  paul makes no sense???

  is it just me, but when i read my bible (nwt) i found whole pages of pauls writing that i didn't understand and couldn't make head nor tail of.

  i also noticed that the borg tended to only quote certain scriptures that they thought they could make sense of pauls writings, and these were quoted over and over again.

  but surely the whole bible is supposed to be inspired and benifical ... bla bla bla etc?.

  Our "Bible Study" with the Jehovah's Witnesses

  my wife and i had a "bible study" with an elder and his wife yesterday (9-11-09) and the topic was marraige.

  the book we covered was "keeping yourself in god's love.

  " this particular "bible study" was based primarily on the topic we covered in the book and, of course, there was a lot of "hop scotching" of the bible.

  Gary, in relation to your not understanding the 144,000 section, please review Revelation 14:4 as it also tells us that the 144,000 are Firstfruits and virgins who have not "defiled" themselves with women.

  JW's take the 144,000 section as not being symbolic, but the fact that the 144,000 have to be men and Jewish is symbolic.

  Can someone explain to me and Gary how the WTB$ explain this? Why is only part of that scripture not symbolic??

  Well done on fully researching the JW's. I wish I had done the same thing, unfortunately, I was forced into getting baptised when I was very young. It was either sticking with the programme or becoming homeless.

  After all these years, I have come to realise that there is no god. There simply can't be. If we are to believe in the god of the bible, then I'd rather die at Armagenocide rather than have to serve a bloodthirsty god named Jehovah.

  As you are the type of guy that likes his research, please look into the evidence that there simply cannot be a god. Start off by reading The God Delusion, or, read this book;

  soft sentences for child killers has sparked prison protest plans.. around 100 people are expected to turn up at the demonstration outside low newton prison in county durham, where notorious inmate tracey connelly has been caged for her part in the death of her son, baby p.. the protest by the abused babies and children (abc) foundation was prompted by revelations connelly, her boyfriend steven barker and his brother jason owen have launched appeal bids against their sentences.. peter connelly, baby ps real name, died after suffering months of abuse.. haringey social services, doctors and the metropolitan police all failed to remove him from his mothers care despite evidence he was being abused.. tracey was ordered to be held indefinitely a minimum of five years after pleading guilty to a charge of causing or allowing the death of a child or vulnerable person and was transferred to low newton prison after receiving death threats in styals womens prison, cheshire.. as it emerged connelly had lodged an appeal, the abc foundations organiser mandy francis, 52, said: we were disgusted with the sentences handed out to these killers and then they decided to add insult to injury by appealing against their sentences.. we want to help get peter the justice he deserves and for the government to realise that people are fed up with the paltry sentences handed out by the courts in cases like this.

  life should mean life.. the abc foundation, who will stage their protest on october 4, are also furious connelly, barker and owen could be given new identities for their protection.. barker, who was also convicted of raping a two-year-old girl, was jailed for life with a minimum of 10 years for the rape and a 12-year sentence for peters death.

  when you where at the demon hall, did you ever get a talk about how easy it was to serve jehovah?.

  i was having a conversation with a friend recently about this and i wrote down what is expected of a jehovah's witness;.

  go to 4 meeting per week.

  I'm not an active member, although I do go to the odd cultfest every now and then.

  You asked that active JW's comment on here first. What do you expect them to say? First off, any active JW on here should be ashamed of themselves, after all, it's sites like this that the WTB$ warn them against.

  Anyway, back on topic........

  Jehovah is tool. He doesn't exist, he can't exist. Read the bible, cover to cover and you'll see for yourself that the god of the bible cannot be a real entity. Therefore, in my opinion, the GB are just normal men, who have had it good.

  I was having a conversation with a friend recently about this and I wrote down what is expected of a Jehovah's Witness;

  • Go to 4 meeting per week. This includes getting ready twice a week for the meetings. if you've got kids, you've got to get them dressed and ready to. A good brother (or sister) goes and picks up one of the elderly brothers/sisters on his way to the meetings. Therefore, travelling to and from the Demon Hall is included also.
  • Preparation for 3 of the 4 meetings.
  • Going out on the ministry on the weekends, but it's also best if you can go out during the week to.
  • Reading the montly editions of the Watchtower and Awake!
  • Daily bible reading.
  • Family study.
  • Personal study.
  • Prayer.
  • Prepare to go to 1, 2 and 3 day assemblies. This involves the same sort of stepsas going to the meetings, but on a much larger scale.
  • Going to the Memorial.
  • Calling up brothers/sisters to arrange to go to the ministry.
  • Preparing yourself for your return visit(s).
  • Preparing yourself for your bible study.
  • Cleaning the Demon Hall
  • Shepherding Visits
  • Lunch with the Gay CO (our's is gay you see. Not that I have a problem with that, but I always thought Jehovah did).

  Can anyone add other points?

  You see, it's not easy at all.
