  Persecution Fever

  do any of you recall the persecution paranoia, that swept across the congregations in the late 80s?.

  the great tribulation was believd imminent, and bro's were getting excited and encouraging everyone to be ready.. the book study was highlighted as a meeting that must be never missed!

  because if a sudden ban came upon the kingdom hall meetings, then only those who knew where the current book study was held, would get spiritual food and help.. the next thing was "hide your watchtower literature" in places where the authorities would not find it.. jws, including myself, consequently hid literature in the walls of our homes.

  The book study was highlighted as a meeting that MUST be never missed! because if a sudden ban came upon the Kingdom Hall meetings, then only those who knew where the current book study was held, would get spiritual food and help.
  The next thing was "hide your Watchtower literature" in places where the authorities would not find it.
  JWs, including myself, consequently hid literature in the WALLS of our homes. I remember taking out an air ventalator and shoving some books behind it, ready for the big day when the government would come around to our homes and ransack them in search of Watchtower publications.

  I wonder if such things still go on?

  why am i frequently staring into space?.

  no i don't smoke pot at work.. i hear but i do not listen.

  i look but i do not see.. i laugh but i am only pretending.. i play the game but i am not really taking part.. my job sucks.. please help.

  Part 5. The Street Party.

  sadly, their own demise as family members was now only weeks away, and those other young sisters next door on the other side were looking a bit restless too............ .

  within the next few weeks, becky was noticeable by her absence.

  our house no linger shook to her madonna singles and the whole family at dub-house 1 seemed to become subdued.

  You have just triggered another memory.

  you said "and that the police were looking for her."
  This is correct!

  Jackie's parents placed restrictions on her after the pub episode.She was forbidden to see her new friend.

  One day she decided to run off

  Jackie's parents were so desperate at their daughter not coming home that day, they called the police! When they could not locate her amongst her JW friends, they feared the worst and told the police as much. The police then raised "Helicopters" to search for her. This is how it all came to be in the Shropshire star newspaper.

  Sorry I don't recognise the youngsters in the photo. I guess they were in Aquaduct congregation, so we would not know of them much.

  Ok Englishman

  Here is what happened to the girl next door.

  As I said in my earlier post, these two sisters used to play with my two children.
  They were both good looking but Jackie grew up to be most attractive.
  She arranged to meet another JW sister at a pub, but this sister did not turn up. Jackie was left all alone. But not for long, innevitably some guy came to her, and made himself a friend.They started to go out together.
  Her mom and dad, obviously did not approve of this and without doubt applyied a lot of pressure upon her.Jackie eventually left home, went to live with this guy
  Soon she was dissfellowshiped.
  And eventually had two children.
  On one occasion I spoke to Ken, Jackie's dad at the kingdom hall, asking how Jackie was doing. He looked suprised, as if this was not something brothers should ask about the dissfellowshiped.
  He nodded his head and just said OK. I guess he did not really know the answer to my question. They had cut her off from association.
  I would often see Jackie's mom on the ministry, she spent most of her time doing it, she would plod along mostly with her head looking towards the ground. She was not happy, how could she be? she had cut off her natural tender affection from her child.
  I believe Jackie eventually moved to wales.
  Her sister faye took after her mom and Pioneered most of her young life away.The last I heard she also got married to an elder's son.
  they went to live, by Ironbridge( the first bridge made of Iron in the world).
