From ''ever since'', certain Christian types have wanted their era to be relevant. They want messiah to come in their day. EG. 1914, 1975....you get the point?

The Bible clearly states the no one knows the day or hour, so it's pointless bothering to make 'today' the day for the rapture, the return, or whatever you believe.

.......and please.....stop thinking America is the only country in the world and everyone lives by it's rules. The USA isn't the hub you think it is. It's just another place on the globe, not the centre of it.

The righteousness of God is through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe, since there is no distinction.

I think God got his inspired word wrong and meant the GB instead of Jesus.

the apostles creed could be recited in less than a minute in latin.

it was like an ancient youtube video clip: christianity in less than a minute.

it is very ancient, reaching back to the 200's.

The Creed, Nicean or otherwise is packed with meaning.

The GB want all glory for themselves.

Anything associated with Christianity, like the Creed, will be avoided because they don't want anyone thinking they are connected with the Catholic or Anglican Churches. Where's the money and exclusive power trip in that?

I first came across the Creed at Evensong in Peterboro' Cathedral many years ago here in the UK. I did think it was powerful stuff.

Mind you, the Jobots don't even say the Lord's prayer.

I'm surprised they haven't invented their own mantra to praise the GB and the Corporation.....he said sarcastically.

i officially joined this web-site 12 years ago as pimo about to exit the organisation.

i had spent about a year before that, as just a none commenting member.

I know the feeling. I check in from time to time out of curiosity and to check if there are any unread messages.

Otherwise, I have little to no interest in all things Jobot. It seems like another lifetime ago that I have left behind.

All I know is that being a Jobot has probably done me permanent damage.

how often do you hear the lord's prayer at the meetings or in jw homes?.

i don't know if they revised their stance with the new leaders in america, but i don't recall it having much weight when i were a wee'un.. i think the nwt said, 'pray then, this way....'.

so, jesus gave instructions on how to pray, as in actual words to say.......so the jws don't?

Telling People You Used To Be A JW

since i faded i've told a few people at work about having been raised in this organization but i found that most people don't really get what it is like at all.

they just focus on not celebrating holidays as if that is the worst thing about growing up jw.

i didn't explain much because it's too much for most people to handle.

I find that admitting to being raised a Jobot is fairly meaningless to most people.

It doesn't come up in normal conversations. No one really cares or would get it.

Someone was surprised recently becaus I didn't know certain old old hymns. I just told him, 'I wasn't raised a Christian'.

Most people are more concerned about the cost of living or the price of Freddos now.

..........anyway, what about the price of Freddo? I'm shocked!!!

No. I am not interested in the pantomime that is Starmer, Trump or those other world leaders. It all pales into insignificance compared to the price of Freddo bars. (Sorry if my non Brit cousins are unfamiliar with this amazing choc bar).

i am non political and have never voted but nonetheless i have been keenly watching to see how the trump presidential race unfolds.

i believe that his involvement in propelling or influencing a leaning toward bible prophecy will unfold.

how, i can’t say but something tells me that this anomaly and outlier being trump is highly signifiant!

We are all living in our own last days. Every day is a bonus. All things will end but how or why? It's best not to know and to just keep living each day as it arrives.

It's no good trying to predict an apocalyptic end from any Holy books. They really don't say.

Let's just do our best to tolerate a frugal and austere existence under the heartless, Marxist dictatorship of Kier Starmer.

Jehovah's Witnesses came by today.

this morning i was in our front yard sitting down pulling weeds when i saw 3 people slowly walking on the sidewalk in my direction.

2 of them were young, handsome, clean shaven, wearing nice crisp white shirts and perfectly tailored black slacks.

they could have been mormons except.... there was a 60ish portly woman wearing a frumpy dress and ugly sandals.

Re-activate me?

there was a knock at my door and i thought it was my take-away being delivered.. long story short, it was 2 elders calling to see me.

i guess to re-activate me.

Long story short, it was 2 Elders calling to see me. I guess to re-activate me. Once they said who they were I recognised them. To be fair, one I'd known since childhood and he was a kind of hero of mine.

He asked me, 'How do you feel about the Brothers(tm)?'

Now, this is the new me....I replied, 'I love them all but the Governing Body are not who they say they are and I'll never go back to the meetings. But...I don't want to go into it because I don't want to be impolite.' I was being kind when I said it....and they knew that I meant them no malice.

A few years ago, I'd have argued and been unpleasant. Not anymore.

Much was said, including what rumours had come back to me about myself. I actually made them smile. They left on good terms understanding that there was no chance I'd ever be a Jobot again.

Then my kebabs arrived.

I just wanted to share that.
