It was not a high. It was a shock. It made me question what else do I believe that is totally wrong.

Do you miss that initial "high" ??
by stuckinarut2 indo you remember the first time you found out "the truth about the truth"?.
yes, it was confronting, shocking and life altering.
yes it was hard to deal with.. but, along with that, many have said that they experienced a sense of thrill, euphoria, or joy when realising the facts about the religion that held us captive mentally and physically for so long.. it was liberating to learn some of the controversial teachings etc.

The first scripture my mother made me learn was Gen. 3:15 which she said is the whole story of the Bible in one scripture.

WT rules about forgiving a cheating mate
by Addison0998 ini hate the rule about if your mate cheats on you, and you have sex with them, you are not free to remarry because the sex means you forgave them and keeps you stuck with them!
i personally disagree and think it’s so controlling that they think they can dictate what goes on behind closed doors between two consenting, legally married married people.
and that they think they have the right to label what other people’s sex means.

It's weird that they don't inform you of this in their canned wedding talks. (Do they still say if your husband has sex with men....it's not adultery because there is no chance of pregnancy?)

So, I am having lunch with a group of women with varying backgrounds. I asked the circle how many believed in the story of Adam and Eve and the snake. No one believed it literally. An allegory. Stolen story from older religions. I remarked that I realized I no longer believed in it and therefor no longer believed in the Ransom Sacrifice of Christ. Not one of them had ever heard the term Ransom in connection with Christ. I was pretty shocked. So Ransom is a JW thing?

After leaving the JWs - Has anyone stayed with Christianity?
by rulehayl ini recently made the decision to stop studying with my study conductor, due to a situation i found myself in that led to a high possibility of my unbaptized publisher "rights" being taken away from me.
i have since told my study conductor i have joined a new church (to which she dropped me like a hot rock, of course).... last time i posted on here, i was progressing nicely towards baptism, and was well into it.anyhoo, i like my new church, very hillsong-esqe.
so just wondering if anyone else has stayed the course of christianity after leaving the jws, and if so - where did you go?

Was a born in. left in my late 40s early 50s. Could not abide by churches with dogma and doctrines. I have found Unitarian Universalist a pretty good fit. I love their community outreach and their activism. The people are, on the whole, educated and well read. They just want a better earth....now.

I had a vocal coach who was a Unitarian Universalist. She was one of the best human beings I have ever met. I started attending the UUs and really like it. It is not identified as Christian but rather allows people to choose from their own experiences and studies to have a personal belief system. They are very involved in the community. After the Haiti earthquake they helped build a self sustaining village there. They are very active in climate change and building centers where homeless can get warm, wash clothes, take showers. It is so refreshing after the JWs do nothing for anybody except the borg.

I am now a UU. What an experience to be in a congregation where you are actively involved instead of controlled by some men in NY. I also have found a couple of ex JW groups. One on meet up. One online. Meeting lots of people like myself. It is good to belong....even though damaged....

So, I went to the memorial service of a man I have known since childhood...
by Captain Schmideo2 ini have been on a fade for years, so this is the first time i have been in a kh for months.the deceased was barely 52 when he died.
from cancer.
one year younger than me.the memorial was the standard "read the obituary column word for word, then do the jw commercial for 25 minutes" plus a new twist (to me), they played a video called "around the corner" https://youtu.be/tfccoyp0vsu.

This is what is the crux of JW blindness. They are taught that reality is not reality; They live for nothing everyday because their men in New York keep repeating the lie....millions now living will never die.....you will never get old.....all the while, they age, their loved ones die, they live a pretty miserable life but they ignore all those symptoms. They suffer because their minds are stuck in a man made groove of impossible. they keep buying those worthless lottery tickets that the borg enjoys the use of the money but the people get and will never get anything because it is a huge fraud.
