  i`ve spent the morning and part of my afternoon... getting to the bottom of... why names were added to the awaa fan page... it`s a dangerous thing to happen in our world... faders can be outed,we can lose,family,friends... the results can be an absolute disaster... .

  Thats not what rebel, Dagney and others have said. Where is your evidence they are wrong?

  Where is their evidence that says they are right? See how it works? Burden of proof.

  I can take them at their word. I have no problem with that but then it makes AAWA untruthful.

  I am going off the facts that I can discern through my experience dealing with the AAWA Facebook dilema.

  I am curious how other and their personal "outing" story fits into the facts.

  Unless they come forward with their story and personal timeline of events by examining their own activity log on Facebook, we cant put the pieces together and it remains assumption and speculation.

  I'm pleased for you but that's just YOUR experience. The group was made open (previous statements), membership has not been controlled and they are still promoting people to join which ultimately means identities could already be and continue to be revealed.

  You are right that is my experience and it may vary from what others have claimed. However, I do not agree with JVs statement that the Group was made open. I only have to review my activity log and observe my FB account from another source to see that the Official AAWA Group was always Secret.

  Also, AAWA's statement says membership is being controlled by internal protocols.

  Perhaps it is just spin, bullsh*t, and boloney as well.

  This is exactly the issue ... there are already identities in the 1300 people who were joined who are either completely unknown or known apologists and there doesn't appear to be any barrier to membership. Having a secret group and then announcing it to the world seems to defeat the purpose and IMO facebook is NOT SUITABLE for this kind of thing for people who could suffer severe negative consequences if their identities were revealed to family or the WTS.

  I agree with that Simon. It would stand to reason that of those 1300 some are even unaware that they have been added. But wasn't this address by AAWA by making a statement on their page and mass PMing those 1300 members? I suppose time will tell if some come forward with problems.

  So what is the solution? The group wont go away. Should all members be deleted and then they can request to be added on their own? Perhaps the damage if there is any or will be any has already been done.

  Again it becomes He said She said wrought with speculation, assumption, and hearsay. It may be baloney! But what we have on one side of this tug of war created here is AAWA producing public statements in an effort to give a full picture of the events as they unfolded. Then what happens?

  The statements are attacked as "spin", "Bullsh*t", Etc.

  Very interesting to watch this unfold and see the passions of many of the posters here and what they are attacking.

  Im not denying people have been outed. I even stated that active JW's saw in my newsfeed I had been joined to a Facebook Group bearing AAWA graphics Etc. For all intent and purpose I was outed and had to respond when questioned. However, that was not the Official AAWA Secret Group that caused me the hassle.

  Blace blame where it is warranted.

  AAWA's statement says not one person so far has come forward with a complaint of being outed.

  Of course I'm sure those of you who are horny for Cedars or the AAWA group will make it a case of he said she said.

  That's why I opened up the question here. Where are those that were outed? Lets see how their story fits into the facts.

  I think it's extremely important that people have the ability to join a group, but no group should automatically join people.

  I fully agree with this and believe Facebook should eliminate the option to do so.

  If you choose to disclose who you are by giving folks your Facebook contact information, any loss of privacy is your own fault.

  I agree completely.

  JV was/is correct. The Facebook AAWA Page is open. That is where anyone can join in the conversation by simply "liking" the page, an action they assume full responsibility for. The Facebook AAWA Group has always been secret. I can prove this by my news feed, timeline and activity log and it is verified by logging into other accounts and viewing my Facebook page.

  1. Barbara did not resign from AAWA, only as VP.

  2. I was added to a "fans" facebook group that was mimicking the Official AAWA group. That "fan's" page at the time had AAWA logos all over it and appeared all over my news feed. Several of my Facebook friends made comments to this fact (some of them current and active JWs). Upon realizing the group was not the Official Secret AAWA group I removed myself. Shortly after that "fan's" group page changed it's name and graphics.

  It is clear to me where the damage was generated and where mistaken blame continuosly regirgitated on this forum is being placed.
