I just remind myself that these so called god fearing clean cut fakers will let a child die on an operating table, will turn their backs on their own flesh and blood and will tear you down with slander if you don't stay in line and yet there are people in my town that will throw on fire suits and enter burning buildings to save people they don't know nor even take the time to judge.

one of the things i have been wresting with mentally is unraveling the "us vs. them" mentality that has been driven into my skull in the organization.. i am starting this thread seeking advice on how others have come to grip with this.. this is what i struggle with:.
i like the feeling/thought of being among people that live, or try to live, or at least know they ought to live by higher standards of conduct (maybe it is just what i'm used to...).
when you walk out of a convention of people dressed up, clean-cut, shaven, non-smoking, less-profanity-speaking, fairly orderly etc and see what greets you in the streets outside, it is a big contrast.. i am also still trying to understand how a religion that has conned people (so is morally wrong) could also be so well organized and have a lot of truly decent folks among their ranks.

i was wondering if anyone is aware of any recordings of the convention as of yet?
i know its relatively early, so i may just have to wait.
just curious if anyone had a copy yet.. thanks!.

that is the reason the watchtower leaders are desperately trying to protect their indoctrinated supporters from being influenced by the critics.. it will get harder and harder to recruit in countries where the internet is easily accessible...the watchtower has no control over the public like it does the indoctrinated jws.
..any interested person can very easily google and learn the truth about the watchtower cult before a 'return visit' can be made.
although most jws would be afraid to go into 'apostate ' sites, more and more are waking up to the truth about the watchtower , their interest triggered by different reasons such as the child abuse cover up, the constantly changing doctrines, the downsizing etc.

hello everyone just wanted to relate a situation that occurred a few days ago.
so i have quit going to meetings for a few months now based on some issues i have with the explanations of current doctrines.
my wife is none too happy with this but over the last few months we have had some date nights and have tentitively agreed to disagree.
I just went through a very similar experience. I got away safe for the moment also. I can tell by the looks of some that know though that it is only a matter of time. At least my wife has realized all that she has done by turning me in is embarass us both. She now does not bother to ask me what I am reading on the internet. I did loose all priviledges except commenting. Not that I care! lol.

i bumped into this website....really interesting:.
you however need a pw to access....if this was more popular, i could see khall attendance dropping, as we know, most people simple go just to appease others: .
"Also, from time to time the CO will get on the elders' case if "too many" are listening in on the phone lines instead of showing up in person at the KH."
This just happened at my hall.

engages in revisionist history [1914 christ's presense foretold].
judge rutherford was a false prophet and a crook [1925, beth-serim].
This doesn't always mean tucking your tail and running from your problems. Do what you have to do and don't let others guilt you into it.
For the ones who believe in Bible - What does the scriptures here imply on subjection to religious leaders? - Hebrews 13:17-19, 22-25by MissConfused in
do we really need an organization and need to be in subjection to it as god always chose leaders (abhraham, moses, jesus, apostles)?
what are your thoughts?
how can you reason this out?.
In the first century the apostles were dealing with many false teachings creeping in. Today, 2000 years later we have no apostles. But it is their teaching that we must be obedient to. So we only listen to those that teach what they taught. With Bible in hand it is not hard to tell who to listen to. In this way we are really being obedient to Christ as he used them to set matters straight. We do not need any new light. Jesus is our light.

up until now, everlasting life was dependent on "taking in knowledge".
it was a perfect fit for a publishing house to interpret that scripture that way.
if we didn't keep up with the endless stream of publications from the watchtower our salvation would be in jeopardy.

thought i'd start a thread discussing all the scriptures where the watchtower translation committee has taken liberties and abused verses they've translated in the nwt.. worst of all are the numerous places in the christian greek scriptures where 'jehovah' has been inserted where the tetragrammaton or any equivalent of it does not occur in any extant mss and where the context could just as easily mean, or even more likely mean, the identity being spoken of is jesus christ rather than the father.
although in many places out of the 237 in the nt where they have done this the identity is clearly or most probably the father (jehovah) as distinct from the son (jesus), there are dozens of occurrences where this is not the case.. here are a whole lot more scriptures abused by the translators of the nwt, copied from the freeminds website (article written j bowman, scholar):.
(John 19:6) 6 However, when the chief priests and the officers saw him, they shouted, saying: “Impale [him]! Impale [him]!” Pilate said to them: “Take him yourselves and impale him, for I do not find any fault in him. . .
However, when the cheif priest and the officers saw him, they shouted,"To the stake with him! To the stake with him!" "Take him yourselves and execute him,
