..they watched as big ocean liners went by ..

  So times movies are so believable you start thinking "What if?"..

  I recently heard of a policeman that was bitten by someone that had a contagious disease (and knew it) and thought of the movie with Will Smith called "Legends"..

  Also wondering how much the earth can take before it is tilted out of orbit..

  Where the quake happens is often a lot more important than how high on the scale it is.

  Apparently the Watchtower still has influence over those commenting about "The end"..

  AS far as watching the video's I don't think I can watch any more..seeing the cars going over waterfalls and wondering if poeple were in them was just too much for me as FHN wrote...

  I wonder how far inland that went. It is chilling to watch those cars traveling along the roads, with unsuspecting people inside.

  They just said that the quake they had in Chili was 9.5

  It is not the biggest quake ever recorded - the 1964 Alaska earthquake was a 9.2; but it was the biggest recorded in Japan since measurements began in the early 20th century.
