Come on somebody. Give me your opinion on this. It seems to me the tension has been building in the organization for awhile, just out of sight, and well-controlled. I get the feeling there may be a power struggle going on, and the powers that be (for now, anyway) are trying to pull in the reins tighter.
Did this separation begin with Franz in your opinion???
today was rather a beautifully balmy hot summers day in the uk and i decided to take the babies to the park with a non jw friend of mine (let's call her y).
as i arrived in the park i caught sight of my best jw friend (let's call her x), one of the many who has decided she wants nothing more to do with me or my family.
i went to meet up with y and x walked straight past me with a quick flick round , obviously to check my babies out!

That reminds me...My husband, who is not and never has been a JW, laughed and said: "What does she have to do now, go say ten Hail Marys or something?"
i have a family of 4. each of us have very different likes and dislikes.
my husband and youngest daughter are vehemently opposed to tomatos or tomato products.
spaghetti sauce is completely out of the picture.
Kids nowadays are like that. They don't have the kind of mothers we had. My mother cooked healthy meals which included fresh vegetables and her philosophy was to eat what is set before you and say nothing about it. And you had to clean your plate or sit at the table till bedtime. I learned to love fresh vegetables because when you get hungry enough, they'll taste just fine.

Something similar happened to me at a restaurant last week. She tried to do the "oh, I didn't see you" routine, but I made her blink. I will not allow it, but, like you, my heart beat faster and my palms felt sweaty. But I made her look at me and.....SHE BLINKED!!! Gosh, that felt good.
some supportes of the jws argue that the wts does not impose on its followers to shun and disgrace ex jw family members, it leaves them the option to decide on the issue and some shun and others do not.
is that an honest arguments or is it like the blood issue where the wts supposedly doesn't impose on its members the decision to refuse blood?
for all we know the non shunning of ex jw family members except for absolutely necessary contact could lead a jw to dfing.

I don't know if the society has changed in recent years, but I have a brother who is df'd and my folks NEVER shunned him. My mother always said that she did not think Jehovah expected a mother to disown her own children. So, she never stopped associating with him. She remained in good standing till her death a couple of years ago, and no one ever counseled her about it.
so .. at the suggestion of krw, i checked with the health department to find out the laws for my state.
i learned that they do not allow home bakeries here.
so i had to rethink some things.

Glad you posted this. I just love it when I see a young person take the initiative in their life and GO FOR IT! "No guts, no glory!" as they say. A small business owner is the best if you can get it started right. I recommend QuickBooks Basic to keep your books and keep up with your vendors, bills, customers, etc. It's easy to learn and so useful. GOOD LUCK, dear, and I mean this from the bottom of my heart.

Did anyone else find this phraseology odd? Have they stopped calling them 'publishers'?
i rarely ever set foot in the place and will go out of my way to avoid shopping there.
tonight i made the mistake of giving walmart the benefit of the doubt and walked in the door.. they didn't have the main item i was looking for, but they did have one other small item.
i headed to the front to check out only to find they had only a few check-outs open and all of the lines were far too long.
Me, too, Elsewhere. I boycotted them for 11 mos. I tried to make it a year, but needed something one night late and they were the only ones open. I avoid them for many reasons, but customer service is the main one.
