Best Argument for Atheism?
by leavingwt inmy own faith did not survive an 'outside test for faith'.
below, the author gives an example of how outsiders to most religions examine those religions critically, and dimiss them.
turning a critical eye towards my beliefs was a bit scary, but i decided it was the only proper thing to do, for me.

Here's the PDF of a his PowerPoint presentation;
I had a read at David Galloway's power-point, I was imagining how intensely frustrating it would have been to sit through that presentation without the opportunity to challenge the numerous fallacies. Preaching to the choir is easy.
There is no doubt faith can be made to sound reasonable and rational but it needs to avoid the difficult questions. LeavingWT makes a good point about objectivity, I agree its not possible for a believer to be genuinely objective about their faith

Rutherford describing Beth Sarim -
"I purposely had the grounds landscaped with palm trees and olive trees so the princes of the universe will feel at home" said Judge Rutherford.
Pending their return he lives there himself, but not without incident. One morning, he said, a seedy character approached and said "Hello Judge, I'm Daniel."
"I saw at once that he was not" said Judge Rutherfor, and he still awaits the Biblical claimants to the home.

Wobble is spot on. Listen and let them talk. Be prepared for their anger, don't tell them how they ought to feel. Reassure them that their loved ones will be looked after. Tell them why they have made a difference in their lives.
Far better than false comfort and fairy stories

Jerry Berman is a history denying, young earth creationist, Answers-in-Genesis, guru (and an ex-jw) who never got over the persecution complex
Here is a review of a debate he did last year with PZ Myers on Kittywhumpus' blog
It was soon after this that he brought up Hitler. Hitler had enormous support from the scientists, he said, holding up a book called "Hitler's Ethic: The Nazi Support of Evolutionary Progress." Oh, man. Really? Did you have to? See, right up until then, I was just feeling sorry for his rambling and inferior performance, and then... he brought up Hitler. No scientists, he said, openly opposed Hitler. Really? You want to say that again? You want some time to think about it, first?

If you learned one new fact every day you would eventually run out of new things to learn
If you learned one new skill every century you would eventually be a master of every conceivable activity
