Hi Paul; I know how you feel. I was disfellowshipped for ending a bad marriage. At the time, I had every intention of being reinstated. Being well known and an ex-elder, one of the elders in the JC wanted to make an example of me. The other two were close friends but absolutely spineless. After two years, I got sick of the charade & found your site. After that revelation, I bought & read Ray's book. That really opened my eyes & I never looked back. I'm happily married, have family home for Thanksgiving & am so glad that one elder had an axe to grind. So if any of you know Frank M., an elder with the Palmyra, NY congregation, thank him for me. He gave me my life back & I'm ever so thankful. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Letter I wrote to the person the caused me to be disfellowshipped
by jwfacts ina thread on another forum reminded me of a letter i wrote to the person that went to the elders and started the proceedings to have me disfellowshipped.
i stopped believing in the religion when i was 25 but continued going for about ten years.
i finally started to fade at 35, but about 6 months after i had stopped going to meetings, a person wrote a letter to the elders about my website, which at the time was anonymous.

Can it be delayed until 1914?
by Doug Mason inunder the heading of "can it be delayed until 1914?
" in zion's watch tower of july 15, 1894, russell advised his readers that the trouble they were experiencing was taking place exactly as he had anticipated 17 years earlier.. russell's readers were concerned that, given the troubles they were experiencing, matters could not hold out until 1914.. he comforted them with the information that 1914 was not the date for the beginning of the time of trouble, but for its end.. the full text and a scan of that page from the watch tower is available at:.

Hi Dog1; My story's pretty much the same. 50 yrs in. Elder. Parts on conventions. RBC member. Father-in-law of the anointed. He personally knew Rutherford. Had Schrouder, CO's, DO's over for dinner on regular basis. Would most likely still be in but after 34 yrs. of a loveless marriage I left to marry the love of my life. She was not a witness. Knew I would get DF'd but was working on getting back in. Because of being a high profile witness, the JC wanted to make an example of me. After 2 yrs. of trying to get back in, I got disgusted & started to examine the "Truth". After reading Ray Franz's account, I knew I was never coming back. I still believe the Witnesses got many thing right. But what they got wrong, they got tragically wrong. The beauty about this site is you are free to expres your opinions & not get kicked out. A thought from the Boreans; " Never relinguish your right to question the authority of men."
After all this, my credo has become "Live Well....Enjoy Life !"
Welcome.

Disneyland's: The Haunted Mansion. Is it for True Christians or is it full of Demonzzss and JW's should stay away?
by LoisLane looking for Superman inhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9k4wjvmhi.
bro "elder" took his family to disneyland.
the first day, he did not want them to go on this "demonic" ride.

Tried smoking a joint on the ride when we were 18. Figured it would be dark, who would see us? Had the front seat. They were shaped like clamshells so we thought no one would see us. Half way through the ride the seats turn sideways. Forgot the smoke was blowing behind us. Startled, we looked behind us only to see everyone looking forward. I guess the JW's were right.........

SFPW; You're correct. You can't fault the publishers for being allowed to carry out an absolutely fruitless endeavor. This approval would have to come from the leadership. Do you believe Jesus would have approved this waste of time during these "critical last days" ? Hardly. Then add counting this time as "service" must really add insult to injury. Ironically, as these aren't the "last days" , the "true religion" is not here and you're not it, this is just a collosal waste of time. Too bad, it seemed like such a nice day to be wasted.

Let me see if I've got this straight.
by Terry inif jehovah's witnesses did not publicize the name jehovah the almighty living god, supreme being and most powerfull entity in all.
the universe would be dwelling in anonymity?.
wow.

The GENERATION explanation is now a BOLD FACE LIE
by scotoma inwhen i first heard about the new "generation" explanation i was confused because i didn't see clearly how they were explaining it.. now it looks like they finally figured it out for themselves and it is no longer confusing.. it is now a simple, ignorant, bold face lie.. this is from the january 1st watchtower.
(and i hope to hell someone from writing gets wind of this).
paragraph 15 page 31 blue stands for the exact words in the watchtower.

Hi Vid; I made that point to 2 witnesses that showed up at my door. Jesus' understanding of a generation in it's first fulfillment was 37 yrs. from 33 until 70.
Long enough for those who heard the warning to benefit from it. Evidently, the GB doesn't consider Jesus' understanding of a generation as correct. Maybe
they should kick him out for "running ahead". He can always join us.

I need help when answering proof of WT being only religion
by DS211 inok so i have already been talked to about this and i always have difficulty finding a retort.
my friend/elder condtantly tells me to visit bethel to prove its gods org--efficient, obedient, loving place, yadda yadda.
and he also uses how many go out and preach the same message, how no matter where you go youll get the same loving treatment, follow the bible as best they can (ha), show lots of love, do t celebrate pagan holidays, etc etc.

I have found this question starts a good discussion;" As you are willing to sacrifice not only your life but the lives of your family in the name of this religion, what hard proof do you have that this is exclusively the true religion?' All respones will be subjective. True love, unity & obedience. Point out that those are not exclusive; any religion can claim that. True love? How about the pedophile cases. Unity? Nazis had that. Obedience too. Mark of the true religion would be accurate prophesy. WBTS has had ZERO. Have fun with this.

5,460 ( FIFTY FOUR SIXTY ) Five thousand four hundred sixty!
by Terry ini received the bootprint of jehovah on my ass 35 years ago.. i've missed a lot of meetings since that time.
well, i can't say i've emotionally "missed" them!.
while writing my book i had cause to reflect on what my life might have been had i not walked out of a kingdom hall for the last time in 1978.. what if i had gone on attending meetings?.

I pass a hall every Sunday morning. Usually I am:
Going skiing.
Taking my lovely wife to breakfast.
Screaming past on my Harley.
Taking the wife yard sailing. ( I'm on the fence about going into the hall on this one.)
You're right Terry. If nothing else, I have redeemed thousands of hours of my life back. Hours that would have been sacrificed to a cult. Such a waste.
I'll take yard sailing after all.
