DEMAND THE RESIGNATION OF THE GOVERNING BODY

in view of the breathtaking mistakes made by the governing body in the last 10 years, the time has come for all with influence in or out of the organization of jehovah's witnesses to ask for the resignation of the entire governing body.

<br>in the past 5 years alone, we have seen the defacto president of the watchtower society, theodore jarascz, dismiss reporters from the bbc without addressing their questions about sex abuse; they have denied repeatedly that there is a problem in the 2 witness to sex abuse policy; they have arranged the excommunication of whistleblowers in the organization, implying that they are spiritually deficient or worse.

<br>thousands of members of this fellowship have been sexually abused by family or friends in the group, only to be told that it didn't happen, that they misunderstood it, and if they could not produce a second witness or the accused confessed, they were told that they must be silent or face shunning.

I don't think it's possible to demand the resignation of the governing body. What happens is they will just throw you out of the organization if you try. That's why no one from within is going to be able to ruin the members of the Governing Body; nor are they going to listen. They are not answerable to the members--they will just disfellowship any who do try to have them removed.

Better to embarrass them. They have a major problem with pedophiles, and all it would take is enough people to blow the whistle. This is not that easy, since they disfellowship anyone who does, and they have been known to issue court gag orders on people for blowing the whistle. The victims of this, and other, abuse are gagged. And www.silentlambs.org is off limits to the members of the congregation. I don't think the Governing Body is going to listen to an "apostate" and quit.

Absolutely the only way to remove them is to cut off their funding. People should boycott donations to any of their functions, permanently. Also they should boycott the meetings and service. If this happens, there will be no money for them to operate. And they would talk to the empty Kingdumb Hell or A$$embly Hell. That is discouraging to speakers, who would be less likely to accept future assignments if they are going to keep getting boycotted. Plus, if we all boycott service, no one is going to come in. Without new recruits, the money is going to run out, and they will go belly-up. They can only live so long on their assets, and those will get eaten by the lawsuits that they have pending.

No, we cannot hope to have the Governing Body impeached. There is no system within the organization for that. But, if everyone boycotts the meetings and donations (and service), the whole organization will collapse. Without money, Kingdumb Hells get foreclosed on. Without money, they cannot hold a$$emblies. They will gripe that they are running a deficit. Then people will say #%@$ it; let them run a deficit. Let them go belly-up. Once that happens, the Tower won't have a leg to stand on, and it will come down. And the Governing Body will be fired without anywhere else to hide behind.

bad things do happen for a reason.

here is the reason.. for bad things not to happen only good things would always be happening.. then, "good" would lose relative distinction with less "good".

the less good would start to look bad in comparison.. suddenly, what use to seem only good would be bad by contrast.. is this crazy talk?.

Hopefully this doesn't mean that we are doomed to see 7 million Witlesses. That would be horrible. The worst would be to see the 2007 service year report with something like 7.5 million Witlesses and huge waiting lists for studies, with every publisher having 40 of 50 studies. And for sure I would not like that one bit.

I hope for the best: having the Tower come crashing down. I would like to see the 2007 report come out with nothing but zeros in all columns. Short of that, I would like to see negative growth in every single country including Nigeria. Realistically, I am expecting to see more of the same. I look for something between 6.8 and 7.2 million peak for the 2007 service year.

For those 6.8-7.2 million members, things are going to look a lot worse than for those who still have their freedom. Like money, freedom could be relative. We look at the regulators in this country, and complain. Then we see the rules that are present at the Watchtower Society and see what tyranny actually is like.

i have heard about all the money that the watchtower society stands to make on all its real estate holdings.

and that's bad news.

with donations going down and lawsuits going up, and the need in nigeria, they are going to need all the money from the real estate that they can get.. there is good news to this, though it may come with a price if you are selling a house.

S***. I was hoping for them to take a bath on some of their real estate holdings. That would be on top of the bath that they will hopefully take soon on those lawsuits and another bath on losing members and their donations, just when Nigeria needs the funds the most.

Besides this, you might wish to check out the links on this forum. There is a subcategory for links near the announcements, and about 25 additional links. They are all worth checking out. Some may even have other links to other discussion boards.

One thing about other boards: Please make sure you are familiar with the rules and styles on those boards before joining. If you join a pro-JW board without realizing it, you could find yourself wasting a lot of time defending your posts against other posters (not to mention having them removed). It pays to lurk for a while before posting.

