I remember decades ago I went to a pioneer school. I travelled in with a brother (He was at the same pioneer school and I was staying with him and his little family). We travelled several miles alone in the car (neither of us had a problem with that, nor did his wife) and all the way there and back we listened to Yes and Mike Oldfield. I was invited to a sister's home for tea one evening, her son was a Bethelite, he'd left his music collection behind as it wasn't allowed in Bethel. He had Black Sabbath, Led Zep, Deep Purple etc... My own record collection was filled with rock albums... today I enjoy gospel rock too.

Watcher.... read this book:- it doesn't take long, I read it in 3 days. Do you ever wonder what the GB do? What they say? What happens behind closed doors in the Brooklyn Bethel. You seem to me to be a JW who is curious about things. I was curious, I came across this book and read it out of curiosity. It's a fascinating read.... I didn't see things the same way once I'd read it....

"we don't emphasize Jesus because he is only one part".......
WOW!! That says it ALL! Isa 9:6 calls him Mighty God... he was given a name above every name and even the angels worship him (Heb 1:6, in the Kingdom Interlinear or footnote of large print bible and all other translations)
The whole of the NT is about Jesus Christ.. our Saviour, our Redeemer, our Lord, our King.... The SON OF GOD!! And you say he is 'ONLY A PART'!!!

My vow was to God and not an organisation. My vow to God still stands.
True christians throughout the centuries and even now are scattered throughout many different denominations. Just as Jesus said... the wheat would grow amongst the weeds.
As for an 'organisation'... where was it before Israel? Where was it after the apostles? That wonderful organisation that Jehovah despaired of for centuries... that Jesus condemned...
Yes, I allowed men to come between me and God... I allowed a man made organisation to come between me and God. Now the only one that comes between me and God is Jesus Christ.
"Do not put your trust in nobles, nor the son of earthling man to whom no salvation belongs" Psalm 146:3
Jesus Christ alone is the Way the Truth and the Life.........
Watcher.. why are you allowing men to come between you and God? Why are you putting your trust in men for your salvation? Why are you in an organisation that considers itself 'the Truth' when Jesus Christ said HE was the Truth?
Is Jesus your mediator? Is he your salvation? Have you looked at the study WT we are doing this month? The last study article has a picture of 'God's organisation'... Heavenly and earthly... tell me .... where is Jesus Christ in that picture? (April 15 page 29)

Last year I went on holiday to an area where I couldn't get internet, tv was in another language so I just read books and enjoyed the nature. I was amazed by how totally freeing it was. When I came back home I couldn't believe the stuff that had occurred in our country/worldwide that I had no idea about while I was away and I realised that it didn't really matter!
If one day it happens that things get bad, so be it but why worry about things that haven't happened yet. We can't change them anyway. Perhaps we can do what we can in our own small way, maybe give something to charity but on a big scale we can't, so why fret?

Welcome James, there's a number of us who are still 'in', it's a difficult place to be when you start to discover things. We have to be 'cautious as serpents and innocent as doves'. Take in as much as you can, go slowly and be careful what you say and who you say it to.
Wish you well.

This is a biggie for me... I can't accept that this group of men has inserted itself between Christ and us. How dare they? Jesus said we should call no one our leader except him. He is the ONLY ONE who should be between us and God.
I was watching a documentary about William Tyndale recently and his bug bear was exactly the same. He refused to accept the Catholic Church/Pope as mediator and only accepted Christ as personal mediator/saviour.

I'm so glad the anointed were 'demoted'.
by a watcher innow they can mingle inconspicuously with the 'other sheep' without being 'made an example of' (for better or worse)..

So now the GB become the FDS and become the leaders of the whole thing. They can tell everyone what to do/what not to do, including the anointed.
Yet Jesus said in Matt 23:10 "Neither be called 'leaders', for your Leader is one, the Christ."

Welcome Ed. JWfacts is a great place to get any info
Try this:-

Also about birthdays. JWs will only mention two, Pharoah and Herod both had someone's head chopped off. They do not mention the children of Job who celebrated their 'own' day. Whether it was a birthday or not, it was a 'special' day for each child. Job 1:4 If Job's children could celebrate their own special day why not us today?
