Whenever I hear someone using liar in such a bold way, I instantly get suspicious. As has been said, he could have either laughed it off, or just ignore it and report the comment, instead he did what Lloyd always does and gets someone else to report the troll.
You see, there's a reason why he does this, he can then turn around and use these flying monkeys to do his own dirty work for him and effectively absolve him of all responsibility. Basically they are being used as human shields.

Seriously, I wouldn't let it get to you. I thought he was in the process of taking you all to court. surely if this was the case, his lawyers would tell him to stay silent about the whole litigation so it does not interfere with the legal proceedings? I am no lawyer, but surely constantly mentioning the accused in a live legal case will be used when presenting evidence?

Because he got exactly what he hoped for, sympathy, and that sympathy will generate donations. Sometimes we need to get into the mind of people like Lloyd, it is uncomfortable, but in the long run, it will benefit us all.
