Telling People You Used To Be A JW

since i faded i've told a few people at work about having been raised in this organization but i found that most people don't really get what it is like at all.

they just focus on not celebrating holidays as if that is the worst thing about growing up jw.

i didn't explain much because it's too much for most people to handle.

I find that admitting to being raised a Jobot is fairly meaningless to most people.

It doesn't come up in normal conversations. No one really cares or would get it.

Someone was surprised recently becaus I didn't know certain old old hymns. I just told him, 'I wasn't raised a Christian'.

Most people are more concerned about the cost of living or the price of Freddos now.

..........anyway, what about the price of Freddo? I'm shocked!!!

No. I am not interested in the pantomime that is Starmer, Trump or those other world leaders. It all pales into insignificance compared to the price of Freddo bars. (Sorry if my non Brit cousins are unfamiliar with this amazing choc bar).

i am non political and have never voted but nonetheless i have been keenly watching to see how the trump presidential race unfolds.

i believe that his involvement in propelling or influencing a leaning toward bible prophecy will unfold.

how, i can’t say but something tells me that this anomaly and outlier being trump is highly signifiant!

We are all living in our own last days. Every day is a bonus. All things will end but how or why? It's best not to know and to just keep living each day as it arrives.

It's no good trying to predict an apocalyptic end from any Holy books. They really don't say.

Jehovah's Witnesses came by today.

this morning i was in our front yard sitting down pulling weeds when i saw 3 people slowly walking on the sidewalk in my direction.

2 of them were young, handsome, clean shaven, wearing nice crisp white shirts and perfectly tailored black slacks.

they could have been mormons except.... there was a 60ish portly woman wearing a frumpy dress and ugly sandals.

Re-activate me?

there was a knock at my door and i thought it was my take-away being delivered.. long story short, it was 2 elders calling to see me.

i guess to re-activate me.

Long story short, it was 2 Elders calling to see me. I guess to re-activate me. Once they said who they were I recognised them. To be fair, one I'd known since childhood and he was a kind of hero of mine.

He asked me, 'How do you feel about the Brothers(tm)?'

Now, this is the new me....I replied, 'I love them all but the Governing Body are not who they say they are and I'll never go back to the meetings. But...I don't want to go into it because I don't want to be impolite.' I was being kind when I said it....and they knew that I meant them no malice.

A few years ago, I'd have argued and been unpleasant. Not anymore.

Much was said, including what rumours had come back to me about myself. I actually made them smile. They left on good terms understanding that there was no chance I'd ever be a Jobot again.

Then my kebabs arrived.

I just wanted to share that.

there was on older white-haired circuit overseer in houston around 1989 or 1990. last name started with a w i think.... not sure though.

I didn't like Ray Shah, Charldon Johnson or Richard Cullen. There was an older bloke, white hair but I don't recall his name. Arrogant old turd. Ted something? Probably just as well because I don't care anymore. I found all the newer CO's were corporate shills. Not like the ones from the 60's and 70's when they still had some compassion. The ones I met before I escaped were grotty specimens.

from the earliest of times of the catholic church's ecumenical councils were used to make major changes to its doctrinal direction.

decisions were made by bishops, they were ratified by the pope ... and it was done.

and the laity had to accepted them or not.. and while splinter catholic religions accepted most of these councils, non-trinitarian faiths which developed latter (of which jehovah's witnesses are apart) did not.
