i've been visiting this forum everyday, reading and waiting patiently for approval to post.

i've never been a jw.

I wanted to tell my husband and mother-in-law that they were killing her with their doctrine. My daughter is a beautiful 16 year old girl. Before the WTS got a hold of her she was strong, confident, opinionated, goal oriented, ambitious. Now she's taking antipsychotics and barely speaks above a whisper.
Your post brought tears to my eyes.
You are doing the right thing by being here. This forum gives us strength, new perspectives, and education into the JW mindset.
I very highly recommend the Steven Hassan books ("Combatting Cult Mind Control" and "Releasing the Bonds".) They are a godsend in dealing with family who is under such an influence.

i like this site (aside from the fact that we have the jw experience in common) because i have come to realize that all of you are very creative, interesting & courageous.

it takes a special person to exit the jw's.

we all of course are also very different & thats good because we can learn from each other.

the title pretty much explains it all... i don't want to go too much into my story (for paranoid fear of identification), but i have been raised in the "truth", and got baptized at a young age- too young to truly understand what i was getting into.

i still live with my parents, and as such don't want to make a move just yet, as it would destroy virtually everything i have left.

as of now though, i see myself leaning towards agnosticism.. here's my short sob story.

Yes, we understand all too well. There are very good people here, and many here have become great friends... there are even marriages that developed from this forum!
You are on the right track. Be patient and loving with yourself. Don't go any faster or any slower than you need to go. We will be here for you.
In the meantime, to meet people "in real life", volunteer for an organization that appeals to you, or take a class in something that sounds fun.

Wow!!! That's a keeper!!! Difficult to pick a favorite part, but this is perfectly wonderful:
thus the living sinners will die and the dead sinners will live,
except the dead who are made alive will not really be made alive again
but when they die God kinda makes a sort of computer chip, in a sense,
of all the information in their brains,
like their memories, thoughts, and personality
and keeps this stored in heaven
and the Angels that don't join up with Satan help
and then after Armageddon, God makes a perfect replica body,
and somehow inserts this memory chip in the perfect replica body
and then he will judge that new creation of the old person
who was dead but is now alive, sort of,
by how he treats the anointed who are mostly dead
but are represented by the Governing Body, who are not inspired
but only receive Divine direction,
and by how well he follows the directions of the Organization
and if he sins he dies.

a little mild exercise - taken in small doses to keep the joints operating properly - and a keen eye peeled for the ever-changing face of nature have rendered the daily promenade a suitable diversion.
