So my wife is upset her MIPI father is broke because of being a witness.

i posted this before, but my wife is upset and not handling it well.

her mother has alzheimer and is in a care facility for the rest of her life.

between medicare and caid she is paid for the care.

It continues - a sucker born every minute.

At the last service meeting I attended a few weeks ago the "Pious Poverty" (thanks for that Spiral!) set (mid thirties - no kids - part time jobs - pioneer types) were sticking their hands up talking about "not serving two masters" and "putting kingdom interests" first.

Trouble is retirement age is going up and up here in the UK. In 2010 women got state pension at 60. Now it is 65. By 2020 it will be 66 for men and women. By 2028 it will be 67.

Add to that hand to mouth living and not putting money away for retirement because Armageddy's a comin' and you have a recipe for disaster as countries spread their tax dollars more thinly.

Because for the past 5 years the CO will put a "circuit heavy" as chairman of the judicial committee ~~to ensure the child's needs are met lovingly and caringly and so that the child is protected from further abuse and any perpetrator is brought to book~~ so that every "i" is dotted and every "t" is crossed to ensure WT is not legally responsible for ANYTHING.

Just another note that will falsely inflate the "Wales attendances" and in fairness has done at Cardiff for decades.

Cardiff also gets cities and town's from England assigned to it - such as the Avon circuit (whatever it is called now) which has about 18-20 congregations and includes the city of Bristol and towns such as Weston-super-Mare and Clevedon.

This adds in about 1200-1500 attendees.

Seems like a Britain Branch version to me - resolutions etc. to keep the charity commission sweet. Don't know what happens in US/Oz etc.

A meeting off during the memorial week - yay! Not that I would have gone anyway.

No "congregation" picnics or gatherings - if it goes tits up you'll carry the can for arranging it brother "much too kind". They suck the tiniest amount of joy that the dubbies had going for them don't they?

Now this latest case I understand may well go to another case - let's see what transpires.

As for your allusion to - I guess - Sir Cliff Richard - my view was that the BBC went far beyond what they should have done - perhaps the pendulum swung too far from "hand-wringing" and cover -up in the Savile case to "gotta catch 'em all" in Sir Cliff's case.

They got egg on their face and had to pay substantial fines and compensation - quite rightly - to Sir Cliff.

from what i understand, a letter was read this past week in regards to congregation reassignments and that the elders want to meet with people at their homes to tell them where they have been reassigned.

obviously, this would be due to the merging and dissolution of congregations.

can anyone confirm this?.

Yes. Here in the UK in the list I put in my post on the previous page, the halls being sold in Bath and Bristol are the older valuable listed buildings from the Victorian era - the buildings bought and converted by the earliest congregations in the UK - bought cheaply just after WW2 and now in prime property spots fetching 500K up to £1 million pounds. And this is not the real prime area of London where the old branch is being stripped to pay for Chelmsford and then SOME £££££!

The congregations that are being moved from them intact (as opposed to the ones being dissolved) are being moved out to share 3 or 4 to a hall into the 1980's "quickbuild" halls about five to ten miles away - further in rural areas.

These are much less valuable - may be £100/150K.

No new builds round here. (West of England and South Wales) Just rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic but slowly enough to make millions from it.

And of course every dissolved congregations assets go where? Every moved congregations assets go where? LONDON then NEW YORK
