The more research i have done on the subject of the trinity, its really the half assed out of context presentation of the wts that made me stop going to meetings.
They discount what the Book of John says, they discount what Paul says, they fail to make any connection to the old testament.
Its all just circular chicken and egg arguments. Its all just " why would jesus say that if he was god "....because he was human......" how can a human be god". Round and Round.

i think studying what new testament thought about who Jesus was and how it all comes from the old testament is important wether you study the bible from a bibical christinity or secular academic point of view.
It can save a life time of pointless field service and boring assemblies.

Jws are not preachers or christians. They are just telemarketers with a prepackaged sales pitch who dont have an theological understanding of the scriptures.
The evangelical church grows by members just finding 5 to 10 people in your life that aren't christians and just becoming their friends. Volunteer your time , help people out and invite them to your church.
Even in countries where being a christian can be dangerous or isnt encouraged. this approach to evangelism has been incredibly successful in places like China, India, muslim world etc. There are tens of millions of people involved in the house church movement.
I have very little sympathy for the poor brothers rotting in prison because they cant bang on your door saturday morning.
i had no doubts at all about the 'truth' untill a friend of mine in the cong' began falling away.
in trying to help him i had to ask questions and do research and that of course cracked the doors of my mind open for the first time in over thirty years.. years ago, when jwd allowed members to have signatures, i used the following quote from voltaire as mine.

i watched a video series on jesus in the old testament and what new testament writers were referrencing from the old testament.
It was actual quite simple. It was literally like the expression cant see the forest because of all trees.

Before entering into a theological discuss ion about the trinity or diety of christ, you need some kind of reference point.
Again, learn who the new testament writers thought jesus was and how it comes from the old testament. Its the very reason i stopped attending meetings.

in the old testament god is invisible or no one can see the face of god and live. Yet god seems to deal with people in some form of manifestation. Now that being the angel of the lord or word of the lord.
Now looking into the new testament its pretty obvious the writers believed jesus was this old testament manifestation of god.
Now how this becomes the trinity, i dont know but jehovah witnesses have no right to be critical. They dont even understand basic christology.
when i was young everybody used to fantasise constantly about how brave we would all need to be "when the persecution comes".
we worried about what "they" would do to us and how we would never talk or betray other jws.
psychologically it was a damaging environment for children; but maybe that's another topic.. who would have thought that when it finally came it would take the form of being sued for protecting pedophiles.
I have often thought the lack of evangelical work in the islamic world is a real testament they dont even buy there own bullshit.
