Silly siar82. Of course you can do research. You can research lots of things using the fantastic JW Research Guide. See, it's even called Research Guide. Only today I was reminded that the Bible is true because it says so in the Bible. I didn't even have to google anything to find that out. What a time saver. How happified I was.

The "apostacy stigmatisation" of doing research!
by stuckinarut2 ina thought occurred that the way the society has stigmatised the doing of external research by witnesses, and labelling any such questioning as "apostate", is tragic.. no doubt, in every other aspect of life, we research things before making decisions.
eg, if making a purchase, we go online and check reviews etc to check the product out.
we don't just trust the words of the marketing department.

Excellent Conversation At Literature Trolley
by cofty inyesterday my wife and i enjoyed one of our regular days out at edinburgh - movie, lunch, walk, meal etc.. in the late afternoon while mrs cofty went shopping i had an hour at the excellent museum of scotland and arranged to meet up outside the national gallery on princes street.
on my way back i saw the jw trolley was at the usual spot on the royal mile.
there was an older man and a young woman standing well back trying hard to look inconspicuous.

QB, I am happy to respect someone's belief in intelligent design but not ignorant statements about theories coupled with unilateral definitions of creationism.
I would love to see some intelligent and reasoned debate on creation v evolution but we never seem to get beyond the same tired old nonsense being repeated yet again on this thread.
The fact that I, along with 99% of every other person who believes in some form of the biblical account of creation are so unprepared to counter even the most basic of arguments for evolution was a massive red flag once I started to actually read up on the subject.

Ideas for letter to Dr about blood card blackmail and what it means?
by purrpurr infollowing on from another op who brought to our attention the new draconian blood card policy .i'm planning on visiting my dr to discuss this issue in advance.
i'm planning on telling her how jw's and possibly me will be blackmailed into signing this but really won't want the hlc involved and may want blood if needed.. i'm thinking about writing a letter that could be kept on file for future reference outling these issues, what do you think i should say in it?

My plan with this is to do absolutely nothing. The elders will not chase anything up. If an elder approaches you just say you'll get round to it and do nothing more.
Next week they will have some other silly little procedural nothingness to concentrate on.

The JW FUNERAL experience

i attended his funeral this morning.. on thursday evening, i went to the body "viewing" and it was "family only.
" i am part of the family (through marriage) so, i was there.. i was welcomed with joy and enthusiasm like a long lost (prodigal) sheep.

Commercial activism.

some people liked it and asked him if they could purchase one.. in his last vlog (#111) he is advertising it and mentioned the link www.apostee.com, based in the us.
comments attached to vlog # 110 mentioned the fact that this company will close in april and that the business will be continued by cedars itself, who has also a stock of anti-witness items.. besides that, he was not the owner of jwsurvey.org, but since january 16, 2016 he is.. it looks (as mentioned before by simon in an earlier thread), this guy is making a living from his activism, a paid career.. one should seriously question his true motives, demonstrated in his activism.

I really couldn't care less. He's doing his thing and good luck to him. If you don't like his content, don't look at it. If you don't want to buy merchandise then don't. If you want to call him out on something then there are direct routes like his website or social media feeds to do so.
I am sad that his personality seems to overshadow the relevance of much of his content with many but I am sure we would all be better off just letting all of these various "out there" activists just get on with it. Most of them, with the exception of aposta-chick and the wonderful katie-kitten are pretty marmite anyway - you either love 'em or hate 'em. If you're going to bitch why not just bitch at the JW organisation?
