BIBLE CONTRADICTIONS
by elder-schmelder inhttp://www.infidels.org/library/modern/jim_meritt/bible-contradictions.html.
if you believe that the bible is gods word, don't you get sick of making excuses for all the contradictions?.

“What sort of answer would satisfy you? It is clear that the answer given takes into account the context of the verses, and the audiences of the individual books. I have no issue with how this alleged contradiction is explained. Why do you have an issue with?” - XJW4EVR
The person admits that it is prudent for us to test things and to weigh the evidence of the things we are asked to believe. But then said that we have to remember that in context, Paul is personifying love. And the characteristics which can be found in love are a propensity to trust. Love does not approach things with suspicion. If something can, in good conscience be believed, then it ought to be believed.
Don’t you think that this is the problem with the WBTS? Followers think that the GB are personifying love and the characteristics which can be found in love are a propensity to trust. Therefore they don’t think that they have to “test all things” and are following man. And now those people are members of a dangerous mind control group.
“Ah, yes, there it is, the skeptics ad hominem. We skeptics are so much smarter, and you Christians are a bunch of bithering idiots. Glad to see that. It actually causes my trust in the Bible to grow (1 Cor. 1:18-31).” - XJW4EVR
I don’t claim to be smarter that the next person, and never said that Christians are a bunch of idiots, but I am glad that you quoted 1 Cor. 1:18-31.
1 Cor. 1:19 read that wisdom is not a good thing, but Proverbs 4:7 read: “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.”
1 Cor. 1:21 read that it pleases god to be foolish, but Psalm 5:5 read: “The foolish shall not stand in thy sight” and Ephesians 5:15 read: “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise.”
1 Cor. 1:27 read that god use the foolish things of the word to confuse the wise, but 1 Cor. 14:33 read: “god it’s not the author of confusion.”
“Just because these horrid activities are recorded in the Bible doesn't mean that it is given a wink by God.” - XJW4EVR
2 Timothy 3:15–17
With all due respect, do I get to pick and choose with word is inspired by god and with word is not. Can I say that 1 John 3:11 is not inspired, but it’s safe to say that Luke 14:26, Matthew 10:34, Matthew 10:21 are inspired? How does this work?
Take care,

“So tell me, Mad Giant, do you know what the Christian response to these supposed contradictions? Just curious.” - XJW4EVR
If you click a contradiction, it will send you to a table that compares the verses. A couple of them have an external link at the bottom of the table. The links will send you to an external response.
Personally, the responses posted by the Christian sources are kind of crappy. Here is an example:
http://www.lookinguntojesus.net/ata20040606.htm
Should we believe all things?
1 Corinthians 13:7 says we should, but Proverbs 14:15 and 1 Thessalonians 5:21 say we should only believe that which evidence warrants belief in. Is there a contradiction?
RESPONSE:
Certainly, it is prudent for us to test things and to weigh the evidence of the things we are asked to believe. This is the idea presented in both Proverbs 14:15 and 1 Thessalonians 5:21. However, I suggest that the words of Paul in 1 Corinthians 13:7 do not contradict this, but rather deal with a different aspect of believing.
Paul is certainly not telling the Corinthians to be gullible people, for he clearly told the Thessalonians that they should test all things and cling to that which was good. It must be remembered that in context, Paul is personifying love. Among the characteristics which can be found in love is a propensity to trust. Love does not approach things with suspicion. If something can, in good conscience be believed, then it ought to be believed. It is not a characteristic of love to manifest distrust in others.
There is no contradiction. Are you satisfied with this answer? I am not.
"By the way, this list is just as sophomoric as the previous list." - XJW4EVR
I am really sorry that you just see a dull list. I see a pattern.
For those who believe that every syllable in the bible is from god’s mouth.
The book is written by an omniscient being that is suppose to leave you with a sense of wonder. If you are reading a book written by the all-powerful, all-knowing, all-loving creator of the universe, wouldn't you expect to be stunned by the brilliance, the clarity and the wisdom of the author?
Yet, when we open the Bible and actually read it, this is what you’ll find:
Verses descriptive or advocating suicide, incest, bestiality, sexual activity in a violent context, murder, revenge, contradictions and human rights violations. That may cause delusions hallucinations, decreased cognitive and objective reasoning abilities, hatred; bigotry and violence.
Of course, this is only my opinion.
Take care,
Ismael

"I have a question, has human understanding of physics changed over the years?"
Yes, as you state, human understanding have change over the years. But in my opinion the real meaning of the law still in place. In 1687 Newton’s law of universal gravity define gravity as differently of what Einstein thought in 1915.Although Newton's theory has been superseded, most modern non-relativistic gravitational calculations are still made using Newton's theory because it is a much simpler theory to work with than general relativity, and gives sufficiently accurate results for most applications.
"Has anything thought to be irrevocable been adjusted?"
Yes, always, and that is part of the learning process. The earth was the center of the universe, the earth was flat, the milky way was the entire universe.

The Sun is made of hydrogen and helium, surface temperature is approximately 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit. The Sun generates energy (and light) converting 700,000,000 tons of hydrogen in 695,000,000 tons of helium each second.
Eventually the sun is going to use carbon as fuel, then is going to use heavier and heavier elements, to
For believers, god can do anything. Even gods have to obey the laws of physics. You can't refuel a star.
