Any you'll be screaming that for eternity if you die in your sins. God bled for us and actually became sin for us so that you would not have to rage for eternity ....but have peace.

If he's real, and he's worthy of our worship, then he'll say, "Good job making the most of the gift of life I gave you. You were a good person, improved to your community, and enjoyed my gift. You figured out that's what life's all about, and you did it."
So according to your thinking, God only owes you an "atta boy" for the good you have done? Courts are not there to pat people on the back. If that is all God ever did, then God would be evil for doing nothing about the problem of evil. Instead of preventing it by makng it impossible like some SAY they would like, he has chosen to judge sin judicially and lawfully.
There is no contridiction here except in the case if God doesn't judge sin....especially since we can be sure that his other option was not exercised ie., making sin and evil an impossibility.
Each person should carefully ask himself if he or she has ever lied, stolen, hated on someone, lusted etc....since these are God's laws. And if we are judged by them; are we going to be guilty or innocent?

Judgment is inevitible. God MUST do it. Judgment is God's answer to the problem of evil that philosophers sometimes argue about. God could either prevent evil, or he could judge it. Clearly, HE HAS CHOSEN TO JUDGE IT.
If he chose to do NOTHING about it, then he himself would be the default cause of evil, which is impossible since he is good. So he must judge all. It is not a task he looks forward to I assure you. He offered his own Son as a scapegoat for those that would take the offer. It was a rancid enough death to atone for the vilest among us. He desires NONE to sit before him and receive the penalty of sin. His main enemy is the devil, not us.
When he has intervened in this world and executed judgments, it is not murder or genocide since sin requires a death penalty. Atempting to judge God does not make the reality of judgment after a person dies any less real.
The man in the video is deluding himself with his own perceived goodness. Has he ever lied? What does that make him? Has he ever stolen anything? What do you call someone who has done that? Jesus said just looking at a woman with lust is committing adultery in the heart. In Jesus' economy he equates hate with murder. Ever done that?
Judges do not sit and judge all the lawful and good things a person has done. Courts don't work that way. Yet, most people who don't accept Jesus offer think that it will work that way, even though our own courts dont work that way at all.

If someone refers to the "greek scriptures" is that a sign of JW indoctrination?
by scotoma ini recently had a casual conversation at a bar on the subject of atheism.
they used the expression "greek scriptures".
i didn't pursue it but it made me wonder..

Yes it is definitely a sign. I believe the Watchtower exists for the purpose of preventing people from accepting the New Covenant and avoiding condemnation. (The terms testament and covenant are interchangeable in the bible....same greek word)
What better way to prevent this than by doing away with its name? The enemy would have people believe that the New Covenant (a literal contract with God) was only for 144,00 people who lived long ago.... not for YOU. They say it was for rulership positions in the coming Kingdom. That's a lie from Hell.
Jesus made this clear in Matt 26: 27 - And taking a cup, he offered thanks and gave it to them, saying: “Drink out of it, all of you, 28 for this means my blood of the covenant, which is to be poured out in behalf of many for forgiveness of sins". - NWT (.....not simply rulership positions or earth / heaven destinations)
The terms old testament and new testament are appropriate because the root meaning of testament is covenant or contract. Both of the bibles' contracts with God that are described within it, allowed a person to avoid condemnation for their personal sins through the legal maneuver known as imputation. The death penalty was imputed onto someone or something else and the sinlessness of the scapegoat was imputed onto the sinner. Both biblical contracts work the same basic way; hence the WT would like to hide this fact about the primary purpose of the bible.
It has little to do with who gets to run the show after Jesus returns. It is of minor relative importance who makes it as the bride of Christ or the bride of Jehovah, or those that are "left over" in the earth after Armageddon.
What is of major friggin importance is whether or not a person will stand trial for their own sins or not. Many on that day will object and accuse Jesus of not holding up his end of the bargain. He will chillingly tell them "I never knew you"..... or, more literally; "I never had a contract with you to be your scapegoat.".

This pargraphs' style and syntax is so similar to the WT, that IMO could have easily been written in a a watchtower about any WT president: :
"After Kim Il-sung visited a fishery in 1976, KCNA published this: "Watching a truck at work, the president said that its bucket seemed to be small in comparison with its horsepower. He said the problem of carriage would be solved if the bucket was enlarged. Afterwards the truck's bucket capacity increased to two tons from 800 kg. As a result, 20 trucks were capable of carrying the load to be done by 50 trucks."
High Leader is so strong, so smart, such a problem-solver. What would we do without High-Leader????
Idolotry is pretty much the same everywhere.

Idol Worship
by cultBgone inwe couldn't celebrate birthdays because that was self-idolatry.
young boys couldn't have posters of sports stars because that was idolatry.
young girls couldn't have posters of their favorite rock band, same reason.. however, as "pioneers" we were told to memorize the names of the governing body members and the names of the wts presidents.

The organization and all its various levels of "privleges" with its associated status is just one big idol comprised of lots of little ones. Elders have been setting up "idols of the heart" for a long time. Once anything dominates a person as their 'cause, 'ought' or chief motivator - it is an abomination to God.
Then came certain of the elders of Israel unto me, and sat before me. And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, .......should I be inquired of at all by them? Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart ..... I the LORD will answer him...according to the multitude of his idols; That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.
Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations. For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel, which separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to a prophet to inquire of him concerning me; I the LORD will answer him by myself: And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I am the LORD. - Ez. 14

Theists, why does God allow suffering..
by The Quiet One in..specifically, the suffering of animals.
you can talk about free will/sin/people choosing to not listen to god etc to explain human suffering being allowed.. but how can you love a god that allows animals, that haven't sinned or chosen to not have anything to do with god, to have their short lives ended in often long, drawn out, painful ways.
i could list stories i've read that would probably make you feel ill, but i'm not looking to shock anyone or start an emotional debate.

Because the universe as it is, not as we would imagine it, allows for its possibility. When Adam fell, and became God's enemy ....everything in Adam, and under his dominion became disconnected one way or another - from the Source of Life.
