Is RIDICULE acceptable in online debating?

this topic was inspired by one of fhn's comments on the 'warzone' thread, so i'll just restate my post there .

.. "i've been wondering for a while now if ridicule really is an unacceptable feature in debate - it certainly isn't a valid form of argumentation.

the thing is, some individuals really do come out with the most laughable nonsense and parade it as a serious proposition that merits attention.

I don't think ridicule is acceptable unless religion or similar is involved, in which case, it should be compulsory. Religion is one of the most evil things ever invented by man. Between 100 - 200 million have been murdered by christards alone. That isn't including the millions that have been raped, pillaged, tortured and enslaved. Anyone spreading religtard manure deserves to be ridiculed.

The historical reference and the body of early followers are most consistent with their having been a real man named Jesus, likely a very charismatic, cynic sage who made the mistake of visiting Jerusalem.

You really do need to watch the Carrier vid if you believe this.

Perhaps there was a King Arthur, and a Robin Hood. Of course the legends are nonsense, but the central figure just may have existed.

... and just may not have. However, you do raise a good point in that the evidence for the existence of Robin Hood and King Arthur are flimsy, even at best and yet, their legends persist, even today - oh, just like jesus in fact.

i'm not naming names, but i just want to encourage people on here or on reddit or twitter, and tell you that you do not have to tolerate people who act like schoolyard bullies in the way they speak to you online.

i think anonymity is a big part of it.

they feel like there is zero accountability so they can be a bully all they want.. i recommend just ignoring or blocking anyone who is verbally abusive or treats you like schoolyard bullies treated you.. life is way too short to spend any time dealing with those kinds of people..

You claim that we are not tolerant - at least you claim that some of us aren't. Yet, no one has banned you from this forum.

You have been allowed to post as you see fit.

Yes, your posts have been criticised, and not without good reason in my opinion, but you are free to write what you will and are free to do so in the future. This is a tolerant forum.

It's a great pity that we cannot do likewise on christard forums.

I have been on christard forums and been extremely polite, as have countless others before and after me. Once we proclaim our Atheism, that's it. We are ejected and banned for life without reason. Not only that, our IP addresses are circulated to other religtard forums so that we can't even register on them.

This forum claims to be tolerant and tolerant it is because it hasn't banned you. It allows you to say what you see fit.

The people on this forum are also open minded but not so open minded that their brains fall out.

Consider and look that up in your Funk and Wagnalls before you go bitching and moaning about the treatment you receive on this forum.

Awe shucks. This isn't a flower arranging forum folks. It's for a discussin' matters religin.

When two or more people talk about riligin, diverse views emerge, nostrils flare, tempers are lost, wars are fought and millions die. It's been this way since christards invented their god (whom they call Yahoo), jesus and their particular type of homophobic, mind-numbing, tedious shyte which they encapsulated within something they call the babble. Until riligin is wiped from the face of this planet, and that day couldn't come soon enough for me, it will be ever thus. So, ffs, get over it. For someone to come on to a forum such as this and then to whine and complain about bullying is, IMHO, a complete and utter twat with the IQ of a plant pot holder. Now just get real or peace off.

most jws are always "comforting" others about how death is only temporary.

Until about the 13 century, or there abouts, Man did not fear death to the extent he does now. It was just part of life. It appears that the fear of death only came about as a result of the spread of christinsanity and christards making people aware of their invention of heaven and hell. Prior to that point, when Man died, he automatically went to the 'afterlife' which was ONE place, not two.

Christards spread their shyte upon the Earth and used their concept of heaven and hell to control the populace. Then, they come along with their religion that shows people how to be good little christards (obey the church and give it all of your worldly goods) so that the church can live a fat cat life and you can avoid going to hell.

Thanks christards for that. You got people scared of death.

I err on that side too, if no such figure at all existed, where on earth did the very early sects/cults that followed him come from, and why ?

There was a trend occurring at the time that jesus was supposed to have existed. It's explained well in the Carrier vid. Basically, older religions were being merged to form new ones and sky gods were being given 'earthly' existences. If you really look at what supposedly happened to jesus, such as the resurrection etc., you will find that they happened to many sky gods before him. The parallels between jesus and other sky gods is either uncanny or jesus was based on one or more of these sky gods. I go for the latter because I still have issues with the fact that there were no contemporary reports of jesus. Also, between jesus' death and the gospels there was a sufficient period of time for all those that could have known jesus to have died. Therefore, they weren't in a position to dispute the accuracy of the gospels. IMHO, the jesus myth is a hoax and not even a good one. That said, people have fallen for it - or have the? Don't forget how many people christards had to kill to get their message across (100 - 200 million).
