I am a little confused as to who Unthank is and what his position is in all of this.
I am clear as to the fact that he seems to be the one exposing this and I hope he has a reward in heaven for doing this.
This doesn't surprise me, any of it, other than the fact that it is happening in 2011. I thought the org had guidelines to that this kind of pastoral abuse would no longer be afactor, even though we can have no guarantees of the action of individual JW'S.
I am naive, obviously.
jwdaughter I am just as confused as you. The most puzzling thing is why the police visited the Tralagon Congregation during the meeting? Presently I am wondering if the elders called the police thenselves because they were expecting trouble from MR Unthank and whoever was with him.
Is there any way to check with the police if they are actually doing an investigation into the congregation and if they visited the congregation during the meeting as part of this investigation.

So "The Quiet One" now has a problem with my domestic abuse article...
by cedars insorry about this, i generally don't like confrontation of any kind, but a situation has arisen on another thread, and i thought i would give the quiet one the opportunity to explain her reasons as to why she dislikes my article on domestic abuse without hijacking someone else's thread in the process.. the sad thing is, i had an entire thread devoted to publicizing this article and receiving feedback, but he/she chose not to say anything on that thread, but have a go at me on an entirely unrelated thread.. anyway, i'm copying and pasting the whole conversation so that both sides of the argument can be seen.. a copy of the offending article can be found here: "'won without a word' - at what cost?".
i'm not necessarily asking anyone else to join in the discussion, although you are welcome to do so if you wish to add anything.
the purpose of this thread is to give "the quiet one" the platform that he/she evidently craves to criticize the article in public (i have offered to discuss this over pms, but that offer hasn't been taken).. so anyway, sorry about this folks... (sigh).

cedars, I got the impression that thequietone was being a little tongue in cheek and that he is agreeing with you more than he is disagreeing and he is just as committed to exposing the WTS as you are.

Do Not Forsake the Gathering of Yourselves Together
by N.drew indoesn't it mean for life, not death?
in other words, does it mean don't leave anyone out?
they interpret it as do not leave yourself out, but what i think it means is do not leave (in your imagination) anyone out for lost.

okay i think I understand, NDrew. I can see how the WTS' is oriented towards death and how the interpretation you suggest is oriented towards life. So then one would have to carry over the "let us consider one another to incite to love and fine works... to not forsake anyone while we count ourselves in"?
Also regarding your other point above - of course one cannot encompass everyone in one's thoughts (my mistake) - so perhaps it is better to say being open to the compossibility of all in Christ and also as a future thing.

don't undersand what you mean Ndrew. I think most religions use that verse to engender social cohesion and mutual encouragement. are you suggesting to hold the ideas as encompassing everyone in one's thoughts?
