i don't want to seem like a jerk.
i know full well economic times are not the greatest.
there's no shame in struggling and staying with your family until you're back on your feet.
I was the only one in my family that left at 18. My four sisters all remained at home until till they were all in their mid-20s before getting married and moving out.
I know many witnesses that are still leaving with parents who are well past 30.

as i was sitting in the meeting last night i thought about this question.. sometimes it feels really lonely because i don't connect with most others in the congregation and i have to be so careful with the ones with whom i do associate.. quick rundown on my life...got baptized at 17...married at 20...became inactive at 28 wife still active though...came back to meetings with her 20 years later just to keep her quiet and see if they had changed (for a while i actually thought they had)...now i am still inactive and haven't gone out in service or anything.
i just go to meetings with my wife who is happy as a lark to have me there with her...just go to meetings and think...and think...and think.... anyway, i just wondered if there are any out there like me who are going to meetings and nothing else?.
I go with the wife when the watchtower study is over the top with ridiculous crap. Then I giggle like a little school girl at every comment someone makes or when the term "food for thought" or the word "poignant" is used.
many here have asked how the average witness in australia is taking the news of the arc findings and conclusions.. is it affecting them?.
sorry to say, hardly any are even aware of the facts.
those that are, have been convinced that all the publicity is "apostate lies and satanic propaganda".
What is odd to me is the absolute silence of the organization on this topic. My pioneer sister asked me if I knew anything about it a few weeks back. She was out in service and one of her calls asked what was happening in Australia with the royal commission. She had zero knowledge of it. I would think they would be trying to get their version to the r&f to prevent situations like my sister had at the door.
My father in law (he's an elder) also had no knowledge of all this.
I found it amusing that my sis would come to me to inquire about the happenings of her religion.
there are many on this site that do not believe that jehovah truly exists; that he is not a real being.
but, he is as real as next breath you draw into your nostrils.. some of you say that there is no evidence that he exists.
yet, none of you can prove that he does not exits.. cofty, (you come to mind), i appreciate that you have stated, without reservation, that you do not believe that god exists.. yet, you cannot prove it.. hope in jehovah..

I remember my mother crying uncontrollably after President Clinton said Peace and Security. The end was coming any second and she had convinced herself she wouldnt make it because we didn't go out in service enough. I was only 6 or 7 but I remember thinking how strange it was for something some guy said on TV to make my mommy break down.
It's really heartbreaking to remember.

I was raised a witness, never dunked, have new jw bride ( why u ask? um... i do love her, just not the dub side, which is raising its little head more and more now) and a little 5 month old that I would like to have other options in life than a full time pioneer married to a 23 year old MS who works for his daddy's janitor business. I know there isnt anything wrong with being a janitor, bla bla, but you all know what i mean hopefully.

Anyway, anyone have any good sites that just explore JW's beliefs and doctrines without bias? I'm looking for something like jwfacts without the negative spin. She would shut it down after reading the first sentence or two. She's a devout dub and i'm trying to work with her - but she isn't going to read anything on sites she will consider apostate. Maybe something like Wikipedia but dedicated to jw beliefs?
I love this site but the anti-jw view is a bit much and i know she wouldn't read anything here.
I'm also aware that there is probably nothing that will sway her - but i would at least like to have some available should that time arise. I asked her to explain the generation crap last night and all i could get was that it makes more sense now than before... but she couldn't explain it of course. Haven't met anyone that could.
