  Do you sometimes bemoan the LOST idea, or Belief, that Someone Powerful was going to set all things right?

  so it looks like about half of my jw relatives are not going back to the meetings once they open up the kingdom halls.

  the main reason all of them give is that if we were truly living in the last days, jehovah would not have allowed the door to door preaching work, and kingdom hall meetings to stop for over a year.. the elders have talked to some of them and tried to convince them that letter writing is accomplishing the same thing as door to door, and zoom is the same as meetings-----------but my relatives just won’t buy it anymore.

  just a note here, at first, the kingdom hall lock-downs, and the no preaching door to door was not that bad,the relatives still held on to their faith strongly because they believed it was temporary.

  You hit the nail on the head. A psychologist recently commented on the current influx of super hero genre of movies. In short, he states that people want someone else to be their savior. It is basically the victim mentality because being a victim is easy - it requires absolutely no effort or action.

  First it was some supernatural power, a god or gods, are going to save us. Then it is the government. We live in a society where the masses put responsibility of saving people on the government and suddenly everything is a right. It's not our job. Our taxes pay for salvation and someone other than ourselves should pay those taxes.

  This is an excellent topic you have raised. Many Witnesses come to this website, or others like it, in search of truth and freedom from the Watchtower. Something that seems to be lacking is support or definitive direction to help with experience of having reality crash all round you.

  It is truly a serious thing, but I think even more for those waking up to the truth about the Truth. One of the reasons for this is many Witnesses right now are like myself - not only born in, but raised as a Witness during a time when Watchtower publications spent a significant amount of time trying to prove other belief systems as false.

  A psychologist once mentioned that when a person's belief system crumbles around them all belief systems crumble. This can lead not only to nihilism, but also neurosis. Witnesses are already primed for this. The Watchtower destroys all other belief systems. So, once the world according to the Watchtower has dissolved as well a person may believe that life is pointless or is just good for experiencing selfish desire.

  PistolePete, I recommend Dr. Viktor Frankl's book Man's Search for Meaning. It really helped me out of the mess I went through.

  Wow! I could only listen to half of that video and I had to stop. I have a hard time coming to terms with the fact that I use to sit in the audience of such talk and just accept whatever was said.

  Statement - A man's brains are 10% bigger than a woman's brain.

  Ok. Maybe on the average. That doesn't mean anything other than generally a man has a bigger brain, head, body, etc.

  Statement - This means women are incapable of taking the lead.

  Wow! What a leap! Then, of all people, the Watchtower claiming this is true because "science" is just too much to take.

  Statement - A woman who wants to do something a different way than the way a man decided to do it is the same as a woman wanting to be a man and this leads to becoming a homosexual. Homosexuality is spreading.

  At that point my head exploded. Coming up with a different way of doing something means you want to be the opposite sex which also means you are catching the homosexual virus. That is what Sam Heard is saying!

  Are things so bad in Honduras that parents are willing to send their children, unaccompanied, to another country and then thrown over a wall into yet another country? Sounds like another country back in the mid-20th century where parents hid their children in someone else's attic to prevent their children from being murdered. The difference is that last country never directly effected the U.S. and the U.S. still sent its military in to fix that atrocity.

  Can Anything Good come out of America? ( Religious Wise )

  i ask the same thing about religion and america the birth place of not a few "christian faiths" ?.

  Religion is not necessary for there to be good.

  True. There must be evil for there to be good. It is the only non-good element required for good to manifest.

  Without religion and the belief of a second chance, humans would be more incline to treasure and respect life.

  I disagree. Without evangelical/protestant reformation sects of Christianity humans would be more inclined to treasure and respect life. Those religions that are tools to experience the truth of the beauty of Now do just that.

  Wanting articles on statistics for the incidence of csa between the Catholic Church and JW

  the catholics are significantly worse.

  Consider that Catholic Church claims to be the original Church (nearly 2 thousand years old) and JWs since 1919. Then take the number of professed Catholics worldwide vs JWs. The amount of child abuse in the JWs is staggering.

  I think it is a great question to ask. The short answer is - yes. However putting that question and answer together doesn't help much.

  How about this question - What would it take for a "good religion" to come out from America and what would it look like?

  Paul Smith, author of Integral Christianity: The Spirit’s Call to Evolve, wrote, "Christianity began in Palestine as an experience, it moved to Greece and became a philosophy, it moved to Italy and became an institution, it moved to Europe and became a culture, and it moved to America and became a business! We’ve left the experience long behind."

  If I dropped my child over a border fence into Mexico I would be arrested. I would be charged with Child Endangerment. I would go to prison and lose custody of my children.

  what they use to be is gone and they will never recover the numbers they once had.

  False memorial partakers deserve to die???

  every memorial, much emphasis is placed on making sure that only the (self-proclaimed) anointed partake in the emblems.

  this year, however, the speaker at my wife's congregation presented it as an even more serious matter.

  he likened it to individuals in ancient israel who sought position of the priesthood despite never been appointed by jehovah.

  Janitors and window washers who have the unique skill of determining if a person has been annointed by God to be a king-priest.

  I think what burns people up inside like that is that as long as there is still 1 annointed on earth Armageddon won't come. So, if no one partakes they will feel like it really is the end. I am surprised the 8 Popes of New York don't just hold a Memorial for themselves and tell the rest of the organization that there is no need to have one anywhere else because they are it.
