Wait - so if the Thousand Year Reign of Christ began in 70 AD but isn't a literal number and has been ongoing ever since, does that mean Satan is still in the Abyss? So when is his release date?
And does this mean Satan had no influence on Hitler?
revelation is the most misunderstood and misused book of the bible.
the branch davidians and other cults used revelation with deadly results.
fundamentalists have used it to prognosticate a future where the antichrist and his one world government mark people with microchips or barcodes during a seven year tribulation.
Wait - so if the Thousand Year Reign of Christ began in 70 AD but isn't a literal number and has been ongoing ever since, does that mean Satan is still in the Abyss? So when is his release date?
And does this mean Satan had no influence on Hitler?

Friday, May 3
“Abraham put faith in Jehovah, and it was counted to him as righteousness,” and he came to be called “Jehovah’s friend.”—Jas. 2:23.
Abraham came to be “Jehovah’s friend”—and that before the ransom sacrifice was offered. (Isa. 41:8) What, then, about true Christians who hope to live in the restored earthly Paradise? These have not received “the free gift of righteousness” with heavenly life in view “through the release by the ransom paid by Christ Jesus.” (Rom. 3:24; 5:15, 17) Nevertheless, they exercise deep faith in God and his provisions, and they manifest their faith by good works. One such work is that of “preaching the kingdom of God . . . and teaching the things concerning the Lord Jesus Christ.” (Acts 28:31) Thus, Jehovah can view these as righteous in the sense that he did Abraham. The gift such ones receive—friendship with God—differs from “the free gift” the anointed receive. Yet, it certainly is a gift that they accept with deep gratitude. w116/15 2:19, 20

Friday's daily text is a reminder to Witnesses that they can only be saved by works, because "the free gift" does not apply to them.
The text cites Romans 3:24:
"and it is as a free gift + that they are being declared righteous by his undeserved kindness + through the release by the ransom + [paid] by Christ * Jesus."
But if you back two verses and actually read it in context:
21 But now apart from law God’s righteousness + has been made manifest, as it is borne witness + to by the Law + and the Prophets; + 22 yes, God’s righteousness through the faith in Jesus* Christ,+ for all those having faith.+ For there is no distinction.+ 23 For all have sinned+ and fall short of the glory of God,+ 24 and it is as a free gift + that they are being declared righteous by his undeserved kindness + through the release by the ransom + [paid] by Christ * Jesus. 25 God set him forth as an offering for propitiation*+ through faith in his blood.+ This was in order to exhibit his own righteousness, because he was forgiving the sins+ that occurred in the past while God was exercising forbearance;+ 26 so as to exhibit his own righteousness+ in this present season, that he might be righteous even when declaring righteous+ the man that has faith in Jesus.
27 Where, then, is the boasting?+ It is shut out. Through what law?+ That of works?+ No indeed, but through the law of faith.+ 28 For we reckon that a man is declared righteous* by faith apart from works of law.+ 29 Or is he the God of the Jews only?+ Is he not also of people of the nations?+ Yes, of people of the nations also,+ 30 if truly God is one,+ who will declare circumcised+ people righteous as a result of faith and uncircumcised+ people righteous by means of their faith. 31 Do we, then, abolish law by means of our faith?+ Never may that happen! On the contrary, we establish law.+
Friday's text is an excellent example of twisting the scriptures and shows a major distinction between JW's and the majority of Christians. They are openly denying the "free gift" from Jesus Christ.
really the whole thing is ludicrious but it is hilarious and sad at the same time to see grown people arguing about weather there will be cars, planes, eat meat, what about fish, etc in a place as imaginary as oz, yet to them it is reality.. the teaching of a paradise earth was so illogical it really was the first thing that started me on the path to waking up.
just the thought that someone could greet their beloved spouse who had died only to come to the realization that they could never be together again struck me as so cruel, i didnt want to live there even if it was all true.. i have heard jws say they think we might be able to fly, read minds since we will be able to use 100% and some seem to think life would be an endless vacation, with modern conveniences with no thought to all the processes and work that goes into something simple like a pencil.
i love the article jwfacts has on the flaws of any theory or teaching of paradise earth.. what are some things you have heard discussed/argued in car groups, gatherings etc when you were in?.
I was in a car group when a younger brother said he can't wait until he no longer has to shave in the New System. An elder who was sitting in the car corrected him and reminded him that there are no beards in any of the pictures of the New System in the publications, meaning we we always have to shave.
please help me to understand how you address this.. from the creation of adam to the birth of noah was about 900 to 1000 years.
during this period literally only a handful of people worshipped the true god.
then came the flood - at which point there were only 8 faithful people the world over.. .
The thinking hurts sooo much... a friend of mine who is of Korean descent asked me why I would possibly believe that in just 5 or 6 thousand years one guys family could produce 7 billion people so fast? I was like man... anything is possible with GOD. But when you try to do the Math and realize its kind of hard to fathom what that must have been like it really brings you back to reality
Here's a population calculator: http://www.metamorphosisalpha.com/ias/population.php
(check the Show Subtotals box and it shows you the population for each year also)
If you start with a population of two people and set it at 6000 years with a growth rate of 0.012, it says the population will be:

not sure if this is the place to say hello and im new but hello and im new here.
i was a jw years ago but not for many years now.
i joined here because i was kicked off the last jw related board i was on.
Welcome
it's interesting how with believing friends and family you can openly doubt the bible.
you can doubt the flood and talk about it.
you can doubt the old testament.
Really? When I was in, I didn't know anybody who would dare question the bible either.
You can bring up questions like, "I don't get it, how could Noah have fit all the animals on the ark?"
Or "The sun standing still for Joshua doesn't make sense. What, did the earth stop turning for a whole day?"
You can ask questions like this without being suspected of apostasy, but if you bring up any doubts or questions about the governing body being God's one true channel on earth, you will raise red flags and be a target of suspicion for apostasy.
ages like 20-25 or younger.i mean damn,a 21 year old guy in my congo got baptised a couple weeks back and now his in a relationship with a jw gal and their getting married soon.any thoughts?.
Because they wanna get laid.
now i am going to do a rear thing here and i am going to stick up for the wts.
i realise that the wts hasn't got the best of track record, and sure they have made mistakes.
but if i was to go to another church wouldn't they still have the same issues.
If you really want to follow in Jesus' footsteps just imitate what he did. He knew right from wrong. He didn't need any other humans to tell him how to live, what choices to make, even though they claimed to be God's chosen group on earth. He lived his life the way he knew to be right, and so can you.
so my husband (who was never a jw) saw a christian bumper sticker today and asked me if the witnesses have any.
i said no (not that i know of anyway) so here are a few he came up with.. 'honk if you're a zombie'.
'my other car is noah's ark'.
In case of Armageddon, this driver will be alive
in case anyone is wondering about our registration policy:.
i don't intend to turn people away who want to register and post or make ultra-strict registration procedures because i honestly don't think that they work.
if i were to ask for names of congregations or presiding overseers then i have no real way of checking if they are correct.
Psst anybody know the password from the latest Kingdom Ministry?
