WT Society Makes Light of Child Abuse Crimes by Portraying them as Cartoons

i commented on this on another thread- but i believe this has enough importance to create a thread about this situation in and of itself.

at the current district convention as you know the wt society released a " sophie & caleb " video allegedly warning parents about the dangers of child abuse.

they don't really use the words " child abuse " in the video - but just say if " someone tries to touch you in a manner you aren't comfortable with " and portray it as a cartoon !

PISTOFF- Yeah, it's like the WT leaders are making a " perfunctory " video about child abuse just to say they did something about it.

BAFH- No, they don't say anything in the video about perpetrators possibly being anybody you know like - elders, ministerial servants, or even parents themselves ! The video makes it seem like the threat would always come from the OUTSIDE of " God's " alleged organization. Pretty creepy.

LIFE IS TOO SHORT- You bring up some VERY important points. It usually IS the ministerial servant that everybody trusts and thinks is squeaky clean that ends up being the child molester. I mean- look at Don McClean one of America's FBI's most wanted list the horrific JW molester who is on the run. He was portrayed as squeaky clean, good with young ones taking them camping - then BAM ! All the child abuses he did came tumbling out of the closet. So JW parents are TAUGHT to be naïve and gullible- way too trusting inside the congregations. And as you stated the WT uses guilt to make these children give in like " don't make Jehovah's heart sad " and all that crap. How is a conscience of a 3 year old supposed to protect against an adult child molester who is manipulating a child ? WT leaders ARE insane.

PROBLEMADDICT 2- I think the main problem a lot of people here and elsewhere have with this video is the guilt inducing parents telling the children to " use their conscience " . How in the hell are children supposed to " use their conscience " when they are being sexually assaulted even violently ? And I have a problem in general with the minimizing of the child abuse issue by putting some freaky unknown monster running around in it- as compared to using REAL humans with REAL criminal actions taking place. This video does more harm than good. It doesn't warn parents OR children that sexual abuse comes usually from people they know- not some stranger. So how is that supposed to help them put their guard up in the kingdom halls or congregations ?

BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS- My thoughts exactly. How in the hell is a kid supposed to use a conscience when they are being raped ? I mean, like you say conscience has nothing to do with it- criminal assault has EVERYTHING to do with it. Your point about someone needing to get this to the media I TOTALLY agree with. It needs to be brought out. Send a link to the video to the media someone !

FINKELSTEIN- The WT Society does cling to ancient rules that are archaic- but not useful in any way, shape, or form. And the " obedience " thing to the WT Society has totally taken the place of any obedience to " God " or a supreme alleged entity.

STRONG HAIKU- Good points. I think a lot of JW's go through cognizant dissonance trying to figure out why some JW's die in typhoons or get raped- yet they think other JW's get " protected " from Jehovah from these things. In time you would think that they could just see that it's all just random shit that happens . Random occurrences that occur with no explanations for except being terrible circumstances. If there is a God and this stuff happens he is either dead, asleep at the wheel- or he has never existed " God " is just a concept that man has made to help them deal or explain their own pain. That's what John Lennon said- and I tend to agree with him.

NAOSCILLATOR- I agree common sense and intuition are much better to use to ward off problems and crimes than guilt. Young people don't need to be made to feel guilty when they are fighting off a rape or fighting for their lives.

CADELLIN- My wife thinks that the WT Society is trying to make the victims feel guilty so that they won't sue the WT Society. Trying to intimidate victims by guilt to " fight " off or report child molesters. This blame the victim strategy the WT Society has will only backfire on them though. Any parent with half an acorn of sense should see this for what it is- intimidation through guilt.

LISTENER- Thanks for re-printing Barb Moor's post from Cedars blog. That is EXACTLY on the money ! She nailed every important point regarding this farce of a cartoon on child abuse. The psychological damage that occurs to child abuse victims due to hiding child abuse within congregations is beyond damaging to them- it is criminal to allow it to happen. And THAT is what the leaders of this WT organization are: pure and simple CRIMINALS. With criminal intent to protect their financial holdings at the cost of thousands of child abuse victims lives within the JW organization. The GB should be locked up in prison and the key thrown away.

PUNKOFNICE- I agree with you that there HAVE been and possibly ARE child molesters among the GB and other high ranking WT officials. Otherwise they would just tell elders to go directly to the police with child abuse cases. We do know that Greenlees and Chitty were sent away from Bethel for sexual crimes and it was called being " sent on special assignment " and there was quite a bit of evidence that Ted Jaracz had molested children through the years as well. So I think your theory has a lot of merit indeed. Jaracz fought tooth and nail to not let the writing committee print the early 1990's articles against child abuse. He and then GB member Lloyd Barry had no love for each other- but Barry prevailed and got the articles printed in spite of Jaracz's aggression. I know of these things from reliable sources

FAST JEHU- Good point you make about making this molester in the video being somebody the child would know- not some fictitious Tasmanian Devil from Warner brothers. I mean what good does it do ? As you stated most children are molested from someone they thought they could trust- so the way the WT Society portrays it is SO unrealistic and useless in teaching children the reality of the dangers.

