My advice, (as immature as it is) is sit back in your favorite chair, and crank up Rage against the machines "killing in the name of". The last 40 secs wash over you like a warm shower. Im always happier with any decision I make when I remember its my birth right to make it.

As of tomorrow I will no longer be a JW
by passwordprotected inafter my last post where i asked for advice on how to handle whether i should tell an elder that we've been going to church, i decided to tell a local elder who's related to me through marriage.
this was to save my dad having to 'report' me (i'd told my dad we go to church).
anyway, i had an interesting chat with him and he said some very personally revealing things re.

Mickey, Im afraid I will have to steer you to http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/165229/1.ashx It would appear new light has sprung forth with greater clarity than I can deliver. Still, between my post and the other, almost 30000 people have been enlightened, not bad in my opinion.

Witness fear of demons why?
by donny induring my ten year sojourn through the watchtower, i was always amazed at the witnesses fear and fascination with demons.
occasionally at gatherings, they would exchange "demon" stories, which were just a jw way of telling ghost stories, and you would usually hear a few "uhhs" and "oh my's" as the story was told.
although i had heard folks of other denominations mention demons, it was never with the "shock and awe" the witnesses put into it.

They fear demons because they that realise fear is a great motivator and control mechanism.
No Hell? Lets replace it with Armageddon and the constant threat of demonic attack.
I was brought up to believe that if you took a step outside the org, a demon was waiting there to attack you and throw you around the room.
I confronted my fear. Had alot of fun doing it! -

considering we get one gold medal at the olympics per1,186 population and the us gets only 1 gold per 8,487, we are use to coming in on top of the us but this is one comp we dont want to win.

OK, I have heard more.
1. CO's are going for sure. Responsible elders will be assigned a congregation to serve a Friday to Sunday. Friday night is mid week meeting, Saturday is field service then elders meeting, pioneer meeting. Sunday as usual. Half the reason why sunday meeting are shorter and book study dropped is to support this new arrangement.
2. Lösch is trying to become the new charismatic leader and challenging Jaracz more and more, he thinks the WT of the early 90's on education was the work of apostates and led to the major decrease in growth, Barr is the onlyl one really standing up to him. -

Changes in Elder arrangement?
by metatron inthere are continuing rumors about changes that are going to be made in the elder arrangement.
while these are still only rumors, i wish .
to repeat that the society must be under pressure to make legally motivated changes to the elder structure.. first, the appointment of elders seems to be much more direct than the appointment of most priests or pastors in common religions.. that might be a problem leading directly to the governing body.. more than that, there is a clearly defined hierarchy going up from local elders thru the c.o.

I started a thread a while ago that has had thousands of hits regarding the changes to the 'org'.
Anyone that has been in the org for any length of time will notice that they take two paths when making changes, they either bomb you with sensational headlines, or they sneak things in via a whisper campaign lead by thge CO's backed up by talks at conventions, then touched on in the Watchtower.
I think we are seeing the second process with the elder arrangement.
In one of the script talks at last years DC they said " there is no ladder in Jehovahs organisation" and " wives, dont put pressure on your husbands to get position".
This is being backed up by the CO's visit which is all about who to appoint and how the society doesnt want to quote "pen pushers in positions of oversight".
So we see the whisper campaign in full force.
This will lead to a talk showing how some elders have not treated their appointment correctly and that as a result of human imperfection and pride, the arrangements are to be changed.
You can take that to the bank!
