Am I an idiot and fool because I hold a different view of the cost/benefit of opposing Putin?

Opposing Putin is all very well, and grandiose, but I think it would be better if we didn't get to having to do that in the current manner.

Putin is there because of things *we* did. Unless and until people wise up, the same things will keep happening.

The powers-that-be are happy to see Ukraine decimated and millions killed, if it gives them $$$ and a place to host their bio labs. Meanwhile their propaganda campaign has people cheering it all on.

I'd rather we hadn't got to this point and I think the people who got us here and who support the people who keep on doing this are to blame and deserve the label idiot.

So no, you're not an idiot and a fool if you simply think opposing Putin and China is a good idea. But I think you are if you support the entire chain of events that make the current form of opposition necessary.

We're only here so slime-ball politicians can enrich themselves, laundering money through one of the most corrupt countries in Europe, and so the military industrial complex can make sales. Who in their right mind would support that? (apart from everyone, apparently)

LOL, as if they care about him "being honest about not having any recording equipment"?

Does he think they'll go "oh wow, we've totally changed our minds then, maybe YOU have the truth oh wise one!"

Nothing he says makes sense other than an attempt to spin and obfuscate reality. The big man talks the talk but was probably in tears and pleading inside. That is way more likely a reason he didn't record it.

That Marko stuff I thought was crazy at the time, but if it was a fake it was a remarkably prescient one in light of later disclosures about his personality. Who knows? Reserve judgement until there’s good evidence.

Yeah, that's why I believe it's likely true, it's Occams razor stuff - the chances of someone inventing something that perfectly fits as an explanation for the person's subsequent actions and own stories is incredibly unlikely.

The infidelities and cheating, the texting, all the same pattern of behaviors.

The claim he himself made that he included details in his book to prevent someone from blackmailing him? I'm sure he only included enough detail that he thought he'd take the sting out of it, but it's the man who doesn't believe that doing something "every couple of months for 4+ years" should class as "regularly"

The smoking gun is always that claim about his JC meeting that "I am not going to record it because I have nothing to hide" which makes absolutely no sense, especially coming from a YouTuber that wants to record everything, including himself outside.

His claims not to have any self-control when it comes to sex is another thing that aligns with and reinforces the story as possibly true. I've seen rapists & kiddie fiddlers making the claim that they couldn't possible control their sexual urges, as though it's any kind of excuse for their behavior. Maybe in someone's very warped mind, but it's not really convincing for normal people with basic levels of morality.

If someone invented a story about you, it would be easy for most people to demonstrate that it's completely out of character and thus without any basis.

When the story fits the character and all subsequent events so well, and would even explain "why" certain events happened (e.g. hurried exit from the UK) then you have to think "hmmn?"

Let Russia have the Russian land with the Russian people on it, the pretend borders created by the west just have to be put back to what they were.

And the agreement NOT to expand NATO's borders eastward, which was made as part of the deal to reunify Germany, should be honoured.

He would have made a model elder. Believe me, there are many elders like Lloyd ... They are dark evil individuals who like to suck the lifeforce out of others.

You hear stories of elders probing for totally unnecessary and intimate details about people's sexual misdemeanours.

Now you can see exactly the type of person who become those types of elders. He'd be getting his jollies by listening to the stories and grilling (sisters especially) on what happened, all for something to play with himself later in his little wanking shed.

A link popped up on my twitter feed today that was the story of a former prostitute who explained how crucial it was to pretend that it was all her choice. Crucial to the punters of course, to absolve themselves of their guilt.

The reality is that the majority of women who are prostitutes are not doing it entirely because of their own free-choice. They are coerced, and so the men using them are RAPISTS.

But here's the thing ...

For an accurate view of what it's like being a JW, do we go ask current JWs or exJWs? Who are you going to get the truth from - someone who knows that have to say "oh, I don't mind not celebrating birthdays or Christmas" or someone who is out and free from it and able to be honest?

So why would anyone believe any current sex-worker's claim that it's all their choice when every ex-prostitute is saying that it never was and warning of the danger and the lies?

Now, how reasonable is it for someone who has made their entire life be about people being JWs or exJWs suddenly not to be able to tell that the claims being made by current sex-workers are utterly worthless, because they don't have the free will they claim.

How reasonable is it for someone to claim to advocate for victims of Child Sexual Abuse within a strict religion that denies people the ability to tell the truth of their experience, to not see the hypocrisy with using young prostitutes in heavily sex-trafficked countries?

So a reminder: I doubt there is anyone who has ever paid for a prostitute that they don't know, who is not a rapist. The more prostitutes they have used, the higher the odds to the point that I doubt there is any chance they are not.

Unfortunately, justice will never happen because they scale of the problem is too large and the people trying to make things right too few.

But it doesn't alter the fact that some people are rapists.

Someone who wants to wake up has already started a process. You have been directed to Lloyd Evans because of his ability to be popular through some mechanisms some of which harmless but some others completely despicable.

This is important.

NO-ONE convinces someone else not to be a JW. No believing JW is even looking at exJW or "apostate" content, so anyone who does is already doubting and looking for answers. JWs aren't JWs because of the logical soundness of the belief system, so trying to reason them away doesn't really work.

All we can do is demonstrate to people who are already having those doubts and searching is that we're not the monsters the WTS has made us out to be. We're not immoral, drug-taking, whore-using, wife-abusing, lowlifes.

And THAT is why Lloyd will forever be a detriment to exJWs, regardless of whatever content he produces. He's simply a caricature of an apostate, perfectly living down to the standards the WTS predicts.

What matters more than anything is to be kind and friendly and to demonstrate that there can be life after the WTS, that you don't have to let it define your entire existence. Leaving the WTS doesn't mean you will turn into some monster and destroy your family. You can be as moral and caring as you were as a JW, even more so as you have time to dedicate to your family and the pressure and time commitments of being a JW removed from your life.

So while people think they care about doctrine when they are leaving, I think that's usually just a "chaser" for confirmation that the WTS is wrong. What convinces them to leave is the injustice and hypocrisy they wake up to and finally notice, and that the WTS lied about the people who leave.

But if you become an immoral, drug-taking, whore-using, wife-abusing lowlife ... you may be what convinces someone who was looking that the WTS might be right after all, regardless of what "amazing content" you produce.

But let's be real. There is no amazing content. Making up lies based on pure speculation is no "expose", it's just made-up crap. Taking clips from talks and making fun of them or ridiculing beliefs is not really difficult, but is also only appealing to those who have already left. It isn't really reaching out to JWs or showing them that we're not their enemy - it's using them as an easy punching-bag because you know no blows will ever come back at you.

when some unsuspecting soul "buys into" Lloyd (believes him) and then, on finding out who he really "is", has to again go through the whole waking up process, as we did when we found out that Watchtower is a complete fraud.

That's why I think some prefer to live in a state of denial and keep supporting him, it's a way of convincing themselves that by supporting him he hasn't done anything wrong and they haven't been conned.

Yes, it sounds silly ... but people are dumb.
