the governing body/watchtower unduly influences millions into extreme beliefs and behaviors.

and i suspect folks like anthony morris thinks his flock is not obedient or strict enough and there are many rules and teachings the governing body would love to enact but do not have the votes, or even they have the sense enough to know it would go too far.

however, i can’t help how by the time their edicts filter down to the rank and file jw, it causes unintended consequences.

The Grandfather paradox involves a time traveler going back into the past and killing his grandfather before he meets his grandmother. This then creates the situation in which the time travel is never actually born and therefore could not travel in time to kill his grandfather.

Effectively this is what the current governing body of Jehovah's Witnesses have actually done. Using historical revisionism as the time machine they have traveled back in time and deleted the existence of the faithful and discreet slave class. This has then created a situation in which the faithful and discreet slave class never existed and therefore could never have appointed a representative governing body.

hehi was at a function this evening and was chatting to the assistant of the ceo of the biggest charity for child safety in the uk.

i spoke about safeguarding and the huge investigation currently going on.

the gentleman is a member of some heavy weight committees on child safety.

You could always keep it simple and ask them to make a submission to the Charity Commission re: Watchtower.

4 Generations of the Royal Family

excuse me, i'm one of jw's, i only see one overlap generation of the royal family.

You misunderstand the doctrine of the overlapping generation.

King George V was born in 1865 and died in 1936.

Queen Elizabeth II was born in 1926 and overlapped King George V by 10 years.

Prince Charles was born in 1948 and has overlapped Queen Elizabeth by 67 years.

Prince William was born in 1982 and has overlapped both Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles by 33 years.

Prince George of Cambridge (becomes King George VI upon his coronation) was born in 2013 and has overlapped Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, and Prince William by 2 years and 9 months.

For both King George V and Prince George (future King George VI) to be of the same generation they must both have overlapped the life of at least one person in common. This is Queen Elizabeth.

Therefore they are all one generation. 1865 to Present. One generation.

Now if Prince George, on becoming King George VI can live at least as long as his great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, the overlapping generation could extend from 1865 to 2103.

It's simple overlapping math: 1+1+1+1+1 = 1

Of course by 2103 Prince George (as King George VI) might have children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. However these four generations are only part of the one true overlapping generation of the "last days of this system of things" that started overlapping in 1865 with the birth of King George V.

This week's resurrection video, will it backfire on the wt?

--well, this week's showing at the hall was the opposite, it was about death with violins playing in the background.

Like it or not this video may be more important to the GB than we might first realize. Consider the facts. Every single JW is going to have to face, whether they like it or not, the stark reality that every single person alive in their family or in their congregation or in the community is going to eventually die. The GB know this and also know that they too will be replaced with yet another overlap of the overlapping.

Death is inevitable. This video is no more "food at the proper time" than is the existence of a funeral home proof of a future resurrection.

Consider the following phrase used by the GB in recent times: "faith in the resurrection hope."

A future resurrection is a hope that JWs have. The GB are encouraging JWs to have faith in their own individual hope of a resurrection.

Why is it ok for witnesses to go to Church backed hospitals?

if witnesses should "get out of babylon the great" then why is it ok to go into hospitals that have been set up, and have funding from churches?.

Imagine the situation in which JW parents -under the advise of their local body of elders and only after the elders had contacted the Service Department at Watchtower headquarters for instruction- were told NOT to take their sick and dying child to the only hospital in the area because it was church-backed.
