I also kept thinking about how they repress everything natural and normal. They say you must be different. No wonder there is so much fustration and depression amongst this lot. You can only be repressed for so long before you snap in some way.

Good thread BB. I noticed similiar things. The top line of pictures depict a normal, balanced well adjusted young mans life, the bottom a cultish, isolationist, boring wierd one. They take harmless, healthy things and make them dirty and wrong.
The article employed sweeping generalizations, as well as black and white thinking. Either you listen to "Satans" voice, which is your own heart or anyone else, or you can listen to "Je-hoovers" voice which only comes from the FDS, their interpretation of the Bible, elders, or other "spiritually strong" "true christians" Anything else is a prideful, "no one can tell me what to do" attitude.
They also made sure they had to get in a Korah and Abiram rebelling against Moses and Aaron reference, a favorite tool of cults. They miss the irony that Aaron made the golden calf and those that followed his lead were executed.

Any explanation from the WT as to why Adam and Eve did not have sex before they sinned? (and other Genesis stumpers)

I find the tribal people of the world debunk the whole "shame is inherent" thing. Shame about ones body is LEARNED. The only reason a child may be bashful about their nakedness is because he sees everyone else covering up, so naturally he would feel out of place. Certain body parts in our society are viewed to be "shameful". In tropical/subtropical climates around the entire world whether it be South America, Africa, Asia, North America, Australia, everywhere it was possible to be naked, people were or nearly so. NO culture in these areas had a taboo on womens breasts, some wore loincloths, many did not. They had to be taught by the christiain and muslim missionaries and explorers that they were sinning by being naked. Even many of the tribes in warm climates today that wear clothes do so because they were taught that it was wrong not to. They have 0 shame. This to me proves the whole, "nudity is sinful" because of the "original sin" is bogus. It is cultural/religous standards and nothing more.

This weeks #2 & #3 talk on homosexuality
by granada35 inafter a one year sucessful fade and no longer associated with any congreation, i was visiting my sister this week (who goes to the meeting to please her husband for now; i am slowly planting seeds though) and they decided to year this weeks midweek meeting via the telephone.
since i was a guest in her house, i sat with them in the living room to hear the meeting.
to my surprise (especially growing up as a gay jw with still alot of anger in my heart over how i was treated), the talks 2 and 3 where on, of course, homosexualiy.

An elder was assigned the talk in "my" KH. He stuck pretty close to the source material, but went on about how bad gay marriage is. To be honest I tuned it out.
As long as people are not hurting others, or PUSHING their beliefs and lifestyle on others I dont see what the harm could be. So much damage is done by trying to supress peoples true sexuality. I believe sexuality is a sliding scale and in many cases not as simple as gay or straight. Many people have had desire for both sexes at some point, but most feel forced to choose a side at some point. Our society is obsessed with labels.
When the WT delivers its ignorant advice that you can "cure" homosexuality by marrying a woman, the result is a miserable marriage. Can you imagine being a gay man married to someone he has little to no attraction to? Can you imagine being a woman stuck in a marriage to a gay man with no way out? If they let people be themselves this would not happen as it so often has.
The WT is behind the times, but we do well to remember that as recently as the 50s and 60s, homosexuality was listed as a mental disorder or disease much like pedophelia is today. The difference is that pedophiles harm others, even when they do not intend to. Homosexuals do not.
I find it fascinating that explorers and scientists for years supressed evidence of homesexuality in the animal kingdom since this undermined their argument that it is unnatural and ungodly. They couldnt have people knowing that the majority of mammal species have a percent of males that exclusively pair off and ha ve sex with each others. In some species such as penguins, they even pai off for life, using a stone in place of an egg.