I think due to all of the bad media publicity and JW's finally WATCHING this on network television about WT child abuse it has JW's talking among themselves and the WT leaders were FORCED to add this to their assembly program. It's like they are trying to stop an avalanche before it happens- but message to the GB - It's too late. The avalanche is halfway down the mountain gaining momentum. It's what the GB deserves.

THE DOCTOR 10- You are right- the WT leaders are SO disconnected from reality it's not funny. But it's what they get for being so arrogant. A tidal wave of child abuse lawsuits.

ESSE- Yeah brother elder, ministerial servant , so many child molesters within the organization- it could be anybody there. Why it needs to be stopped and exposed.

July Broadcast Denies That JW Children Die Rather Than Have Medical Care

anthony morris 3rd delivered the broadcast this month and advised that lies are circulated that they let children die rather than have medical care .

he says this is so inaccurate as to be a boldfaced lie ...... further he says it is "up to the parents to determine what would be the best treatment for their children" .

now, does this mean that parents are really free to make a decision to accept blood for their minor child, if they so choose?

Come on- be serious- the WT leaders lie CONSTANTLY - ALL THE TIME. There is no " paradise ", there is no " Armageddon ", there ARE JW children and adults who die due to the WT Society's no blood transfusion policy, WT Society DOES cover up child abuse and protects child molesters in spite of their claims that they protect children. I mean- what, if ANY part of this WT or JW organization is NOT all lies ? It's all bullshit

Good thread. Thanks for posting. This whole Anthony Morris rant about child abuse is total damage control based on what has come out in news media against the WT organization regarding child abuse allegations. The PBS Newshour and ABC News Nightline news presentations this spring did indeed do some incredible damage to the WT Society or Anthony Morris wouldn't be addressing the problem for 10 minutes in his presentation.

So by backpedaling now claiming that since 1982 they had a " landmark " Awake magazine on the subject ( describing it as " landmark " is a bit dramatic and overkill ) he claims WT leaders have always been making it a " top priority " to protect children- which is a lie . Behind the scenes WT Society has been HIDING child abuse and have disfellowshipped victims of child abuse for bringing accusations against molesters within congregations ! He doesn't mention THAT on the JW.org show- does he ? It's called " information control " to save the WT Society's ass is what that is called. Disgusting. OUBLIETTE- I agree that it's important to educate children to " say " No ! " to anything that make them uncomfortable and to tell their parents about it " . Yes- I'm on the same page with you there. Bit I do not agree that using a cartoon format with blobby looking characters running around in fictitious settings in animated form does one bit of good in driving home the REALITY and DANGER of child abuse to either children OR adults. It minimizes or trivializes the dangers.

Of course you and I both realize and know from having been long time JW's at one time that Anthony Morris and the rest of the GB aren't going to admit errors or mistakes they have made regarding ANY child abuse issues within the JW organization. These men just don't apologize or even ADMIT that there's a child abuse problem within the WT organization. Too much arrogance within them. They will never admit it. I mean Stephen Lett in May thought it was "crazy " that people accuse the WT Society of being " soft " on child abuse. He said, " Can you imagine that " ? These WT leaders will never admit fault - ever.

I agree with you that elders should be required to be mandated reporters and turn these child abuse issues over to people that are properly trained to deal with it. That is what SHOULD happen. But it won't. Because the GB thinks it knows better than any " worldly " authority dealing with ANY problem. Too much arrogance, too much pride, and too many dark secrets to be revealed if they allow " worldly " authorities inside their good sized " pedophile protection " program and computer records that are kept under lock and key. That is what we are facing here with the WT leaders

And the CARTOON portrayal is what has my blood boiling here. They portray the molester as some kind of a half ass blob that looks like the Tasmanian Devil from the Warner Brother cartoons. Then they show him reaching his hand out to the children in the video going " ohhgh,ahh " with his hand grabbing for them. I mean it's a freaking joke. It's like the JW children will think it's some kind of entertaining fictitious horror film that they can make light of and joke about. Get real GB ! Jesus.

