they way im seeing it is that jw seem to teach only honesty which i dont see as being a bad thing at all so why are some of you on here using **** this and **** that or im going to do some fornication now blah blah blah , i dont mean to be offensive at ALL but some of you say you are christian???? or is it that you have been repressed for to long ? help me as i feel stuck in the middle , dont know what to do

ive been looking for her for ages , when we were at school she was a jw and so nice , then when i was about 26 i bumped into her again and i didnt like what i saw , i asked her what happened and she said she had found drugs , that was the last time i saw her (i was very dissappointed),anyway she then dissappeared again so i assumed she had gone back to being a jw , but ive found her this morning(im 38 now) , ive spoken to her and she says that she still believes but doesnt go to meetings etc but that her parents are still in although her parents still have just as much contact with her, i brought up this disassociating thing with her and she said her parents wouldnt do that as they love her to much .

i also spoke to her about this site and others , she says she never really thought about sites like this one , i got the feeling she doesnt want to know or is to scared to find out more although she says the only reason that she left the "truth" was because she hit puberty , all in all she only had good things to say to me about the org and that she had some really great times but that she believes you dont have to be in to be saved , im glad ive found her as we have traded numbers and will keep in touch , im not a jw but was just reading their books (not actually having a formal bible study) and it will be great to talk to someone who has seen both sides , its more personal as ive never been good a letters

W-e-l-l, I wouldn't normally comment on what is a domestic issue and being one of the downunder mob I'm not in a position, nor is it 'polite' for me to comment, but there is a line where I am involved, (I guess I'm included in "the rest of the world") so I can!

I would challenge that statement i.e. that freedom in the U.S. is "the envy of everyone in the world"; in fact, I'd go further and say that apart from being a generalisation, it's also 'wide of the mark'. Certainly downunder I doubt that most of us view the USA as being much to envy, why, we are the "lucky country"!! Certainly amongst the people from many other cultures that i regularly deal with, the USA is not viewed as being envied; for many of them, quite the opposite.

I'm not meaning to be on one of those "knock the USA" themes that we've had on JWD but simply want to point out that we all need to look at ourselves realistically and humbly and see wherein we can improve - not least at a national level.

Does everyone keep to themselves on the Chatham Islands?

Population
The Islands have a population of 753 (1991 Census: Population usually resident in Chatham Islands County)
The population is relatively young in comparison with New Zealand centres. Over 300 people live in and around the main centre, Waitangi. Centres with populations of over 70 include Kaingaroa, Owenga and Te One. Approximately 50 people live on Pitt Island.

i don't think even a dub would stoop to saying that talents are from satan

and that these god-given talents can be used in "the new system™" - how often I've heard the expression "there'll be plenty of time in the new system for (this or that)"

Frankly, I could never see life in their "new system™" being as great as they imagined - too much work from what I could see! I imagined a society of drones doing the bidding of an "Organisation™" much like in many a totalitarian society.

to permit the end of the awake magazine?.

it is a financially difficult thing for a religion the size of the "truth" to publish one - much less two .

There is a KM printed for each branch. Although the WT is identical around the world, it is printed at various branch offices. It would not be difficult to add a few pages of branch specific KM articles and announcements on a monthly basis

Yes.....and No!

As I've already mentioned in a previous post on this thread, the magazines are not identical worldwide. Sure, they may look the same (cover, etc) but it works like this: The back page and one or two inside pages are left blank when they arrive at the printeries. (Incidentally, it is not true that each country prints its own magazines. There are specially designated printeries around the world and they print magazines for their stipulated countries. For example, Japan may print for Australia, etc) The local branches insert their own pages to give local flavor.

On this basis it shouldn't be too difficult to insert the KM material into the Publisher edition of the WT.

BTW Time magazines does something similar with its various editions worldwide.
