Yeah I don't use the expression " Bible trained conscience " when I talk to these people, because my conscience is on a much higher plane than someone with a " Bible trained conscience" - my conscience is more ethical and moral

How to "turn the tables" on still-in witness who pry about our status.
by stuckinarut2 inso many of us have had (perhaps well-meaning) jws ask us questions about our inactivity, or lack of attendance at meetings.
they may pry about why..... how is this for a simple, yet straight to the point response?
to a sincere person, it may play on their mind and make them ask more questions.

Good thread Stuckinarut
I had an experience way back in 2007 a few years after I exited the JW cult. I was in a store shopping and a JW lady and her adult daughter whom I had not seen in about 12 years confronted me when we saw each other in an aisle.
JW Lady : " Hi Flipper how are you doing ? "
Flipper : " Doing well , how are you both doing ? "
JW Lady : " So when are you coming back to the truth ? "
Flipper : " I AM in the truth ! I'm a very truthful person, honest, and the truth is within me. "
JW Lady : ( With a sarcastic smile on her face ) " You know what I mean . When are you coming back to meetings ? "
Flipper : " Well, I respect that you feel you are doing what you feel is right going to meetings, however - my conscience won't let me attend anymore due to the WT Society's child abuse policies. JW children are being abused and the police are not called and pedophiles are not brought to justice by the police. "
JW Lady : " Flipper, you know that the worldly news tells lies about Jehovah's people all the time, you cannot believe it. "
Flipper : " Well hey, I'm sure the news media doesn't just make this stuff up about Catholics and Mormon child abuse . Why would they print fake stuff up about Jehovah's Witnesses ? "
JW Lady : ( Stammers a bit ) " Well you need to get back to the meetings ! "
Flipper : " I'm doing fine and well as I am , thanks. I appreciate your concern, you both have a great day. "
And with that I walked off leaving them holding their tongues in their mouth.
Peace out, Mr. Flipper

What Is The Most Ridiculous Thing You Have Heard From A Witness?
by minimus ini remember an elder questioning a woman who had admitted to giving and receiving oral sex from her unbelieving mate.
he asked her the most intimate questions which clearly flustered her.
interestingly, she “confessed “ to the elders because her conscience bothered her.

Most everything they say is ridiculous, said out of fear, extremely paranoid and superstitious - so it's hard to choose just one thing

April 2018 Broadcast - normal weird stuff
by Listener inwe hear a story regarding the life of thomas and emma.
she states that "when thomas and i first learnt that i was pregnant, we were both really shocked" she doesn't explain why they were both really shocked but it seems an odd reaction unless they were using the safest contraception invented or hadn't been told about the bird and the bees.two experiences that touched the heart of gb sanderson were as follows -.
in russia a jw was jailed for 6 months, the jailers did everything to try to undermine his faith, which included violence.

As some of you mentioned here - JW's are taught and indoctrinated to be totally afraid of the real world. Due to WT indoctrination they are totally alienated from the real world and fearful of becoming too involved in it. They're told lies about how " evil " or " bad " non-JW's are ; when in reality there are MANY great people on this planet , many of them make much better friends than we had inside the JW cult.
Some exiting JW people become the WT Society's own self fulfilling prophecy. What I mean is if you are told enough times that " bad, terrible things " are going to happen to you once you leave the cult - then you are already leaning that way, or conditioned to think that only bad will happen if you leave the JW cult. Just like a teenager who gets told by abusive parents that " you're no good '' or " you never do anything right " , the teenager goes out and becomes as bad as the parents say because his failure is their prediction. So he lives up to the low expectations set by abusive parents. I think it's like that in the JW cult. It's like the book The Peter Principle where everybody rises to their own level of incompetence . It's predicted to happen from people's superiors, then they help it happen.
Doesn't have to be that way though. So many exiting JW's go back to the cult because they do not educate themselves about cult mind control. Even being disfellowshipped they are not aware that they were " mind controlled " and so never lose their belief system of the WT Society indoctrination as their brain neurotransmitters are only trained to think in " JW speak " . So then, they return back to the cult rinsing and repeating the cult abuse that happens to them. Kind of the way I see this. Unless a person totally loses the JW cult thinking- they are in danger of returning to familiar religious abuse

LIZD- Kudos to you for doing the right thing, the ethical thing, the law abiding thing in protecting those children. You are a hero and I'm so sorry that you experienced these abuses growing up. This world needs more people like you who will stand up and protect children. Good for you, take care, Mr. Flipper

Has this quote on hatred been true in your experience with JW's?
by Wasanelder Once ini came upon this quote relating to the results of hatred: .
"i imagine one of the reasons people cling to their hates so stubbornly is because they sense, once hate is gone, they will be forced to deal with pain.
has your hatred of the organization been an effort to avoid dealing with your pain?

WAS- Great thread, very good and interesting points you make and others are making here. Having been born and raised in the JW cult since birth and exiting 15 years ago at age 44 I think I can offer a perspective.
As far as us ex-JW's having anger - I believe that our anger is justified. I'm not saying to be crazy with anger or go nuts losing our balance in life- however we were duped by an unscrupulous, manipulative group of men running the WT Society and wasted many years of our life for a pipe dream. That's bound to bring some anger into our lives , and depending on how deeply that anger and sadness is affecting our enjoyment of life- some of us may need therapy with a good counselor to get over that.
I feel having anger and sadness is a natural processing of the pain. With time it subsides but it leaves a scar within us that may cause varying levels of PTSD. Takes time to heal for sure. Everyone's speed in healing is different.
I think this quoted statement in your opening post, " I imagine one of the reasons people cling to their hates so stubbornly is because they sense, once hate is gone, they will be FORCED TO DEAL WITH PAIN . " Or I might add - reality.
I believe we can apply this statement to active JW's who shun us ! They hate US so badly because if they lost their indoctrinated hate of ex-JW's , then they'd be forced to deal with their own pain of being lied to by WT leaders and they'd have to face reality for what it is - that the JW and WT belief systems are all a bunch of lies used to control them. So I feel this quote might be really accurate when used towards active, believing JW's. Just my 2 cents here