If the WT Society was REALLY serious about warning parents about the REAL dangers of crimes like child abuse they would use real humans as real actors in a REAL portrayal of what really happens when a pedophile or child molester threatens a child. A portrayal like that would be real where it would show the seriousness of the danger of REAL child abuse and portray it as the crime it is- not some half ass cartoon. Like threatening to do harm to the child's parents if the victim doesn't keep quiet- something that really happens- not a blob running around that threatens kids that looks like some kind of Jabba the hut . The WT Society is TOTALLY minimizing the REAL danger of criminal child abuse- almost making a joke out of it by showing it in cartoon form !

I mean - think about it- here you have a billion $$$ organization that has had countless child abuse lawsuits brought against it and they've paid out millions $$$ in damages to JW child victims - and the best they can do is come up with a fictitious cartoon that portrays child molesters as the Tasmanian freaking Devil from Warner brothers ? I mean- young children will probably find it entertaining - but real adults should be appalled at the minimizing of such a serious crime in society and how it is being displayed here. It shows me that WT leaders look at child abuse as some kind of a joke as well- they don't take it seriously and to show it in animated form as they do is almost a slap in the face of ALL victims of child abuse.

Now I am even MORE motivated to share News printouts of WT child abuse scandals with JW cart people in my hometown. WT leaders, these bastards need to have some REAL put into their reality. And so do their JW members. Spread the word. How do you feel about this ? Look forward to your comments

This " Sophie & Caleb " video the WT has released at this assembly allegedly addressing child abuse is probably the most juvenile, stupid, ridiculous thing I've seen them do yet.

I mean, let's be real here. First off- it TOTALLY minimizes the REAL dangers of child abuse by portraying a cartoon, animated child abuser as some kind of a fictitious Warner Brothers Tasmanian Devil running around who looks like a blob going " ooohgh, ahhh " with an outreached hand to grab the kids ! What the hell is THAT supposed to be ?

If the WT Society was REALLY serious about warning parents about child abusers among them they'd get REAL humans as REAL actors in a REAL portrayal of what happens in actual child abuse threatening situations and show how real human pedophiles ( not cartoon monsters ) threaten children and even show them threatening to harm their parents if the child said something about the abuse. THAT would be real where the impact of the REAL seriousness of this child abuse crime would be driven home. But by using cartoon characters this is just so destructive and minimizes or makes a joke really out of a VERY serious crime. Shame on the WT Society. Shame on the GB. A criminal organization making light of a very serious crime

This is nothing but BS damage control by Morris as ordered by the WT legal department most probably. The Caleb " fictitious monster " child abuse video is nothing but damage control as well. I mean WHY call a potential child molester a " fictitious monster " - why not just call this person what he is in the video - a child molester ? I swear to god- it's like Morris and these videos treat these cult mind controlled JW's like they are BABIES still sucking their mommies ninnies !

I mean come on ! If you GB members are going to treat each and every JW like babies, hand out pacifiers as they enter the district convention grounds for Christ's sakes ! All this is - is a criminal organization trying to cover it's own legal ass by claiming they had a " landmark " article in the Awake back in 1982 so therefore as Morris said, " we have been actively making people aware of the dangers " for all those years. Yeah, right. While on the other side of the coin you've been actively concealing and hiding child abuse happening towards minor children all these years.

This REALLY motivates me to go out and talk to more of the JW cart people in my little town with my WT child abuse Candace Conti news printouts. Morris is a bold faced liar. And he knows it. You can see it on his face

A difficult yet necessary decision

the past five weeks have been perhaps the most painful in my life as a witness.. some months ago a young man (i'd say in his late thirties or early forties) began attending meetings at my kingdom hall.

he had just moved to my area from another state.

he had disassociated himself from his home congregation many years back, when he was 20 years old and going through many of the typical trials and temptations most young men experience.. two of the elders met with him initially, and they later shared the details with the body of elders.

BROTHER JERAMY - Apology accepted. Don't sweat it. Anything you said before the scales fell from your eyes had nothing to do with reality - and everything to do with the WT cult mind control you were under the influence from. We've all been there. I was born and raised in the JW organization just like you - in from birth until age 44 - when I exited 12 years ago. It truly is a life changing experience to realize the truth about the alleged "truth" and it takes some time to adjust to a new life where freedom of mind is yours to be cherished and to realize that we CAN trust our instincts. Congratulations on trusting your instincts and intuition regarding your young friend being unjustly treated. He's lucky to have a friend like you. Take care, Peace out, Mr. Flipper

i know being a witness for 33 years and not celebrating b/days you do lose the habit , but i thought one of them would have remembered ?

oh well .. maybe i will just rub it in with them tomorrow .make them feel guilty , eh ?.

then again i might just start singing "76 trombones" at the dinner table tonight .
