holy spirit and miracles
by inbetween ina thought, that came during last weeks wt study:.
jw believe, that any miraculous gift of the hs is gone in our time, since we have the complete, gods word.. on the other hand, they claim , hs serves them as teacher and remembrancer !.
but is this not also a miracle ?.

A thought, that came during last weeks WT study:
JW believe, that any miraculous gift of the HS is gone in our time, since we have the complete, Gods word.
On the other hand, they claim , HS serves them as teacher and remembrancer !
But is this not also a miracle ?
Or can you in any scientific way explain, how HS works ?
if not, its a miracle. So if JW claim, they have HS, they believe in the HS working miracles even today...
Most JW dont see this, a sister even commented, that this action of HS as remembrancer is not a miracle...

Awake Articles
by Ding ini always used to wonder about those awake articles that had nothing to do with anything like, "interesting nutritional facts" or other articles that could have just as well appeared in the reader's digest.. can someone explain the purpose of those types of stories?.
the only thing i can see is that people at the door might be willing to look at them even if they wouldn't take the watchtower, thereby giving jws an excuse to make a backcall..

was the awake always like it is now ?
when it started, I think 1920, it was called "consolation", then it was renamed (forgot what).
however, it seems it started off clearly religious, and later got more "worldly" in their subjects, mostly because many people prefer non-religious magazins anyway. So it was just some kind of marketing trick, to make people take the magazins...
in fact I recall many times people telling, they prefer the awake...no wonder for the WT, esp when the study article was in the normal edition, you need insider knowledge, otherwise it just sounds like bla, bla, bla....
of course, once you surpassed this insider knowledge, it becomes again blah, blah, blah...

For those still in- why do you (really) stay, and what would it take for you to leave the org?
by serenitynow! infor the so-called conscious class, those of you who know it's all a disgusting lie, what is the real reason you stay in?
i find it hard to understand how ones who know what the org truly is would continue to be an active jw.
i'm not talking about the "faders"- those with an actual plan to get out as painlessly as possible.

well put, MLE !!!
almost exact the same here, my main reasons: family, and the fact, that our congo is ok, elders are caring, and reasonable.
of course, there are days, I just wish to scream and run......

Jehovah's Witnesses Are REALLY Not The Brightest Bulbs In The Sky!
by minimus inthey are so simple, so ignorant, it's embarrassing!.
when apologists come here and attempt to spar with the enlightened ones on the board, the witnesses really look dumb.. their self righteous arrogance coupled with their stupefying ignorance makes me feel pretty pretty good about myself!.

wow, what a thread !
while I do not consider myself as highly intelligent, I do have the ability to discern someones thinking abilities to a degree. Through my job, I deal with a large number of all different kind of people, among them many with college degrees, even sometimes univ-professors.
I frequently have to argue against them in certain cases, and I am able to see someones capabilities on their field.
The same time I know a number of JW, some with, some without higher education. A few of them I consider the even most intelligent persons I met. ( of course, I also know quite a number of stupid ones too)
They have their doubts on certain areas, but all, and thats the main problem, accept the WTS as Gods org.
It seems, that for some, their intelligence might even be an obstacle of seeing simple truths, since their mind finds creative ways of defending their premisse.
So, among the brightest bulbs in the sky, there are also some JW, they just refuse to aapply the same critical thinking, of which they are certainly capable of, to the teachings of the WTS.

Blood transfusions for pets
by Heartofaboy inhas anyone had the experience of their pet being saved by a blood transfusion?.
a lovely down to earth couple in my old congregation allowed a transfusion for their dog when it developed life threatening complications after surgery.
lo & behold the transfusion did actually save the dog's life.

this point, even before I got to know the truth about the troof, I never accepted, the prohibition on blood was for humans, never for animals. why create mosquitos, who live of blood, if this is an issue ?
man, how can anybody in good mind accept such nonsense ?

Loyalty Keeps Us Morally Clean
by sd-7 ina rebellion had begun.
in moses' absence, the israelites built a golden calf and engaged in idolatrous reveling.
the clamor of their immoral festivities was clearly identifiable as improper.

haha, its great sd-7
I wonder, if you print it out, and show a dub, they would not recognize it as fake, just say, its from the newest edition of Dec 15 2010 !!
they would swallow it, certainly....

To serving elders and anyone else who went to the SM this week ...
by wannabefree injw serving elders ... did any of you have to handle the part at the sm this week on why jehovah's witnesses are not a false prophet?.
this part made me livid.
our most corporate elder handled this part and i felt my self wanting to refute everything he said.

elderelite: Thanks you saved some time for me , since I wanted to research this topic...
I heard, some were a bit confused about the fact, that our MS called JW as prophets in a sense, so maybe I can help some to start thinking a bit.
babysteps, you know....

we had an MS handling it, even touched on subjects like 1975...of course was not a false prophecy, just wrong expactations...
For me it was never really a problem, that 1975 was wrong, mistakes can happen, however, what bothered me always, is that they tried to blame the "normal" brothers, and long time denied responsibility of the org !
striking though is the false analogy: appstles asking when the time will come compared to claiming of JW that the end will come 1914, 1925, 1975...and demanding their followers to stop getting education, good job etc....
