The Flood did happen...it just didn't happen as the author of Genesis wrote it. Much of Genesis was plagiarized from the Sumerian tales of Gilgamesh. Not just a flood, but also a snake that at a magic fruit from a tree before Gilgamesh could get to it.

Response to "The Flood is Real, Because ..."
by Simon ini remember one of the flowchart responses to people questioning the biblical flood was something along the lines that "every culture has a flood story".. of course, nearly everywhere has flooded at one time or another and we know there are minor floods and then there are the 1-in-1000 year kind of weather event, that tend to get a mention (anyone from the uk will still talk about the summer of '76, and that's probably nothing in comparison to a decent flood).. but the inference is that the flood must be real, because every culture has a flood story.. the best response is "now do dragons".. because apparently, nearly every culture also has a dragon legend.. does it mean dragons exist?
some desperate jw may show their ignorance by suggesting that man lived at the same time as dinosaurs and they are what the stories were based on.
fun fact: stegosaurus was a fossil when t-rex was alive for longer than it's been since t-rex has been a fossil to us - we're talking old, and no overlap (ignore the map in the cover of the old green bible).. do jws still even bother trying to defend the cray-cray aesop-fable kind of ot beliefs?.

Even so, inactive ones are still our brothers and sisters, and we love them.

Millerites were shown in the end of the HBO tv series "The Leftovers". At the end of the final season it showed the Great Disappointment. I think the seen has much more impact on someone who knows what the details were and not just seeing it as some run-of-the-mill cult.

No beards...even Jesus! Strange Watchower rule for brothers!
by Witness 007 inwatchtower 1954 p.511 "why do watchtower publications now show jesus with short hair and no beard?
because he is shown that way in older representations of him that are older then the traditional effeminate looking pictures.".
watchtower 1968 p.286 "bible evidence and a recent review shows that jesus did have a beard..." charles russell style of beard was popular at bethel...till rutherford took over.

I have seen on this site in the past that Witnesses had their dress and grooming standards set by the same standards door-to-door salesmen adopted - business attire and clean shaven. Why? Because the Watchtower's business model was that of door-to-door sales.
It made sense to me. It helped me answer this question - Why are Jehovah's Witnesses the only religion that refer to their own members as "publishers"? "Publishers of God's word" is still a common phrase used by JWs to refer to themselves.
pub·lish·er
/ˈpəbliSHər/
noun
a person or company that prepares and issues books, journals, music, or other works for sale.
I still remember selling Watchtowers and Awakes for $0.50.

Disfellowshipping
by jhine inso last night my bible study group was discussing the healing of the blind man in john's gospel.
ch 9 .
the man's parents were reluctant to say much on the subject.

A quick quiz for JWs -
- Name one person in the New Testament that was disfellowshipped and reinstated.
- Show where in the entire Bible the words "disfellowshipped" or "reinstated" are found.

Pronouncing YWH as "Jehovah" would be like an American named George going to Mexico and all the locals demanding he be called "Gorge". His name is George and I am pretty sure he'd appreciate it if you called him that. -

the cheap trick for believers...
by inbetween inyesterdays wt study (wt january 2022) stressed the issue, to set aside time to deepen the relationship to god.. in order to strengthen one`s faith, it was encouraged to ask god anytime for basically anything.
and each time god answers your prayers the faith grows.. now, each one of us has wishes, desires, hopes.
some naturally will fail, some will come true.

That's a classic video, PunkofNice!
Don't forget -
- God already knows our past, present, and future.
- God already knows what we need and what's best for us.
Person gets cancer - pray for them.
Person's cancer is cured - "Praise God! God is great!"
Person dies from cancer - "Well, it was God's will."
Well, if it was God's will the person die from cancer why did you pray against God's will? If it was already God's will for the person to survive cancer what good did it do to pray?
Conclusion - prayer is useless to ask God for anything. He's already made up his mind. If you can change God's mind then God has been corrected by his imperfect creation.

"Cursed, cursed, cursed - cursed by God YHW.
You shall die cursed.
You shall surely die cursed.
Cursed by God YHW - cursed, cursed, cursed."Wow! Sounds like a great, kind, and loving god.

Experiment #1:
Every day for 30 consecutive days offer 3 different prayers -
Prayer 1 - Ask Jehovah for X
Prayer 2 - Ask Thor for Y
Prayer 3 - Ask Zeus for Z
At the end of 30 days tally which god granted the most prayers.
If Jehovah grants 0 prayers and the gods grant any prayers a JW might say that it was Satan who was granting those prayers and that Jehovah didn't grant any of prayers because you were praying to false gods. However, how would Satan be able to grant any prayer in less he too is a listener prayers - omniscient?
Experiment #2
For 30 consecutive days offer a prayer asking for the same thing to Jehovah, Thor, and Zeus.
At the end of 30 days tally the number of prayers granted.
If any prayers were granted this would once again be refuted by JWs as Satan at work. However, once again, that would mean that Satan is a mind reader, omniscient, a hearer of prayers.
Experiment #3
Prayer to Jehovah for reasonable things such as "Please help me obtain a new job. Please help me pay the rent. Please help me find new clothes for the meetings." Then, only do spiritual activities - go to meetings, participate in the ministry, do Bible study. Do this for 30 consecutive days. Do not do anything on your own to further your requests (e.g. apply for jobs). After 30 days, stop praying for those things and only act on your own to obtain them.
At the end of 60 days see which method helped obtain your goals.
