i think that there are also people from other countries who will be quite intereseted in ex-jws but maybe internet is not that accessible as compared to the countries you've mentioned....with regard your question, i think that there's this longing for truth and happiness which most people thought could be found in religion that's why there's a tendency to be hung up on religion (like me). we want to have specific answers for questions that could not really be answered......

faith in a community
by gotcha inis it possible to exercise your faith without joining a religion?...i asked the same question to my professor in theology and her response was...as human beings we have this nature of being social so it's always in a community that you could exercise your faith..there's not such a thing as "individualistic" faith because it is within a community that your faith can grow...what do u think?
thanks.

thanks for your replies..i haven't checked this forum coz i was so busy with school stuff...it's true what you guys said but faith because it is personal yet social..i think it is a personal decision and one that comes from the heart when u choose to believe and hold on to that something. but also since we are social beings sometimes we can show our faith in the things we do, not only by going to church but also by helping others....but it seems to me that after growing out of that ethical and moral aspect of faith there's also this calling for a sense of responsibility to fulfill our christian obligations...but......obligations in a sense that we don't feel forced to go to church but because we want to.......hmm it's really so hard to grow out of the christian tradition because ..even before my mom became a jw we were always going to mass and studying in a catholic school all my life has in a way influenced my beliefs...the thing is..i really find sense in going to church/temple/place of worship coz i feel that for all the things that God has given us it's like a gesture of thankfulness in our part. although i believe that you could show thanks in other ways i feel the need to go to some place of worship...but i do think that 3x a wk is a bit too much...peacee...

thanks for the reply =)..i'm inclined to think so too because i would want to live a good life apart from any religion. i think that even if religion's purpose is to make better people...they always fail because they tend to go overboard (dogmatism) and those who say that they have faith but live lousy lives (practical atheism)...but i also agree with my teacher in a way, because it is in a community that you could grow...just for simple reasons like having a sense of community and a sense of the "other". ahhh and here.. for example i decide in the future not to attend meetings (because i still do attend), i think that i would still want to go to a church to pray and to give thanks (although i know that i could do this even if im not in the church)..maybe the way that i was brought up makes me feel that way.