This forum using same type of thinking as Jehovahs Witnesses?

i notice one of the biggest complaints around here about the organization is often related to their constant use of the "us versus them" mentality, (i.e.

"we" need to be seperate from "them" because "they" are wrong and "we" are right).

yet i also notice that many of the posters here use the exact same kind of rhetoric and thinking.

This board actually encourages people to think on their own about religion. We are free to choose to join another church, drop out of religion, worship Satan, become agnostic, or even stay in the Watchtower Society according to what we choose as individuals. No one here is forced to accept anyone's beliefs. (That is where discussion happens. One person disagrees with another but still wishes to have a civil discussion about it. This is how truth is found, and how others may form viable opinions).

The Watchtower Society, on the other hand, forces its members to go along with their doctrines no matter what. Disagree, even on a civil level, and you get disfellowshipped for apostasy. And they make it difficult for anyone to leave. You miss a few meetings, and you get hounded. For sure not like these boards.

If you go to the site http://members.aol.com/Beyondjw/bj.htm , you will find a whole site full of good information about the Watchtower Society. It is a bit older than Six Screens of the Watchtower, but it provides some fine information. Great reading. There is a list of about 18 forums and discussion boards there that you can link onto from that site, along with many facts about the Watchtower. That was the first apostate site I visited.

children in the jehovah's witness religion really have it hard.

to compare, look at other churches.

most of them have sunday school, and this is geared to children that are not able to really comprehend the deeper things.

As I see it, there is no worse form of child abuse than killing the child's ability to create value. And making them sit for hours on end with a spanking or worse threatening if they do anything is a sure way to do that. Besides, sexual abuse affects only a percentage of children, but this killing off of the spirit affects every single one of them. Both are bad, and both occur in the organization.

JW converts - what percentage fall away?

i got into a discussion today at lunch with someone who years ago 'flirted' with becoming a jw (then 1975 came and went).

i've never been a dub, but what i've gather from this board there are those raised in the religion who after 30-40 years leave for whatever reason.

what percentage of those not raised in the religion, but are converted, become disillusioned and finally leave?

Not enough. I, for one, came in through a cold call. I took and studied the Suffer Forever book with nothing to compare it with. Then I stayed in, giving token service, for a time to give them a fair chance. They blew that handily, and I faded out to make them waste time worrying about me.

I would like to see every single one of them drop out even before becoming umbaptized publishers. That way, they would waste time studying and developing them, only to have them turn apostate even before becoming publishers. I had the good fortune of doing this to one would-be publisher who was studying, only to recommend www.sixscreensofhtewatchtower.com . That blew that study. Maybe if more people would look at that and other similar sites, and more sites like this one come online, more would leave the Tower.

One that I have frequently seen advertised on this forum is Thom's chat board. That is another ex-JW discussion board. The board is a bit edgier than this one, but they do a decent job in keeping the forum under control.

Another one is [removed]. That site is totally unmoderated, and basically anything goes (however, I would not press my luck with such things as spreading terror threats, kiddy porn, and other illegal activity). That is a great place if you love getting into a heated brawl. If you just like to discuss the Watchtower topics in a civil manner, then you're on your own.

There are many other boards out there.

There is good news to this, though it may come with a price if you are selling a house. Real estate prices in many areas, including New York City, are on the way down. Why? They had a bubble of sub-prime mortgages lately, and many of those are getting hit with spikes in interest rates and payments. This will lead to defaults and foreclosures. Those foreclosures are going to flood the market with real estate, and therefore driving down prices. Hopefully the Watchtower Society is hit very hard by this.

I would like to hear them taking a bath for $60 million because of a slow sale of a $80 million property. Hopefully some of their profits will be eaten by a nice bear market in their assets. Hopefully this will happen at the same time they are hit with all the lawsuits, and that it will force them to delay even more on selling the property and giving it time to go down even more. That will force them to push back plans to invade Nigeria (where they have more than 450,000 Bible studies and a higher probability per study of getting a new publisher) or China (where they could easily get another 3 or 4 million drones). At this point, we apostates strike. Hopefully www.sixscreensofthewatchtower.com has enough servers to deal with the hit that it should make on that site.
